Queen thought Meghan’s wedding dress was ‘too white’ as Sussexes mark 6th anniversary
  • First wedding dresses are traditionally white. After that they aren’t. She wasn’t wrong but standards have moved on without her.

  • Do you dream? How often?
  • I don’t remember my dreams most nights. I also have a terrible memory so it doesn’t surprise me. I go to sleep blissfully and wake up realizing time has past but not remembering anything I dreamt. Sounds awful but I don’t typically like the dreams I do have (usually brought on by me being too hot while asleep).

  • Not sure why this was posted here. It’s not surprising an elderly lady had that opinion.

  • What's the best wax-on-wax-off-style advice you've heard that you can attest as being helpful in certain situations?
  • “People buy based on emotion, not logic.”

Great advice for the sales world. And let’s face it, everyone, including you, is selling something.

  • What's the best wax-on-wax-off-style advice you've heard that you can attest as being helpful in certain situations?
  • Don’t get caught up in the phrasing, which should be tailored to each individual need in the moment. Instead, look at what they’re saying, just ask questions and actively listen. They should do more of the talking and people love to tell stories, especially of loved ones. This isn’t going to be the best approach for everyone but it will be for most people.

  • 4ish years ago when I bought a house I was convinced not to get a house inspection, would it be crazy to get one now just to make sure it's all good?
  • And don’t be surprised at the prices on actual fixes not just shitty band-aids. They’re crazy expensive.

Ex. My home builder didn’t put a sump pump in our new build (and honestly, they should’ve forced us to have a few) and we didn’t know this would be an issue. In the monsoon season we got flooding, yay. A permanent fix with a lifetime warranty of 3 sumps was $25K. If we had put it in during building it would’ve been a few thousand. Peace of mind is typically gonna cost you.

If you have a basement I’d recommend they check the foundation. Have a plumber check your system (PRV, expansion tank, water heater, valves, toilets, drain lines). If it’s an older house have them check the electrical panel and wiring. They don’t last forever and can cause fires. How is the roof doing? HVAC system? Etc. Find an inspector that can do a thorough inspection because they’re are some lazy ones out there or people who just don’t know what to really look for. Ideally you contact each trade to give you an in depth diagnosis.

  • What adblocker are you using on iOS?
  • Eero’s home network ad blocker paired with AdGuard. Works well enough. Although so many people have blockers now that even my favorite sites, which I whitelist, are tough to read because of the amount of ads keeping them in business. ArsTechnica I’m looking at you. Yeah, I could subscribe but I’m a cheap bastard. I’d rather be able to retire than pay for a site.

  • Honestly Apple Maps is better in my area by a decent margin. It’s up to date sooner and that matters in a rapidly growing city. Google still beats it in search but even then AM finds things it doesn’t at times. i just wish they’d move on from shitty Yelp. I vastly prefer AMs navigation over GM as well.

  • I was about to say, for work trips I absolutely can’t and don’t. I’m not paying for it, I probably don’t want to actually be whenever I’m at anyway. I might for exceptional service on a holiday or if I want quick service again but never do as a standard.

My prints come out very well but I’m noticing on larger prints that one corner of my bed prints tighter than the opposite. What’s causing this?

Printing on an Ender 3 Pro with upgraded metal extruder, beefier bed springs and metal levelers, and upgraded hot end. Not direct drive yet and no auto bed leveling.

Unaffiliated Voter in CO - Who to vote for in Primaries?

In Colorado this year (2024), unaffiliated voters were mailed out their ballots for both the Democratic and Republican Presidential Primaries and get the chance to vote in one or the other (NOT both).

I’m fairly centrist. I lean left on progressive ideals and right on economic (yeah, it’s fun /s).

The question is, who’s should I put my vote in for? Is it better to vote for Biden or another candidate in the Democratic, or another candidate that isn’t Trump in the Republican. Again, we can only vote in one of the primaries or our vote won’t count if we vote in both. It’s one or the other.

    What is best?
