  • Thousands march in Dublin calling for end to violence in Gaza

Thousands of people took part in a rally in Dublin city centre on Saturday calling for an end to the violence in Gaza.

The event was organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), and was supported by more than 100 Irish civil society groups.

The group said the event was staged to call “for an end to Israel’s genocidal assault on the people of Gaza, and for the Irish Government to take action to hold Israel accountable”.

Protesters assembled at 1pm at the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square, before marching from there to Leinster House for a rally outside the Dáil. A number of speakers criticised the Government’s “empty words” on Israel following its actions in response to the October 7th attack by Hamas, and called for concrete sanctions against the state.

Those taking part in the rally carried flags, wore Palestinian attire, and chanted slogans including “free, free, Palestine” and “ceasefire now”.

Speakers include IPSC chairwoman Zoë Lawlor and Irish Palestinian Zak Hania, who was trapped in Gaza until recently.

the talks didnt led to much, i think most santions stood in place, the DPRK said later that trump only did them as a political move, but if we believe what Moon Chung-in who was the Special Advisor for the then president of the ROK the talks mostly failed due to John Bolton and allies that wanted a hard disarmament followin the libyan model which the DPRK diplomats where fully against

    >I am Korea Feminist. Please Don't ask Korean men about feminism. In South Korea, women who support feminism are targets of cyberbullying. We face daily layoffs and digital sexual assault. In severe cases, assault or even murder. So South Korean women hide their beliefs to survive

    >This is why men and pickme girls say there are fewer 4Bs in Korea. Many women who practice 4B have to hide their beliefs from anti-feminist in order to avoid being killed. In Korea, it is impossible to have positive conversations about feminism offline.

  • Corrupt Real Estate Firms Are Displacing Indigenous Mexicans in New Colonialism

    Article link

    Post link

Locals say the real estate industry is using organized crime, intimidation and even arson to clear the way for profits.

Like a 68-story glass-clad monument to imperialism, the Mítikah tower is now the tallest building in Mexico City. Operating since 2022, it was designed and built by U.S. and Mexican real estate and architecture companies, including Fibra Uno, Parks Hospitality Holdings and Pelli Clarke & Partners. It is the biggest shopping complex in the city and also features residential and office spaces. By not recognizing locals as original peoples with Teotihuacan descendancy, authorities were able to avoid the legally required consultation before approving its construction. Now, water — a scarce resource in Mexico City — is being redirected to the luxury building, while locals are left without.

Avoiding community consultation is just one of the strategies real estate companies are using to build and profit, while displacing people and destroying environments throughout Mexico. These corporations are using a combination of corruption, ties with organized crime, intimidation tactics, forced evictions and some allege arson, to clear the way for them to build their empires.

  • "This Hindutva Fascist is just like my favorite Liberal"

    obligatory Stalin quote

    >Firstly, it is not true that fascism is only the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie. Fascism is not only a military-technical category. Fascism is the bourgeoisie’s fighting organisation that relies on the active support of Social-Democracy. Social-Democracy is objectively the moderate wing of fascism. There is no ground for assuming that the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie can achieve decisive successes in battles, or in governing the country, without the active support of Social-Democracy. There is just as little ground for thinking that Social-Democracy can achieve decisive successes in battles, or in governing the country, without the active support of the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie. These organisations do not negate, but supplement each other. They are not antipodes, they are twins. Fascism is an informal political bloc of these two chief organisations; a bloc, which arose in the circumstances of the post-war crisis of imperialism, and which is intended for combating the proletarian revolution. The bourgeoisie cannot retain power without such a bloc. It would therefore be a mistake to think that “pacifism” signifies the liquidation of fascism. In the present situation, “pacifism” is the strengthening of fascism with its moderate, Social-Democratic wing pushed into the forefront.

    >Europe faces a triple threat >1) to its security, mainly from Russia, which is systematically using “aggression in all known domains of conflict.” If 🇷🇺wins in 🇺🇦, “who can pretend that it will stop there?” Moldova, Romania, Poland, Lithuania and any neighbour could be vulnerable

Lol yea ok they are going to attack NATO just cuz !nato-cool!qin-shi-huangdi-fireball

    >Macron stands by his refusal to rule out sending ground forces to help Ukraine. “If the Russians were to break through the front lines, if there were a Ukrainian request - which is not the case today - we would legitimately have to ask ourselves this question.”

They did so well in the sahel they would totally beat russia lol

    >Macron wants to start a discussion at the EPC summit in 🇬🇧in July about a new European “security framework”. It needs to look at threats, capabilities and production, and focus on geography not institutions. He'll also raise the question of extending France’s nuclear deterrent

    >There is “no question of brushing NATO aside”, Macron said. But Europe, in line with his longstanding project, has to “get ready to protect ourselves”. This is a hedge against future US disengagement and a way “to lighten the American burden”. Europe is “not reduced to the EU”

The eu cope army will just eat up all the treats and wont defeat anything

    >Threat 2) is to Europe’s ability to guarantee its future prosperity, from the twin shock of accelerating technology and China. Macron worries that Europe will fall behind fatally if it doesn’t today make the right massive investments, esp in clean tech and disruptive innovation

Oh noo being forced to use huawei what a terrible fate lol

Biden has signed a TikTok ban into law. Here’s what this really means
www.independent.co.uk Biden has signed a TikTok ban into law. Here’s what this really means

India’s ban could serve as precedent for the US, after President Joe Biden signed the so-called TikTok ban into law

Biden has signed a TikTok ban into law. Here’s what this really means

    >President Joe Biden has just signed the so-called TikTok ban into law, meaning that the popular social media app’s parent company must now sell the app or face a ban across the US,

    >The controversial ban of the app was passed by Congress this week, sending the measure to Mr Biden’s desk, who signed the legislation into law on Wednesday.

