  • They mean that they put the guard rail on the other side so it's less likely a car with get scratched by accidentally rubbing up against the rail by getting too close if they aren't paying attention. Instead they will just run over a pedestrian. Of course the rail is there to prevent them from going into the ditch, but it would do that either way whether it's on one side of the walkway or the other.

And the foliage would take over the walkway no matter where the rail is, there's no root barrier or anything, so they still need to maintain the vegetation with landscape crews anyway.

Rails preventing pedestrians crossing the street would probably also be a good thing because usually they are on a corner/curve which would be very dangerous area to cross with low visibility, they can easily make a gap in the rail at a crosswalk when the road straightens out.

  • Doubles for prostate exams

  • I had a Samsung before I got my first OP and absolutely hated it. Ended up giving it away to a coworker who broke their phone.

Ever since then I've had the OP5, OP9, & OP13 now. First two lasted 4 years each and still worked decent at the end. Hoping this one will do the same and then I'll get the OP17

  • I mean, "sent to his phone at 1:14am" does not mean they actually saw and read the alert at 1:14am.

It's 1:14am. Don't you think he could have been asleep or something?

  • So if country A owes Country B $1B and country B owes Country C $1B and country C owes Country A $1B can't we all just agree to erase that $3B in debt?

  • Pretty much nothing except abortion and weed and gay marriage. I can't trust that the conservatives would leave any of that alone.

  • The boss should just become the landlord, then there wouldn't be any double dipping from the government collecting income taxes paid to the employee and then income taxes paid to the landlord with the remaining already taxed money.

Provide the housing in exchange for work and there's no income to tax!

  • How soon is the next Alberta election? I'm so tired of seeing her face in the news.

  • Not much overall I would guess. Most people going 60-70 in a 50 zone usually just end up getting to the next red light faster, wasting their gas and wearing down their brakes faster.

  • Let's say you don't speak German, when you see the german posts in the ALL feed do you downvote them each and every time because they are in a language you don't understand?

That's not a very good comparison, they were specifically stating they down voted something they thought was harmful and shouldn't be promoted.

For your example it would be closer to seeing a post written in German but it's a post saying positive things about Nazis or something.

Then yeah, I would hope people would down vote it.

  • South Africa has ~64 million people

Which is less than... Britain (~69 million)

Which is less area on the displayed map than the red section.

  • I slept through our house alarm going off

  • Corner gas, Schitt's Creek, also quite good Canadian tv

  • No, it's a "humanitarian" city, so that probably means that they will do a "precision" airstrike on it at some point. It's not a concentration camp, it's a concentrated target.

  • I'm not watching tv for quality and efficient story telling.

I'm watching it to waste time. The longer the better.

I only spend my audible credits on audiobooks that are 20+ hours long.

There can be an absolutely amazing audiobook that's 8 hours long but I can't bring myself to spend my credit on it.

  • I had to drive a new Toyota Tacoma for a biology job. I needed to drive it in "offroad" conditions, which means there was grass over 12" in height (farm field).

It would automatically slam on the brakes and scare the shit out of me every time I tried to reverse and it thought the grass was something I was going to hit.

    Drove me absolutely insane.

  • He takes us to a creek downhill from a new construction site for a data centre being built by US firm Quality Technology Services (QTS).

George Dietz, a local volunteer, scoops up a sample of the water into a clear plastic bag. It's cloudy and brown.

Well, maybe they didn't have proper sediment control but a creek is a lot different than well water. Most people don't drink out of creeks, sediment control is done more for the purpose of protecting fish habitat.

Hauls buckets of water to flush her toilet

What? You're concern is sediment in your well water and then go haul dirty brown sediment filled water from the creek to flush your toilet instead?

Buy a sediment filter for your well water. Even people not beside giant data centres should have one just because it keeps the system functional and running better. It is practically a requirement to have one.

  • And honestly, the vehicle engineers are partly to blame for this in my opinion. Are you telling me there are no sensors in the car to let you know if there is a person in the seat so that their stupid little seatbelt not fasten chimes can ring? If they can tell that there's a person inside, or that there is still a seatbelt buckled, DON'T TURN THE AC OFF AUTOMATICALLY

  • I do not condon leaving children alone in a vehicle for ANY amount of time...

But I also absolutely despise vehicle manufacturers thinking their unnecessary "features" are in any way needed at all, especially in a form which cannot be disabled or needs to be disabled after each time the vehicle turns off and then on.

Fucking hate vehicle manufacturer engineers. Probably one of the least needed jobs out there.

VEHICLES ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING THEY NEED, STOP ADDING SHIT EVERY YEAR JUST FOR THE SAKE OF ADDING SHIT.

  • I can't say I'm convinced? There are thousands of reasons why the poles could shift. But freshwater makes up such a small fraction of a tiny percentage of the mass on earth that I can't see it have that large of an effect, especially when only a fraction of a small percentage of the freshwater is being held by dams.
