  • The Israeli prisoners were detained and arrested.

The Israelis held by Hamas have been given many more rights than the average Palestinian prisoner.

This is an outright lie, Palestinians are being amputated because of zipties to their limbs

Again, Israel has no interest in "rehabilitating" its hostages, whereas Hamas is specifically offering to release theirs.

At worst this is hostages on both sides. Your assessment only proves how much more hospitable Hamas have been to its captives than Israel, even at a time of war and famine brought on by Israel's onslaught.

  • Loongarch is a few years ahead of RISC-V atm. the fastest RV cores are comparable to ARM A53 (Raspberry pi 3-ish) whilst Loongarch is comparable to Intel Core 10th generation.

I think its a sunk cost thing. Loongarch was set in motion before RISC-V International was established in a neutral country, and now they'd be giving up a faster proprietary ISA for one that's much slower atm.

The fact Alibaba is putting their money on RISC-V is probably enough of a sign that Loongarch will likely have a short-lived time at the top of the Chinese DIY processor stack.

  • Never said Israel was defined by Netanyahu, I said that Israel is defined by Zionism, which persists even if the figurehead changes.

As for your naff rhetorical, Liberal Americans ARE defined by the colonialism, rampant capitalism, and disregard for the environment inherent in the system they support.

  • Nothing about RISC-V disallows hardware-level surveillance. Most if not all surveillance hardware on our devices are really just super-low-power ARM CPUs. You can in theory just make a RISC-V chip capable of doing the same work.

I do think you're probably right that it's more about having exclusive control over the intellectual property and the ISA specification. RISC-V does allow you to close-source your chip designs, but the foundation behind it was only moved to a relatively-neutral country (Switzerland) in 2019, which is some years after Loongson moved to proprietary CPU designs.

They're the only ones going proprietary as far as i know, most are going for RISC-V

  • And so begins the inevitable "this is actually just Bibi's fault, not us poor Israelis!" PR spin to try and get people to sympathise with the colonizers who will just elect an even more racist and evil genocidaire to do their bidding.

  • There's already a bunch of distros for lower-end hardware. PuppyLinux is probably what you're looking for, and it's actually a genre of distro that takes a typical distro like SUSE, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch etc. and packages it into a slimmer spin with some shared utilities.

  • But my point is: What makes that player want to push the "auto win" button? There are lots of games with cheating, but also many more that dont suffer nearly as much from cheating, if at all.

Competitive games, especially ones that lean towards eSports and "real prizes" are going to have some incentive to cheat, but even in this genre there's games known for cheats and others that have better reputations. The question is what game design decisions can improve the urge of players to seek cheats in the first place.

  • Thing is, even with the massive influx of weapons, Ukraine is going to face a severe risk of mutiny and exhaustion because they just don't have enough people to rotate through the front lines.

Even with the recent news of the expanded draft, the AFU just recently ended the service limit for conscripts and is still outnumbered by Russian troops on the front line.

Either Ukraine will have to extend the draft further, seriously hindering their economy, or another country will have to get involved directly. France was supposedly considering deploying troops to the Ukrainian-Belorussian border to free up troops to fight in the East, but that clearly isn't coming to fruition (yet?).

The opportunity for Ukraine to get any kind of decisive victory and a decent peace deal was within the first year of the war. Russia was always going to have time on their side.

  • try !privacy@lemmy.ml as I'm not 100% on this stuff

    but basically:

some third party hosts let you sign up anonymously with an anonymous email etc.

Only ever connect to the server host via VPN

Get a domain with anonymous WHOIS protection

Stick it all behind a reverse proxy

Technically Nintendo or whoever could demand your proxy/host to stop doing business with your account, but they won't have enough personal info to go beyond that and you can just rehost it under new info.