    >Despite fears that the Chinese-owned app will suddenly vanish from users’ phones, that is far from the reality of what will likely happen.

    >When does the ban go into effect?

    >At the earliest, it would probably take a year before TikTok would be banned.

    >Under the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, has nine months to sell the social media app, tacking on an additional three more if a sale is under way.

    >But if this doesn’t happen, TikTok will be banned from US app stores.

    >In reality, the app would be no longer accessible in the app stores in the US, meaning it would become more difficult to download the app or receive updates.

    >TikTok users could probably circumvent the app’s removal from US app stores and access the app through other means, like by using a virtual private network (VPN) or using a foreign SIM card.

    >“The TikTok bill relies heavily on the control that Apple and Google maintain over their smartphone platforms because the bill’s primary mechanism is to direct Apple and Google to stop allowing the TikTok app on their respective app stores,” Dean Ball, a research fellow with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, told The Associated Press.

Sorry, but Iran is not the aggressor here
www.aljazeera.com Sorry, but Iran is not the aggressor here

Amid the genocide in Gaza, Western condemnation of the intercepted Iranian attack on Israel is sickeningly cynical.

Sorry, but Iran is not the aggressor here

    >On Saturday, April 13, Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel in retaliation for a deadly Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, that took place on April 1.

    >The vast majority of the projectiles were intercepted by Israel’s air defence system, with assistance from the ever-helpful United States military, and damage was minimal. Having completed its retaliation, Iran has now declared that the matter can “be deemed concluded” – although Israel is not usually one to let anyone else have the last word

    >In the meantime, the barrage of criticism of Tehran’s “aggression” has continued unabated in the West.

    >The Iranian attack, mind you, occurred a little over six months into Israel’s ongoing pulverisation of the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 34,000 Palestinians, including some 13,800 children. And yet given the thousands of missing persons presumed to be buried under the rubble, even these terrifying numbers are no doubt grave underestimates.

    >More than 76,000 people have been wounded, as the Israeli military has busied itself flattening entire neighbourhoods and blowing up schools, hospitals, and other basic infrastructure, all the while condemning the territory’s inhabitants to famine and starvation.

Libs article "actually its fascist to protest genocide"
web.archive.org The Left-Wing Authoritarians Shutting Down the Democratic Party

Liberals would justifiably freak out if the right was doing this to Biden.

The Left-Wing Authoritarians Shutting Down the Democratic Party

    >Imagine a world in which Congressman Jamie Raskin attempts to deliver a speech on “Democracy, Autocracy, and the Threat to Reason in the 21st Century” and is unable to deliver his remarks because Trump supporters drown him out, and authorities justify the disruption as an exercise in “democracy.” Democrats attempting to raise money for the opposition are surrounded on the street by Trumpists shouting “fuck Joe Biden” and abusing them with racial epithets.

    >These are the kind of scenes that come to mind when we imagine the authoritarian culture of a second Trump term. They are also events that have not only occurred but have grown commonplace. This pattern of behavior is illiberal and dangerous.

    >The twist, of course, is that the mobs shutting down the opposition to Trump are not Trump supporters, or at least not right-wing Trump supporters. Pro-Palestinian activists have set out to disrupt Democratic Party officials from speaking and raising funds to defeat Trump.

You are not supposed to criticize us !wojak-nooo

    >But the problem is not one of mere efficacy. Drowning out speakers and disrupting exercises in politics, regardless of its cause or the target, is wrong on principle.

Sir pls, you are not letting me finish !wojak-nooo

    >The most elemental premise of liberalism is that politics should be governed by a uniform set of rules or norms that apply to everybody, regardless of the content of their beliefs. Over the last decade, an increasingly visible fault line has opened up on the left between political liberals and more radical activists.

    >The illiberal left defines politics as a conflict between oppressor and victim and does not believe the former deserves the same rights as the latter.

fortune.com TikTik regulation bill’s future looking wobbly in Senate as calls—and threats—pour in: ‘OK, listen, if you ban TikTok I will find you and shoot you’

While more aggressive than most, TikTok’s extensive lobbying campaign is the latest attempt by the tech industry to head off any new legislation — and it's a fight the industry usually wins.

TikTik regulation bill’s future looking wobbly in Senate as calls—and threats—pour in: ‘OK, listen, if you ban TikTok I will find you and shoot you’

    >The young voices in the messages left for North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis were laughing, but the words were ominous.

    >“OK, listen, if you ban TikTok I will find you and shoot you,” one said, giggling and talking over other young voices in the background. “I’ll shoot you and find you and cut you into pieces.” Another threatened to kill Tillis, and then take their own life.

    >Tillis’s office says it has received around 1,000 calls about TikTok since the House passed legislation this month that would ban the popular app if its China-based owner doesn’t sell its stake. TikTok has been urging its users — many of whom are young — to call their representatives, even providing an easy link to the phone numbers. “The government will take away the community that you and millions of other Americans love,” read one pop-up message from the company when users opened the app.
