  • Ugh yeah the sites you linked said you just wouldn’t be able to use E2E apps unless you consent to upload everything you do. I’m all for protecting children but this is not the way. This is super nefarious in that people outside the country or using VPNs would be unaware they are being surveilled. I would start a movement to create a law to require any E2E app to disclose if it is monitored by a third party

  • MacBook Air owner?
  • I would say I have more of a limited view rather than a twisted view. I have used friend’s decks (don’t own one) and haven’t run into issues like that. That boot issue is top-tier ridiculous.. You need to be able to power off your devices

  • MacBook Air owner?
  • Wow all those are features I want to work properly on a device.

Not to downplay Signal, their encryption is good and they added anti-quantum technology, but I miss what Wikr used to be. Friggin corporate takeovers.

Linux was never strong at graphical type things though. I think one of the reasons for a JRE for Android was a graphical setup. You take out the Java, get the bare OS. The Pi is pretty basic. SteamDeck works well because of the people working on Proton which also functions extremely well for Linux desktop Steam users. Hats off to them and I definitely appreciate all that work

  • MacBook Air owner?
  • The app compatibility is what I’d be most worried about. Not enough people want to buy them since there are bugs. But there aren’t enough people buying to justify devs fixings these bugs. It needs some momentum, it seems

  • MacBook Air owner?
  • The pine64 products all look quite nice. I was thinking of getting one of those phones (Linux based) next time mine dies. I can confirm the pinecil is the best soldering iron I’ve used and it’s only $26. The laptop they sell also has decent stats

  • Judge Orders Sale of Alex Jones’s Personal Assets but Keeps Infowars in Business
  • Getting them money was a good thing though. The lies spread by Jones caused these people to have to relocate, hire protection, etc which costed them out of pocket. The assets for InfoWars should definitely have been sold off to pay. Even though I disagree with pretty much everything that man says I still support his right to speak so banning him from the internet doesn’t seem right. Yes ban him anywhere he violated community guidelines which is pretty much everywhere his channel is currently

  • Republicans' Capitol Hill pep rally for Trump's return was a flop
  • Still a lil suspicious. From the link you posted “The responsibility for the Reichstag fire remains a topic of debate and research.[3][4] Some historians believe, based on archive evidence, that the arson had been planned and ordered by the Nazis as a false flag operation;[5][6] indeed, the Gleiwitz incident in 1939 that granted Hitler emergency powers and paved the way for World War II proves that such a tactic was not out of the question for the Nazis. “

  • Spring Potential Energy
  • If the spring does eventually break, it will be a weaker spring since a lot of material is gone. The potential energy of a spring at the breaking point would be different than the original spring. So I guess I could rephrase the question, what happens until that point? Does it get let go as heat?

  • Spring Potential Energy

Say a dissolvable spring is compressed with a bolt and nut that do not melt in a sulfuric acid solution. The spring has quite a bit of potential energy at this point since it is compressed. Assuming the spring dissolves perfectly (no breakage, just complete disintegration), what happens to the potential energy of the spring?

One Punch Man Season 3 new visual - Fubuki
  • We can only hope

“.. the appearance of a full trailer suggests a 2024 release window is a distinct possibility. We’d maybe expect a Fall 2024/October 2024 release date at this point given that’s the next major anime release window after Spring 2024 and the usually pretty dry Summer 2024 window.”

  • Trump's New York felony conviction can't keep him from becoming president
  • I looked it up and he can even run for office from jail. It’s been done before by Eugene Debs.

I saw an opinion that they could possibly suspend his sentence until after his term if he won, but he would likely try to pardon himself at that point. It’s uncharted waters at this point.

I think there are certain crimes that should bar you from the presidency or any office for that matter. If you do election related crimes to get elected that should disqualify you.

  • Safety Razor, what do I need to think about?
  • I have a heavy beard and this is not applicable. An open screw style is better for me. Not trying to downplay the usefulness of that link I’m just saying there are other options for thicc boys

    ________________________________________________ **Steam Announcement 5/2/24 **

This announces the return of PSN forced logins

“Due to technical issues at the launch of HELLDIVERS™ 2, we allowed the linking requirements for Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be temporarily optional. That grace period will now expire. See details below in this post.

Account linking plays a critical role in protecting our players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games. This is our main way to protect players from griefing and abuse by enabling the banning of players that engage in that type of behaviour. It also allows those players that have been banned the right to appeal.” __________________________________________________ **Playstation Announcement 5/5/24 **

Backing out the PSN account changes, some corpo BS basically

"Helldivers fans—we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward. We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans.”

    __________________________________________________ **Some Analysis **

Basically from the information I gathered here’s how I see it went down. The notice requiring PSN connection was always there where all the EULA requirements are (right side of the store page next to the game features. You have to scroll past the buy button to see it. I never look at those. “Requires 3rd-Party Account: PlayStation Network (Supports Linking to Steam Account)” The PSN connection requirement was —active— on launch for a short amount of time. Due to the massive server lag this was causing they paused the feature. They then reenabled, leading to the previous 2 announcements.

    __________________________________________________ **Problems I see with Sony **

    1. They should never have sold to the 177 countries that it is illegal Corporate BS from the FAQ basically says go to a country that supports PSN, make an account, and go back.

Comment from @jet@hackertalks.com “Basically if you don’t live in a PSN country, they want you to lie to make a PSN account, making you in breach of the TOS. But they don’t want to say it directly. So they only answer in that mealy mouthed if you’re traveling scenario. What this means is if you live in one of the 66% of the world countries that doesn’t have access to PSN You’re going to lose access to the game. Unless you lie. And if you lie you could get banned.”

    1. They needed to make it absolutely clear in-game that they were having server issues and that PSN login would be required once they got that sorted.

This was a fuck-up on their part not keeping their users informed. If they had put in that simple notification in-game none of this would have happened.

    1. After one or two months of the feature not working and having huge success with the servers, amount of users, and player engagement, they should have just scrapped the feature.

    2. Anyone being gifted the game would not have been aware of this, ever. __________________________________________________ **Good things that happened: **

    3. Steam offered full refunds to anyone that played, regardless of hours, which is extremely rare

    4. After much collaboration from the gamers, PSN is no longer required

    5. Gamers were able to push a corpo to not do some BS. Huge win

    __________________________________________________ **To summarize: **

I didn’t notice the 3rd party login that was present when I purchased. That’s on me. Early gamers knew about the PSN connection. Any one of them that thought it was bad would have just returned it. Any one who didn’t care kept playing and didn’t bring it up because they didn’t care. Sony probably made the assumption people pay attention to those things. I will continue to play. For Democracy!

If you did leave a negative review consider taking it down. It is still a very great game. I’m going to delete mine but am not going to give a positive one due to the fuckery.

    Amazon

With the addition of ads for paying users, is there anything subscribers can do to protest? I hate ads with a passion.

Maybe separate all shipping items to cost them more? I’m not seeing many options other than cancellation

    Tipping culture in U.S.

There are laws in place for service workers related to minimum wage. The employers have to make up the difference if tips don’t meet the rate for hours worked. It seems to me that’s not sufficient for the times.

Hypothetically, if everyone were to stop tipping in the U.S. would things be better or worse for workers? Would employers start paying workers more?
