Monero social media site starts off with educational shit talking
  • Yeah, we're going to be doing a Simplified Privacy podcast starting soon. A mix of educational segments and interviews. And yeah like you mentioned mentioning Monero, but not solely focused on Monero

  • “Why Privacy” Video with Great Examples & XMR promos
  • thanks for your time Charlie

  • “Why Privacy” Video with Great Examples & XMR promos

I’ve posted videos before on “Why Monero”, but this one takes a step back and asks Why Privacy in general. We’ve flashed the Monero logo 3 times throughout the video, especially on the part that says “unconditional wealth”.

How does this video benefit you?

It’s full of great examples and arguments you can use in convincing friends about Monero and the harm of invasive Big Tech. Just using freedom tech yourself is not enough, you have to get the people you’re talking to, or interacting with to accept Monero, use encrypted messengers, ect.

Also this subtle soft-sells Monero by flashing the logo a few times to pique interest, but without bashing people over the head with it. https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/why-privacy/

MoneroTalk & Economy via uncensored means?
  • Appreciate your time

  • MoneroTalk & Economy via uncensored means?
  • Thanks so much mate, reach out once we got this fully setup if you're interested in promoting whatever you're doing through the platform.

  • MoneroTalk & Economy via uncensored means?
  • Hey you have to use their blockchain to get short Session names, the name prancer389 isn't assigned. What's the long form numbers and letters of your account?

Edit clarify: By "names" I mean DNS, finding you. You can type anything into the display, just like twitter. But it's not the real username

  • MoneroTalk & Economy via uncensored means?

I appeared on the Monero Talk podcast, to discuss the new Session bot software Simplified Privacy has been creating. This would allow for the uncensored distribution of content, even under the harshest conditions such as an outright Monero ban.

See the instance setup yourself, by sending a message on Session to the ID: “MoneroTalk”

One word, without quotes. You can download session at getsession.org. As well as the other instance we have setup, at "Simple"

It’s a very long podcast, but I start at 1 hour 17 minutes in, https://www.monerotalk.live/digital-privacy-w-simplified-privacy-monero-price-report-news-more-epi-152

And I see the posts here about Nostr, I’m a fan of that too. This compliments Nostr perfectly. As Nostr is weaker censorship, but easier to spread on the clearweb.

Extension on the US Surveillance Decision

This is an article, not a video.

Summary Highlight copy pasted: Today was supposed to be a pivotal moment where the US surveillance programs (that allow warrantless wiretapping) would either be reformed or expanded. Dual competing versions of the new bills were supposed to be voted on today in Congress, with only one moving forward. Instead surprisingly, due to public backlash, the Speaker of the House decided to pull both versions of the bills from being voted on, and moved to extend the status quo.

    Monero on Nostr: Some progress
  • Hi, thanks for the reply. So with Mastodon, your identity is tied to a server which the admin can censor. If you own the server, then other servers can censor via defederation. This becomes an issue in the case that Monero is banned by governments and physical locations with IP addresses have to comply.

Instead, Nostr separates identity from physical locations through encryption. This allows you to own your identity like you'd self-custody Monero. This video goes over the basics: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrtutorial/

  • New SearX on Monero VPS
  • thank you for support

  • Monero on Nostr: Some progress

The Monero coup of Nostr continues? Yes, Simplified Privacy made a new tutorial on the Gossip client for desktop, and it had a brief reference to encourage the use of Pluja’s Monero Nostr relay. While this was a small part of the overall video, the lead developer of the client reposted it to his Nostr feed! We want to break down barriers and allow discussion for all!

Brief Background: Nostr is a decentralized Twitter perfect for Monero discussion and distribution after a potential ban. The sore point is that has bitcoin lightning zaps built in to many clients… However, the bitcoin part is completely separate from the core message protocol and Monero could be used instead IF THERE WAS THE WILL to do so….

In order to encourage more Monero users to adopt Nostr, Simplified Privacy continues to pump out tutorial videos. Many different clients can be used, just like there’s many different XMR wallets.

Our new animated tutorial covers Gossip, a secure client for Linux/Windows/Mac: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/gossip/

(Gossip is great for Tor speed and security.)

