A Minnesota Senate ethics panel is expected to begin considering what to do with a lawmaker who’s charged with burglary for allegedly breaking into her estranged stepmother’s house.
Sounds like there might have been some spicy Tru TV drama going down. Step mom and step daughter clearly hate the shit out of each other and have a pretty toxic relationship if people are sneaking into homes and calling the cops on one another.
I vote to see this play out in court first. Step mom sounds like she might be a piece of shit, but the step daughter seems to have dealt with this problem like a moron.
It does sound like a clear cut car case of burglary but until there's a conviction I think this should be dealt with on a party level. The GOP has booted Democrats for way less. The bar for bipartisan expulsion should be high IMO -- felony conviction or repeated rule violations and at least one suspension.
Yeah, but when we’re talking about a dead dad’s house, we could be talking about a place that she’s been coming and going from and has keys too. IMHO, family shit is messy, and context is important.
Edit: although it looks like she was dressed up like the hamburgler and had a flashlight. Ok, that’s wacko.
How to deal with it: what if someone I didn’t like did it? Or conversely, what if someone I liked did it
I say kick her out until her trial is completed and if she's found guilty, suspend indefinitely. I understand wanting to maintain a majority over shitty conservatives, but keeping her around just fuels their view that everyone who isn't them is corrupt. Rightfully so. This time.

Senate Republicans forced hours of debate on unsuccessful attempts to remove her, slowing the pace of legislation as the May 20 adjournment deadline nears.
Republican Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson, of East Grand Forks, who has called on Mitchell to resign, told reporters last week that she deserves due process in court.
He said he expects they’ll go over police reports, her comments on social media and an interview that the stepmother gave to KSTP-TV in which she said she is fearful of Mitchell and disputing the senator’s assertion she was there to check on her well-being.
