  • This is kind of like me when I don't really want to watch a movie or show but I want to know what is it about so I just watch a summarized commentary on YouTube for a fraction of the time

... only I'm aware I don't really want to watch it in the first place

  • I'm not sure I'm understanding you correctly but yes the way art is distributed will change as artists adapt. At the moment, installation, performance and gallery sorts of artists are the least affected by AI and I think some kind of technology or mechanism will eventually emerge for digital artists to distribute their work ( and for traditional artists to be able to safely share it online). I don't know if this will be a closed network, and I'm not sure what you mean by "truly strong and stubborn" though.

  • Or crosswalks, or bicycles

  • No, I'll believe you. I used to work as an artist during covid for a vfx studio. Previously I had done some freelance illustration and other very specialized craft work I'm not going to talk about because it's very niche, and I'll doxx myself.

Anyway, for a variety of reasons beyond my control all that ended, I got depression, unemployed, and while I was trying to get back on my feet we got this fucking AI explosion. All my work posted online has to have been used for training models. And I haven't posted anything online since- in fact I haven't found the motivation to complete a single artwork at the same level I used to. I've been dedicated to learning more technical things in vfx, but failed to get an industry job for over two years now. I got a couple basic customer service jobs for the first time in my life, which I'm not enjoying much and really don't give me an opportunity to use my skills, knowledge or talents in any way, but they give a paycheck so whatever.

While AI isn't the original reason for my unemployment, it really influences my job prospects now (negatively). It has also absolutely ruined what used to be my online network and online art community, which was essential in keeping my mind in the right place. I'm not personally aware of any artists that have committed "passage to another world" (as you say- is this because of word filters?) because of this, but as I've explained I've withdrawn from my previous circles so I wouldn't be surprised artists getting triggered into self harm because of AI. We artists tend to be more sensitive and react more strongly than other people under certain circumstances.

AI and all its consequences really weigh heavily against my mental health - it discourages true artistic expression, which in turn exacerbates isolation and a feeling of pointlessness. Yes it's absolutely a reason people would want to un alive themselves.

  • This one is being non coherent on purpose, it's funny but I wouldn't be sure it's true aneurysm posting

  • Thanks! Yes, I was wondering where would be a good place to start for absolute noobs, thanks for the tip. Investing is a mystery in my life I've been conditioned not to try to understand, perhaps it's time to do something about it.

  • It's hilarious but it shouldn't. I didn't know

  • I thought so too, I'd be upset if he became president of the world

  • I don't live in America, I never had American citizenship, nor family or relatives or any responsibility to vote in your mess guys. Still my president you say?

  • How do you know how to invest? Asking for a friend.

  • Remember that people are often stupid, not evil. You can do pretty awful things if you're dumb enough. Someone's razor, forgot who's

  • I can't tell if this is real or not. Not my president so I don't keep up with everything he does

  • Yes

  • What are they wearing? Looks cool

  • I guess, if you manage to create both sperm and eggs from the same sample and then use it to create an embryo. It sounds prone to a lot of defects though, for the same reason it's not recommended to have offspring with your siblings. I don't think that's what they're going after here.

The presumption is that they would be able to combine sperm and eggs that are different enough to avoid this. Just like with any regular pregnancy.

Keep in mind we already know how to manipulate/edit genes to enhance or suppress traits. Being able to conceive an embryo in vitro means you can now create a human tailored to your liking, without even needing a womb. That's a couple steps beyond cloning.

  • My dream car doesn't exist.

I dream of a small EV, narrower than the current trend of fat cars, with actual mechanical buttons on the dashboard and not a screen you have to look to tap tap tap to get what you are after.

My dream car is data privacy friendly and if not, one can easily jailbreak it.

Its lights are powerful but actually point down, to the road, not to the front; any front pointing lights actually do dim to non blinding intensity.

Any automatic controls it has can be manually overridden if the driver so wishes. That's my dream car.

  • I hope you are so right, I really hope

  • I thought it would be the semicolon, judging from the thumbnail. Now that would piss me off, I love semicolons, it would be unfair if they become the hallmark of LLMs.

I also appreciate the long dash but on mobile keyboard it's so awkward to find that nobody uses it for comments anymore.

  • The roo is good and I would have it more often if not for the price tag.

The ants and mealworms were pan fried, sauteed I guess. They were good. Ants were like a zesty citrus crumb and mealworms were sort of like popcorn.
