You know, previous to the current generation of consoles, I thought FOR SURE that back-paddles/buttons would become the next standardized iteration. Controller innovation over the last TWO generations I'd argue, has been really lacking in my opinion.

So, I actually did order a open box elite series 2 controller but ended up having to exchange it because there was substantial stick drift on both sticks. Super frustrating that this wasn't caught, or the sellers don't care enough about the quality control...
The "core" version is a little cheaper, but nobody has the paddles, which is pretty much the main reason I want one of these controllers...
There is sadly not many competitors available right now either. The Razer model is 250$!? WAY more than I want to spend...
The Guilikit one looks promising, but still have another couple of weeks before it actually releases and then would have to wait on shipping from China, which I hate.
You would think that in 2024 there would be more viable alternatives for professional level no-compromise controllers with good quality for an affordable price.

The prohibitive price of the xbox elite controllers is definitely a big detractor. They have the 'core' model now, for 130 apparently, but doesn't even include back paddles

Not that you have to give it another try or anything, but I definitely didn't get it right away either. However, I think that it is one of those easy to learn hard to master type of mechanics that is worth the practice it takes to get better at it.
Personally, I found the mechanics very fun and I think the game does a fantastic job of introducing new additions to the base mechanics, pretty much throughout the entirety of the game.
For instance, when you first start out, you only have a swing, and this is to allow you to familiarize yourself with the momentum only, which sort of feels odd/different at first to most games (the fact that there is no way to jump (or another similar behavior) at the end of your swing is kind of different than what is typical for the genre I'd say). That being said, you get a swing boost mechanic to add on to this skill pretty early on which sort of fixes that deficit (and makes total sense functionality wise). The intentional design and slow introduction to new concepts is brilliantly done. (Every time you get a new mechanic the game gives you a zone to play through it in the form of a memory (read, tutorial))
Towards the end of the game, the traversal capabilities are quite masterful. You get a retracting capability that is really amazing too.
I'd recommend to stick with it, if you're up for it.

I just finished my first playthrough of this game, SANABI, and I just wanted to share it here. I'm a little biased, but I think it's one of the most incredible games I've ever played. I pretty much played it obsessively until I beat it (~2 days and 11.2 hours total).
If you're even remotely into 2D platformers, don't sleep on this one. I hope to see this developer continue to put out amazing experiences like this in the future.

Hi, lets talk about 2in1 laptops and tablets. Which ones are the best for running linux on them, which ones are your favorites right now, what do you like using them for, etc. I find myself really missing having a 2in1 sometimes, especially for the portability aspects of them.

I have been thinking about what my usecases for it will be and I'm definitely leaning more towards a tablet for it's better portability. I think the StarLite will be the biggest contender so far.

Hi, I am often in unfamiliar locations because of what I do for work and I'm having trouble finding ways to search for businesses that are close by. I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I've let myself become pretty dependent, over many years of phone use now, to just use google maps to search for pretty much everything... I'm no longer happy with this method, and I'd like to eliminate my dependency on them.
What are some of your favorite ways to research new locations you're unfamiliar with? I'm willing to go as far as seeking out phone books if I have to. (I remember the days before the internet, let me tell you...)
Also, I have both organic street maps as well as osmand installed and while I really like using organic street maps it (as well as osmand) is quite lacking in this certain respect.
So I have this flashlight. I like a lot of things about it, but my main nitpick is the modes. They go from medium to high to low, and you have to go through them every time you turn on the light. Ideally, there could be multiple modes, if it just had a memory setting, and then this wouldn't be an issue anymore.
I'd just like to know what recommendations you guys might have for a good handheld, but which has more practical and functional UI. Other flashlights I've had in the past only had an on/off function when pressing the button, and maybe the flood mode if you hold it.
Also, USB-C and rechargeable are requirements as well.

I would like to know what some of your favorite lanterns are. I am really wanting one for more of a night light type of setup, in my camper. It needs to be USB-C rechargeable as well.
I'm curious if anyone uses sandblasting for cleaning up their prints. If not, what's your favorite way to clean them up?
I'm using Fusion360, and trying to make changes to .stl files.
I would like to know what your preferred way to make changes to print files is. For instance, I was trying to combine a clamp and a cup holder and dealing with the resulting mesh files is pretty frustrating.
