Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said in a statement on X Tuesday night, as votes rolled in and "no" votes pulled out ahead, "the people of Kansas City and Jackson County love the Chiefs and Royals."
"Today, they rejected plans and processes they found inadequate. Over the months ahead, I look forward to working with the Chiefs and Royals to build a stronger, more open, and collaborative process that will ensure the teams, their events and investments remain in Kansas City for generations to come," he said.
Oops, there is is. Not going to let a little thing like democracy get in the way of robbing the public and putting the money in capitalist hands.
Groups like KC Tenants worked hard and fought against lots of big money that was pushing for this. Show some solidarity.

  They did build a tiny street car, but it’s just a mile long stretch that connects the corporate mega projects to the open container alcohol zone. Hopefully one day it can turn into a useful alternative to owning a car in a city full of empty private parking lots.
I remember when Wisconsin cut it's university system by 300m and then gave a 300m tax credit to the Milwaukee Bucks. glad somebody isn't doing that for once

The best part of this proposed tax was them admitting it would earn them 2 billion over 40 years but don’t worry it’ll bring 200 million in new revenue over the same period.