This briefly discussed Pluja’s XMR relay, creator of KYC not Me: xmr.usenostr.org

And if you know nothing about Nostr, check our previous tutorial on Amethyst, Iris, & Primal: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrtutorial/

Here’s our Nostr Public Key: npub14slk4lshtylkrqg9z0dvng09gn58h88frvnax7uga3v0h25szj4qzjt5d6

We got this! DM and we’ll follow back (if you actually post about XMR)

I am a man of optimism! I may fail, but if I do nothing, that’s also a failure. So might as well give it a shot.

    New SearX on Monero VPS
    searx.simplifiedprivacy.com searxng

    SearXNG — a privacy-respecting, open metasearch engine

Simplified Privacy is now running a free SearXNG Search Engine front end for your convenience:

    searx.simplifiedprivacy.com

This acts as an open source proxy for your searches to a mix of search engines to guarantee no logs or browser fingerprinting. If you forget the URL, it's on the Resources tab on our website.

What does this have to do with Monero?

    1. We have a big Monero icon on our main logo with lots of pro-friendly Monero content. As we expose different communities to this (Nostr, SimpleX, Session, forums), it promotes and solidifies Monero’s presence in the broader privacy community.

    2. We’re literally hosting this on Kyun.host which is a Monero-only free-speech friendly VPS provider. If you need an XMR node, this is your spot!

If you want to find out about new free privacy resources we will be hosting in the future, follow us on Nostr: npub14slk4lshtylkrqg9z0dvng09gn58h88frvnax7uga3v0h25szj4qzjt5d6

Or DM the Session messenger bot with the Session ID: Simple

    5
What do you think about OXEM?
  • Session not only is privacy but also free speech! It’s a huge problem that the government controls DNS or domain names that point to IP addresses. You don’t own a domain, they rent it to you.

Our team has developed software for a distribution bot using Session messenger because Session has blockchain based DNS on top of onion routed privacy. This video explains how it works: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/sessionbot/

  • Nostr Tutorial to on-board Monero

The movement to bring Monero to Nostr is growing, so we can survive in a post XMR-ban world.

As the United Nations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and partners of the Rockefeller Foundation are pushing for a plan to accelerate digital IDs called “50 in 5” with 11 countries already signing up...

As US politicians such as Nikki Haley promote forced identification on social media..

Nostr, a decentralized Twitter, continues to not only grow in popularity, but see privacy content dominate the platform. To help on-board you, I just made a new video tutorial covering the basics of how it works, and a few clients including Amethyst, Iris, and Primal: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrtutorial/

The number of Monero heads on Nostr continues to grow. It’s a force that can’t be stopped. We got the pitchforks in the air, “Privacy by default!”

SimpleX is a private encrypted messenger that creates new identities for each conversation. However, as we pointed out in a previous video, when you first install the app, it’s all the developer’s own servers. This has metadata and centralization risks. We are here to help.

SimplifiedPrivacy.com is a completely different firm than SimpleX (although we share the same first word). We just released a tutorial video with a self-host script for any Debian/Ubuntu VPS that you can use to easily self-host a SimpleX server: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/simplex/

In the tutorial video, we taught how to use Kyun.host a Monero focused free speech provider in Romania that we recommend! However, you can use any provider.

Here is the script on our self-hosted gitlab on Kyun with an Iceland domain: https://git.simplifiedprivacy.is/publicgroup/simplex-self-host/

If you do not wish to self-host, you can add our SimpleX servers to your app for free:

    XMPP Clients Overview

I'm making educational content OFF youtube/google. Even if you already know this information, this video is useful to send to a beginner you want to talk with.

XMPP is considered the gold standard of encrypted messengers by both cybersecurity academics and black market criminals, but because its just decentralized code with no clear corporation behind it, there is a lack of a marketing budget or educational materials.

Why use XMPP? Because it’s fast and efficient for use with Tor. It’s easy to host your own server and because it’s fully decentralized, there is no official client for corrupt governments to ban from app stores. This client flexibility gives both users and developers the freedom to participate in the system with a variety of different features. However, different clients work on different operating systems.

This video gives a broad overview of XMPP Clients for beginners: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/xmppclients/

  • fluffypony Riccardo Spagni - Proposal: Disband Core
  • I am fairly new to this community, so I have no official say. But has Core considered distributing Monero binaries via Nostr, IPFS, Arweave, akash, Session, or other decentralized means? This would allow for more decentralization of staff and censorship resistance than a credit card government domain. Also could be both. just more options. And then different core members could do the different official channels, which would quickly raise alarm bells if Nostr has a different binary than getmonero.org

    WireGuard’s privacy flaws?
  • You’re correct that UDP is not “suspicious”, but it is easier to track from an ISP that a VPN is being used. The video stressed that this was a risk for those concerned with censorship from the ISP for using a VPN. Even the WireGuard official website says this is not ideal for obfuscation.

