The entire purpose of Nostr is about true censorship resistance and speech autonomy. That doesn't exist with AP. Even if you self host, others can block your instance and no one will think twice about why the server is on the list.
Nostr gives you more granular control. You can block the nazis or anyone else. There are projects in the works building the equivalent of a Fediblock if you want to take it that far.
Yes, you're thinking of Libertarian Socialism, which is what I predominantly subscribe to.
You must be American. You should research Libertarian. It's one step before Anarchist.
American Libertarians, perhaps. They do seem to have been co-opted by some who left the Republican party.
Libertarians are not right-wing lmao
Plebbit is dead
Instances mean you're at the mercy of the admin not to ban you. No one can ban you on Nostr.
Also, it isn't crypto bros. It's only Bitcoiners. No one supports the degenerate pump and dump crypto scams.
The Chinese are still laughing because they covertly using their EV cars as trojans
Yup, it's sad. Oxen is/was a Monero fork, with some actual privacy. Now their pivot to a centralized, VC-backed PoS like Eth that has no privacy is just overall disappointing. It more or less confirms my earlier suspicions that Session devs only care about enriching themselves. The "Sybil resistance" excuse for requiring such a high amount of capital to contribute a node is just a bunch of BS.
It's just the new AI porn saying "watch me plsss"
If you want layman's for all of those then use beeper.com heh. Those all are the open source Matrix bridges and a reskinned Element app
Ok np. What sort of donation could help expedite it in the next sprint? Thanks
Hello. Any plan to add support for homescreen widgets like Apollo had for reddit? Thanks
And sadly the biggest competitor is Rumble and it's terrible
You should check out Orion. Now that’s the best browser for iOS with both Firefox/Chrome extension support.
I was looking for a multi-OS file encrypter, for a single solution, and found this one: https://paranoiaworks.mobi/sse/pro_version_features.html
The pro version says, "You get new algorithms: Threefish 1024bit, SHACAL-2 512bit and Paranoia C4 2048bit (which is a cascade of Threefish–Serpent–AES–SHACAL2)."
Any real benefit to a multiple encryption scheme of 4 different ciphers for that 3rd algo? Just seems like it could increase the likelihood of introducing more possible vulns and/or more susceptible to cryptanalysis
US military operators started out skeptical about AI, but now they are the ones developing and using Project Maven to identify targets on the battlefield.

A Cloudflare IP address was added to Italy's Piracy Shield system on Saturday, blocking countless innocent sites, just as everyone predicted.
So I know, I know you're not really supposed to change the domain of an already existing Mastodon server. But I did anyway and set the previous domain as alt domain in config. However, to see content of accounts I previously followed, I need to keep the old domain running. With a redirect in place to the new domain it breaks seeing those account's content. Anyway to resolve this so I can point old domain to new and see all content? I tried unfollow/refollow and it didn't work. Thanks

As the title says, Lemmios is only Lemmy app where the link previews are broken with Lockdown Mode enabled.
Mozilla is “extremely disappointed.”

DISH Network and Sling TV have filed a lawsuit against a pirate IPTV operation that allegedly made more than $20 million.
I've set up object storage properly on my instance. However, I noticed that pictrs is still ballooning in size and I beleive it's due to the thumbnail cache. This cache does not appear to be getting stored in the object storage. Any idea how I can have anything saved in pictrs be stored in my object storage provider rather than local? Thanks
A Chinese state-backed institution has devised a way to identify users who send messages via Apple Inc.’s popular AirDrop feature, Beijing’s government claims, as part of broader efforts to root out undesirable content.

As the title suggests, the IPTV service 4kiptv.tv sites are no longer working. Either they pulled the plug themselves or were getting shut down.
Either way, I've tried a handful of other "4k" providers but the 4kiptv.tv seemed the best. Anyone have a good rec on the best iptv provider with lots of 4k content?

Does anyone here have any suggestions on how I might be able to resolve this for my instance? Thanks!
