I think my point is she did real time in prison (like 5 years?). And if your concern is that someone who steals 10k gets more time, my question is:

Does she deserve more time or do they deserve less?

This forum likes to decry inhumane sentences which is great, but I hope you can see the misalignment in views when the same hive mind wants her to be locked away for much longer.

Excluding India, the GDP of those times zones is pretty damn small no? There's not a massive amount of international trade and business, meaning fewer morons to fuck the time difference up.

You realize when people show up at 8 am in different time zones this is already the same thing.

Settling at half increments isn't a bad idea in theory but it will be hell for international business because the average person is a moron.

If you're going to go this radical just abolish time zones and use UTC. Then locally decide what time is the start of standard business and what is not.

Eliminating vaccines is also bad for public health. Let's not fool ourselves into thinking this is a component of the decision.

That said, I'm also sus of that position. There are plenty of healthy societies that live much further north of the us population centers.

All this will do is create a black market full of scalpers who are incentivized to buy the entire stock of a good if the market is willing to pay significantly more.

Nah these guys were absolutely skewered and convicted in the court of public opinion before the charges got dropped a full year after the fact.

That said, there are still many things they did that were gross and reprehensible that evening. However rape was not among them.

She's still a convicted felon and was serving her time on home confinement. She served several years in actual prison. She has not been forgiven for her crime.

I really don't understand Lemmy. People massively confusing pardons and sentence commutations. Further being outraged at the horrors of the American prison system, yet being pissed when people aren't imprisoned enough.

They're still convicted felons, and we must assume deservedly so (I acknowledge some crimes are bullshit, eg marijuana charges).

They don't particularly deserve pardons, they deserve humane sentences for their crimes -- actual rehabilitation, mental health support, etc.

Initial perceptions were they absolutely did it. Rich kids and university athletes, classic story of not being able to take no as an answer.

It took quite a while for the tide to turn from what I remember.

Because this is absolutely what you should do, and you should still handle it like it was loaded even after doing this.

For small spaces with limited occupancy, you can get away with opening into the room. Main exits are push, unless it opens onto a public sidewalk and not a stoop or something.
