  • Here’s what that looks like for me. Basically a controller_fan configured to kick off with the steppers.

    #Case fan for cooling when heating bed [controller_fan controller_fan] pin: YOUR_FAN_PIN_HERE heater: heater_bed stepper: stepper_x,stepper_y,stepper_z heater_temp: 40.0 fan_speed: 0.8 shutdown_speed: 1.0 kick_start_time: 0.5

  • Is it running Klipper or something else?

In Klipper I have my controller board fan set to speed up only when there’s any active heaters or stepper drivers?

E.g. fires up only when moving/heating or printing but not when idle. Even then it’s set to a reasonable 80% threshold.

  • I always took the unhinged erratic behavior as the point (Ala Ledgers Joker) but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on it.

  • I don’t think so… just thinking of some of the best performances of complex villains lately.

  • Add the Amanda Plummer as Vadic. Those are some phenomenal performances.

  • I feel you on getting these things settled. My Frankender is pretty reliable and making sure the foundational stuff is good is key.

Here’s a comment I made here about a year back breaking down how to square, align and level these things

The context is Klipper which I’m running but the physical stuff applies across the board

  • May be a good time to see if there bits of filament in the extruder gears and if they’re ok. And, if they are, to clean the nozzle either by using filament or a cold pull.

  • Because they’re really good out of the box printers and prior to this for somebody that wanted something that “just works” it would be Prusa or Bambu I’d recommend.

I love tinkering and tweaking and I’m building a Voron but it’s not hard to understand how overwhelming choices can be and it’s understandable that people would choose to lock into an ecosystem specifically because it lets them just print.

I would never buy a Bambu and wouldn’t recommend it for anybody building a company with essential components having them in the pipeline but then again most people aren’t that aware and their research, understandably, led them to buying one.

I agree with OP, this is an opportunity to be empathic and to help them. And they’re learning the hard way a lesson they’ll take forward. I’d prefer that lesson to be “more careful” and not “these people are snobs”

  • There’s also the retraction/wipe of filament. So if you can’t do it inside the print then the tower is used to give that surface to wipe off against.

Worst case then would be boogers/wisps

  • The blood vessels can be permanently damaged from an erection that long so it tracks.

This is why the Viagra commercials have that “if you have an erection lasting longer than 4 hours” bit. It is a serious issue that if not addressed can lead to permanent damage that can make it impossible to have an erection.

  • The panning effect reminds me of the chopper in Metallica’s One (definitely want headphones to “feel” the effect)

This isn’t my particular skill/talent but I found some info that I hope can help. But do take it with a huge grain of salt and definitely look into what others say with the relevant experience.

  • I checked the good reads list of top rated hard science and saw a few items I can recommend.

    • Altered Carbon. A fun and intense read. Future hard science. If people’s consciousness could be transmitted/used for interstellar travel kind of thing then the scenarios listed here adhere to their own crazy rules.
    • Three Body Problem. First book is amazing. The sequels are good enough but the translations are a little rougher but the story carries through.
    • Enders Game. Tactical and hard science aspects to it. Gets more metaphysical later in the series.
    • Contact. Absolute gem that I re-read a few years back.
    • Ancillary Justice. More future/hard science but worth mentioning in any list I’m willing to put Altered Carbon in. It has a viewpoint and it’s use of alternate societal perspectives (from a society that is uniform in so many ways to organic “ship” drones to questions about what is a person/identity) all wrapped in a great sci-fi story
    • The moon is a harsh mistress. A little dated and the way women/people are referenced shows it (much like foundation) but a solid one that is a little more hard science and may be more in line with what you’re thinking of.

Going over this list I realize how hard it is to find true hard science (Martian) that doesn’t lean into the more future tech but consistent physical laws (Expanse) to way future nano tech or consciousness transfer (Altered Carbon, etc)

  • Do you like protagonists that use their wits to beat a scenario or the hard science more?

For example a fun read that’s, in my opinion, best experienced as an audiobook is the dungeon crawler carl. It’s definitely a good example of the first type. It’s not realistic. It’s literally real life made into a D&D game (LitRPG) it is just one scenario after another of Carl just finding ways to manipulate and play with the “rules” of the messed up game.

If you’re more into the hard science than The Expanse as others have said. Or maybe even the Revelation Space series where it is future tech but relativistic time plays a part. Less of the “one person/group against all odds” but a good read nonetheless.

  • Disclaimer: Note, previous and current holders of dawnshards may not be able to say no, use force, sleep, refuse attractive forces towards other dawn shards, be at peace, marry, have children.

Other side effects also include failure to remain cohesive, stretching of spiritual aspects, shrinking of spiritual aspects, damage to spiritual aspects, a need to travel and/or be hunted, die, and in some cases… be unable to die.