Regarding the VPN→Tor, it places a greater level of trust on the VPN provider to properly implement WireGuard key rotation. If the VPN provider is using a dedicated server, such as Mullvad, then that’s great. Other VPN providers are shady and use VM clouds from popular datacenters. Cloud computing shares RAM resources and thus it’s keeping in memory longer the association. It’s also possible that the same datacenter can be hosting a Tor node and a VPN. Many VPNs use the same third party datacenters. It’s not that WireGuard is inherently insecure, it’s that there is no benefit to using during Tor for increased risk. And these increased risks all revolve around more trust.

Simplified Privacy is a “no-fiat” Monero phone supplier. Keep the economy circular, as we don’t spend the XMR you give us for fiat, if it is spent, it’s within the community.

If you buy a Pixel 8 from a fiat supplier, it ties the IMEI to your credit card, which connects to cell towers. This means government thugs watch your location like a pet dog with a “find me” collar.

    Monero on Nostr

What is Nostr? Nostr is decentralized messaging system with the most prevalent current use case being a censorship resistant twitter. It currently has custodial bitcoin lighting payments built in.

Can Monero be added instead of bitcoin? Yes, Bitcoin lightning is completely separate from the message protocol. You absolutely can have a client for Monero tipping, that can communicate with non-monero clients. The bitcoiners would just not see the monero part.

Why care about Nostr? It’s a “self-custodial twitter”. Nostr lets you own your audience like Monero lets you own your money. This is important as governments crack down on free speech, and would allow for an open forum for monero to continue discussion during a ban. To say "why care about Nostr?" is like saying "Why care about free speech?"

Are Nostr DMs private? They can be if you use certain clients. This video goes over Nostr privacy & some basics: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrprivacy/

What attempts have been made so far to put Monero on Nostr? There’s been multiple funding attempts including one with Cake Wallet, but it’s not gained that much attention. Mostly due to Monero people being so insane angry about the Bitcoin Maxis that are on Nostr, however we need to separate the technology from the people talking on that technology. To say "Forget Nostr because Bitcoin Maxis use it" is like saying "Forget Monero because criminals use it"

Why is Nostr better than mastodon? Mastodon ties identity to DNS server IP addresses. IP addresses are tied to physical locations which the basis for government control via violence. While as Nostr ties identity to public keys beyond tyranny's grasp. Also on Mastodon, groups have de-federation lists, which is coordinated censorship.

What do you want from me? I’m not asking for money, the Nostr Monero client will get funded if there’s active community on it. I’m asking for you to make a Nostr account and have fun. Here’s a list of some XMR heads on the platform you can check out:

    Shadow Rebel Unmasked

Up until now, I have been doing privacy videos with just my voice. Now after viewers refused to connect even a $0 Ethereum wallet because of a complete lack of trust in an anonymous shadowy figure, I have come forward to sacrifice my anonymity to advocate for and spread adoption of decentralized social media that is more resistant to censorship.

Yes the website is not fully decentralized yet. Yes MetaMask has privacy issues. But if you evaluate the technology we’re presenting, you'll understand why it's better than Google’s Youtube.

Before you curse this out as a scam without even understanding what it is, check out this video where I explain “encryption as identity” and how the Ethereum-powered video website works: https://vid.simplifiedprivacy.com/news/0x81ad645949cb936067f2f90f022e00a45cc75377b16eed0427e9e98c685951d4730bd09ba4f1fb4761d43281db2a8febe7017e304f1626d4bbba163c4a379cba1b

Why is this relevant to Monero? Because my videos will be a bunch of Monero wallet tutorials.

Beyond Money: Remake the whole Internet (animated 2 min video)

Hey I know I've been posting a lot about the liberty tech stack, and I thank you for those who listen. I am very passionate about this and working with a great animator. Many people have a vision for the internet that empowers users beyond just Monero as Money. I'm talking about the entire infrastructure. There's pieces of it that exist now, we should actually adopt them.

This animated 2-minute video explains a new framework to reject tyranny using a concept I call “encryption as identity”. What this means is communication and decentralized value systems divorced from traditional domain names, IP addresses, and external control or censorship. Everyone knows the example of Monero as money, but this video goes over some examples of these types of systems replacing Twitter, Telegram, and government-promoted DNS.

