Gamers aged 55+ account for almost a third of gamers now, and that share is on the rise.
  • it's 100% that they count mobile games as "gaming" so grandma and grandpa playing candy crush and wordle are "gamers" now. They list 11% on console but even that seems high. 23% on PC probably includes wordle too.

  • I'm not going to argue that greentext is ever real but mixing vape juice and diluting is very common. I vape 3mg freebase 1:2 with nic-free for 1mg juice which has a very tiny nic kick. You can even mix flavors like Cola + Apple or cherry is just delicious :P

  • The west is legit afraid of Russia's collapse because once again someone will have to bail Russia out and it'll either be another 1988 mess or a new toy for China.

What will happen to Russia once it's fully in "war economy" and loses the war?

  • It's unrelated to the current topic but yes. Terms of service should be both ways. We already do that for user data through GDPR and similar laws and inevitably all users will have more rights including right to transparency.

I find it kinda funny that you argue against this on a platform that was founded because reddit was extremely opaque. We even have a transparent mod log here. So you really need more examples that transparency is good?

Most interesting part of the article:

    > "Our focus is on transforming our biggest franchises from largely console and PC-based with 3-4 year release schedules to include more always-on gameplay through live services, multiplatform, and free-to-play extensions, with the goal of having more players spending more time on more platforms. Facebook Finally Puts a Price on Privacy: It’s $10 a Month

Ad free Facebook and Instagram is officially on. I'm trying to stay open minded but honestly it's too expensive especially with this sneaky account center rule unless you're in an unfortunate position where you need to spend a lot of time on these platforms.

Meta introduces new anti-piracy measures for Meta Quest 2

Meta sneakily introduced "Platform Integrity Attestation API" which basically calls home to see whether the user has a valid license to play.

This means that to run apps user has to have online connection to perform an integrity test. Whether it's only a test on launch or continues call home like Denuvo-like DRMs is not yet clear. This could also mean that modified headsets could fail to pass this test essentially closing down the device for modifications that could damage "platform integrity". Not all details are clear yet but this doesn't look good.

Currently it's optional and up to app developers to enable it.

Pulsar Timing Arrays expected to be a part of the big physics announcement on June 28/29th. Here's what they are.

So, apparently Pulsar Timing Arrays work and something important was discovered that'll be announced in few days.

This might sound like a bunch of space-nothing but just like radio waves, discovering gravitation waves could open up a lot of new posibilities in space observation. Though, in practice producing gravitation waves takes absurd amounts of energy so we'll not be applying this on earth any time soon.

YSK about Hermit - app that turns web pages to native apps. Works great with Fediverse apps!
hermit.chimbori.com Hermit • Lite Apps Browser

Native apps eating up battery and slowing down your phone? Switch to Lite Apps.

    Hermit • Lite Apps Browser

Android browsers can already add pages to home screen but Hermit takes this even futher.

It has significantly better UX with frameless and full screen modes. You can bookmark pages, so on Lemmy you can quickly bookmark community in specific sorting order. There are user scripts and blockers and loads of customization. You can even add push notifications for changes on the site or RSS feed.

I've been running most Fediverse web apps through Hermit and it works really well! The only exception is that I couldn't figure out how to setup notifications on Mastodon.
