  • Thanks! I've updated it a little just by quickly going through the communities. Also lifted the link to lemmyapps up so users won't miss it. Let me know if there's anything I've missed!

  • [Match Thread] FA Cup Final - Manchester United vs Manchester City
  • I’m a bad fan. I’ve underestimated them.

I was lucky enough to be able to go to the QF match against Liverpool at Old Trafford. As someone who lives in the other side of the world, that was probably my only chance to ever do that. I skipped on a seat at Stretford End and bought cheaper seats cos I had no confidence. My only hope was that they played well enough so I wouldn’t be so crushed. They proved me wrong and it was one of the best days of my life.

And then last night, I intentionally ignored that the final was on because I needed to sleep early for an early morning. Right before I fell asleep I saw that it was 2-0 at half time and still wasn’t confident enough in the team that they could see it through and went to sleep. They proved me wrong again.

    Love this club!

  • Do adults benefit from flouride?
  • Ah so fluoride treatment is what I thought it was. Here in Australia we still get it with every teeth cleaning. Granted dental is an add on with private insurance so not everyone has access to it I believe.

  • Women of Lemmy Can a Guy be too muscular to be attractive?
  • Nicely toned is probably ideal. But I prefer skinny than overly muscular like body builders. Tall and skinny or lanky was pretty much my type especially when I was younger. Now my husband has a bit of fat around the belly and I love that too.

  • For YouTube channel, I generally find JPerm to be the clearest

Maybe PDFs/static websites would be better for you? Something like this. For me, especially once I get to learning OLLs and PLLs or any longer algs, it's easier to just read rather than watch someone do it

  • Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with all of MoYu's line. If the logo on the cube is exactly the same then I would guess it's one of the MF3RS series as their WRM ones usually have different logo. But other than that, I have no idea.

    Monthly Discussion Thread (April 2024)
  • Hey! I’m in Aussie too :)

Definitely a sad day. The (older?) cube shops, speedcube.com.au, also closed down recently. To be fair though, I’ve mostly been buying cubes from the Chinese stores since they’re significantly cheaper and they actually ship pretty quickly. Where do you buy your cubes from?

  • Monthly Discussion Thread (April 2024)
  • Sorry for the late thread. Was on holiday and forgot to check if the scheduled post went up. Will need to check what's happening with the scheduler.

In any case, I was on holiday for a month without a cube. Finally got back home and got a couple new ones since my main broke. I got the MoYu WRM V9 and the RS3M V5. Out of the box I definitely like the V5 better. Just like the reviews say, V9 magnets are very strong and it just feels strange. I think it requires more setup but it might be better if I can get that right. V5 also requires some setup but out of the box it's much more usable.

  • Match Thread] FA Cup Quarter Final | Manchester United vs Liverpool
  • I was stupidly lucky. Only in town for 3 days, leaving 10am tomorrow, and this match got scheduled at the perfect time.

Honestly I’m not sure how to process the match. One thing I remember, everyone was frustrated at Rashy for not running and missing chances, and then Bruno for losing the ball too easily a few times. Defending is still shitty, feels like we’re too slow in closing down. First half was definitely frustrating in failing to get the second ball.

The last 10 minutes of the first 90 was amazing. Stratford End got loud and the team played well. I was shocked at Rashford’s miss. Last kick of the match, could have been an amazing day. Then it was just back to nervousness.

Extra time was a bit of a blur really. Lots of nerves and excitement, screaming and shouting. I honestly missed the red card and thought Amad somehow got injured when he walked off.

Today was one of the best days in my life honestly.

  • Monthly discussion thread (February 2024)

Hi all! I mentioned in the last weekly that I think it might be good for us to move to monthly threads. This one was created manually but I've adjusted the auto-scheduler to post on the first of every month starting in March.

My hope is by giving the threads a longer lifetime, they'll get more engagement rather than mostly no posts and the occasional couple of comments.

Let me know if you have any feedback!

Weekly discussion thread (01 January 2024)

    Happy New Year everyone!

Does anyone have any cubing related New Year’s resolution?

    1
Does anyone have any experience going to a match at OT from overseas?

I’m from Australia and planning to travel to UK and Europe in March next year. Would love to watch a match and it seems that I can go to Sheffield United game (16 March). I’m assuming it’s impossible to get reasonably priced tickets for the Liverpool game.

I’m a bit confused about how this works. My understanding is that I have to get a membership to buy general admission tickets. But looking at their website, those are all sold out. Best bet seems to be hospitality tickets for £££.

Does anyone have experience with third party sellers? Would waiting for closer to the match for returned tickets be worth it? Or do I need to shell out for hospitality tickets?

And what happens if the game gets rescheduled to a completely different week and I’m no longer able to attend, do they refund?