    Let freedom ring: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/encryptionidentity/

Now let's address Monero specific concerns you should read after you watch the 2 minute video. Why does the Monero community dislike Nostr?

Nostr is not tied to any particular cryptocurrency. It’s just a protocol for sending messages. Nostr currently has bitcoin lightning tied to it, and so Bitcoin maxis dominate the userbase. But the actual protocol for content is different than the tipping on lightning. We have to separate the technology from the people on it. Various developers are already working on Monero solutions with interoperability. And Luke Parker gave a talk on the Monero Talk podcast about how Monero can be implemented. As far as the bitcoin maxi community being toxic, that’s true. But we need to be showing up to debate them. Our team is animating videos, making memes, promoting privacy. Why don’t you reach out and be part of the solution? Here’s our Nostr public key, we’ll repost your pro-XMR content.

    npub14slk4lshtylkrqg9z0dvng09gn58h88frvnax7uga3v0h25szj4qzjt5d6

The list of who we follow on there is mostly pro-privacy pro-XMR people to fill your feed with. And Ameythst is in F-Droid has an incognito DM.

Why does the Monero community dislike Session?

Session is built using a proof of stake fork of Monero. So Monero people are angry that anyone dare to compete. First of all, this is Bitcoin’s attitude to Monero. Second, the communication platform does not require the end user to pay for or use this cryptocurrency. The oxen cryptocurrency that backs it should be thought of as a fund-raising tool for the company, and not a “currency”. It’s like corporate stock. It pays the company a percentage of the mining reward, so it’s more like a dividend. The actual communication platform is excellent, try it.

    To the haters,

Rather than sit around and complain there is no utopian alternative, I promote adoption of tools that fit with the vision of encryption as identity for uncensored free speech. At the end of the day, Monero is just speech. I’m talking to say that I transfer units to you. And when these government thugs come to censor this speech, I will be ready with entire communities on a new IT stack. I am a man of action. I am a man of optimism.

Libertarian Tech Video covers Monero in the real world

This video heavily promotes Monero, but as part of a complete package for liberty.

Libertarians promote political freedom, but often ignore technology freedom. For example, the main party website LP.org makes 3rd party JavaScript calls to Google and Facebook, visible with the browser extension uBlock Origin. This JavaScript allows these Big Tech firms to do surveillance on behalf of the government and these are the same organizations that suppress pro-freedom speech.

Most Libertarian groups such as Mises or Cato are reliant on Democrat-controlled big tech platforms to spread their message and do not teach fundamental decentralized tech infrastructure for resilience against oppression.

This video goes over an introduction to Digital Freedom for Libertarians including:

    1. Operating systems on the phone and PC
    2. Monero gift cards & debit cards
    3. Decentralized Instant messaging
    4. Decentralized Email

Monero's Home: XMPP vs Matrix (video)

Monero's home is right now on Matrix. I'm disputing that. This is a video follow-up with some of the replies from last time.

If you are new, XMPP and Matrix are two competing federated end-to-end encrypted messengers. XMPP is far better, on server cost decentralization, speed over Tor, degoogled push notifications, multi-identities, and overall privacy. So if Matrix is inferior centralized bloatware, why is it more popular? Especially among XMR techies, who should in theory understand these concepts.

This brand new video gives a quick overview of the technical reasons that XMPP is the gold standard king of federation. And it briefly discusses how Matrix manages to push it’s agenda: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/xmpp-vs-matrix-why-matrix-sucks/

Some critics will say that “Matrix is a complete package, while XMPP is fragmented”. This is essentially propaganda, because all the XMPP clients interact (Dino, Gajim, conversations, monocles). The only one that doesn’t interact is OTR encryption from pidgin which provides an alternative for hardcore cypherpunks who want to destroy the encryption keys when the conversation is done. So because one single client has an alternative use case, the Matrix cheerleaders want us to fill out Google Captcha spyware to register on Matrix.org because it costs so much to self-host.

    Nostr needs a Monero Takeover

In my view, Monero is only one piece of the equation to digital freedom. You need the rest of the “encryption as identity” tech stack:

Monero is to Money, What Session is to Telegram, And Nostr is to Twitter.

Censorship on Twitter has given rise to this decentralized micro-blogging alternative that uses encryption as identity for unstoppable free speech.

I narrated this brand new animated video which goes over how Nostr works and why it matters: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostr/
