Also he's now using MoYu instead of Gan?
- I break a PR each day I time my solves
I don't like time my solves. I only like to solve. So, I practice every day and I feel when I was fast or not. And about once a month, I time few solves to see if the new things I learned are effective or those I try to improve have an impact. And…
Every time I break a personal record! Single and less often an average. It is very satisfying and it means I am progressing.
This morning, no warm up, my first solve was under my best Ao5. Which is a good sign, I think.
Voilà. I just wanted to share my experience as an average cuber :)
Keep learning.
- What's the most efficient way to solve this F2L Pair using the ZZ method
If using CFOP best way is > y U’ (R’ F R F’) U’ (F’ U’ F).
In ZZ method, you don’t rotate and those moves would break EO.
Using ZZ best solution I can think of is > (L’ U’ L) U’ (L’ U2 L) U2 (L’ U’ L)
which just feels inefficient. I wonder if there is a better way?
- Cube recommendation: Corner helicopter 2x2
Saw people like this puzzle so I picked one up. Surprised how often I pick it up to solve. Cube turns well for what it is.
I tried to take a picture that showed how it works. It's a normal 2x2, but the corners twist, and the edges twist. No shape shifting or anything funny.
The solve is pretty easy. Just find and pair pieces to build the corners, then solve it as a 2x2. Not really any special cases that need special algorithms or anything. It is a bit tedious and can be hard finding pieces that you need, but that can be mitigated a bit with methods I'll let you discover for yourself.
I like puzzles like this that don't feel like I have to learn a bunch of new information to be able to solve them. But that are also unique and interesting

- Rubik's Die Cube Modification
For anyone interested in my modified cube/die, this is the dot pattern I laid out. Sorry but not sorry for pixelated image, it shouldn't matter.
Reference post: https://lemmy.world/post/21005772
- Do modded die-cubes count?
Yes, it's a proper (though cheap) mini cube. I added proper dice dots to it for the hell of it. Fully solved, it's a proper die. Also, the red/white/blue pattern here is a proper and easily solvable die-cube. The opposite sides are autumn colors yellow/orange/green.
I also discovered a Christmas color theme proper die-cube.
I've found it very fun and interesting to play with, as obviously it's now a dual puzzle.
Thoughts?
Edit: Another post from I Made This, showing the autumn colors corner from the fully solved cube..

Have you ever dreamed about cubing? About solving a cube? I didn't. But I'm curious. If yes, can you tell us?

- Think I can finally solve my FTO without help
Been playing with my new FTO for a dew days - wasn't able to solve it without help. I went with the Bencisco method and it's a really fun solve. It did take a bit for me to fully grasp solving centers (it's like 4x4 Yau method, but with a restriction). And I still don't fully comprehend solving the last 3 triplets, but I can always get them.
Some of my favorite twisty puzzles are ones that don't take a lot of learning. Just intuitive moves if you have a method. So more like solving a puzzle than following a list of steps. The FTO is almost that. The few algorithms I had to learn are basically intuitive once you see them once.
I definitely see myself picking this cube up a lot to solve for fun. My main complaint is that sometimes the puzzle is just solved after solving the centers. I actually really like the last step, but often multiple steps get skipped at the end. But then that's just an excuse to scramble it up again!

- [Preston Alden] 49x49 Rubik's Cube
Mere days after photos of a 35x35 surfaced, Preston Alden has unveiled a 49x49:
> It weighs 30 kg, stands 34 cm tall, and consists of 13,827 pieces. Every piece of the cube was 3D printed using PETG plastic (aside from the bolts and springs).
Congratulations to Preston on such an incredible achievement. I've never seen olzing on such a large puzzle!

- [Yang Yongshun] 35x35 Rubik's Cube?
A few photos and videos have surfaced of what appears to be a 35x35 Rubik's cube.
Tony Fisher has posted a video with some commentary and early speculation on its legitimacy. He also notes that the puzzle appears to have been spray-painted (rather than dyed or stickered) as evidenced by the over-spray between the yellow and blue faces.
Yusheng Du (yes, that Yusheng Du) has posted a video of two dudes lifting it.
David Marcos Mazón has reposted a stop-motion video from an undisclosed source, which implies that the puzzle turns on at least one axis.
As far as I know, no videos of the puzzle being turned have been released.
Further discussion on the twistypuzzles forum.
This 35x35 comes less than 3 months after Matt Bahner presented his 34x34. Given the time it takes to design and build a puzzle of this scale, I think it seems likely that the puzzles were constructed concurrently.

- Uncube Updates: Solve synchronization.
Finally, UnCube has solve-synchronization. This feature has been a long time coming, but I've been taking a break from development on this app.
For the time being, at least, I'm back.
Some things to look forward to:
Statistics are coming. Soon users of the app will be able to view and export their solve statistics. (Open to suggestions as to the format of the exports)
Help wanted
If you are a graphical designer (and are willing to work for free), UnCube needs an icon/logo. See the GitHub Issue on this for more information. If anything is unclear, you can post a comment there asking for more information.

- [wrong delivery] WRM V10 instead of RS3M V5. What do you think?
Hello everyboby :)
I'm new in this community. Happy to join you.
Today, I received a MoYu WRM V10 Ball-core MagLev UV instead of a MoYu RS3M V5 Ball-Core MagLev UV + robot. If you know both:
What are the differences between these cubes? Do you think I should keep the RS3M or not?
I only have few days to make a choice. Can you help me to make it please?

- Cube Purchase Advice
I'm starting out with a cheap Mo Fang Ge brand cube but it's pretty stiff for my taste. I saw some videos about speedcubes and how you can adjust them and all that, thought it was neat. What are some good cubes out there? I would want to avoid any Chinese brand cubes if possible because cheap and Chinese probably means their workers aren't fairly compensated.
Edit: after much research, I don't think a non-chinese brand cube will be possible. So I guess recommend me whatever the best options are. From the $10-20 range would be a good price for me.
