Erkenntnis ist der erste Schritt, lass uns aber nicht von "wird schon nicht so schlimm" vor 10 Jahren direkt zu "jetzt ist eh zu spät" wechseln, sondern aktiv werden! Diese Superkrise ist das wichtigste, was wir in diesem Leben angehen können, jede:r als Mini-Puzzlestück im großen Ganzen. Sie stiftet auf absurde Art auch mehr Sinn, als der sinnlose Verbraucher-Lifestyle vor 30 Jahren: Arbeiten, Spielzeuge kaufen, sterben.

So ein Quark, Überbevölkerung ist nur ein geringerer Teilaspekt des Problems, womit man durchaus umgehen kann, wenn man Städte vernünftig plant und Ressourcen vermünftig nutzt. Das Problem ist in erster Linie der wahnsinnige Ressourcenverbrauch und der liegt im Westen schon allein pro Kopf extrem viel höher, wo btw die Geburtenraten sinken, als in Ländern die ein hohes Bevölkerungswachstum haben.
Unser Lebensstil ist das Problem, nicht das Bevölkerungswachstum. Wir können locker 11 Milliarden gesund satt bekommen, aber nicht mit Schnitzel, jeden Tag duschen und einmal im Jahr Urlaub auf einem anderen Kontinent.
In den reichen Ländern gehen die Geburten zurück aber die Klimaschäden durch die reichen Länder steigen. Willst du die Schuld auf die Länder schieben wo die Geburtenrate hoch ist?
Kriegst meinen Angry Upvote. Ich habe mir darüber Gedanken gemacht und stimme dir tatsächlich zu dass der ethische Ansatz wenn man Nachwuchs möchte theoretisch die Adoption von z.B. Waisenkindern ist. In der Praxis bin ich tatsächlich sehr egoistisch und hätte gerne ein Kind das aussieht wie wir und „unseres“ ist. Macht rational keinen Sinn, ist glaub ich dennoch sehr menschlich.
Adoption ist zwar soweit ich weiß auch gar nicht mal eben so, also man kann ja nicht einfach ins Kinderheim zum Shoppen gehen. Aber ich glaube der Kern ist doch dieser sehr menschliche Drang, die eigene Genetik weiterzutragen. Da muss man schon sehr stark sein, um sich aus voller Überzeugung dagegen zu entscheiden.
Wenn ich noch mehr Konsumverzicht übe, muss ich auch noch auf das Atmen verzichten und es nützt halt gefühlt nichts. 58 Jahre und nie ein Auto besessen, nur einmal im Leben in Urlaub geflogen, nie mehr als drei Paar Schuhe im Schrank gehabt und eh nicht genug Geld für mehr als einmal in der Woche Fleisch und heute ein Paar Hosen weggeworfen die ich seit 12 Jahren hatte und die sich einfach nicht mehr flicken lassen und sich nicht als Putzlappen eignen.
Ich bin müde und irgendwie froh dass ich keine Kinder habe und krank genug um zu wissen ich kriege das ganz heiße Ende nicht mehr mit. Allerdings habe ich jetzt schon Bammel vor dem Sommer in der Dachgeschosswohnung - Es wird nicht nur immer heisser hier im Sommer , ich vertrage es, je älter und kränker ich werde, auch immer schlechter.
Ich muss jetzt mindestens eine Stunde lang Katzenbilder gucken um Ausgleich herzustellen.
Hm, ich weiß nicht, was ich von dem Vortrag halten soll. Irgendwie will ich ihm seine Widersprüchlichkeit verzeihen, weil er ja schließlich zu Finanzmenschen redet. Aber das dann online zu stellen?
Also einmal scheint er ja die Schuldfrage des Konsums zugunsten von Unternehmen/Industrie zu beantworten. Nicht die Großindustrie ist schuld, sondern Individuen, die konsumieren. Und da weiß ich jetzt schon nicht, ob er das ernst meint oder das nur sagt, weil er mit Vertreter:innen der Finanzindustrie redet und denen das besser verkaufen will. Aber wie gesagt, das dann unkommentiert online stellen finde ich blöd. Natürlich ist es gut, wenn Leute nicht immer wieder müde Ausreden bringen, mit denen sie ihre Doppelmoral und den eigenen klimaschädlichen Lebensstandard rechtfertigen können. Aber wie will man denn in dieser Gesellschaft bitte nicht klimaschädlich handeln, vor allem, wenn man nicht so viel Geld hat? Ich kann mir den Aufwand und vor allem den Preis von unverpackten Lebensmitteln einfach nicht leisten! Und welche Bioprodukte sind bitte wirklich ernsthaft nachhaltig und nicht klimaschädlich? Genausowenig kann ich komplett vegan leben, denn auch für meine pflanzlichen Lebensmittel werden ja ständig Tiere getötet. Und wie ethisch ist es, dass z.B. migrantische Zwangsarbeiter:innen in Italien dann mein Biogemüse ernten? Nix davon ist ein Grund dafür, nicht zu versuchen, so gut es geht vegan, klimaschonend und ethisch zu leben. Aber im Kapitalismus ist ethischer Konsum halt nicht möglich.
Und was ist bitte mit der Großindustrie? Warum wird davon nix im Vortrag erwähnt? Häh?
Auch dieses permanente Wiederholen von "keine Meinung, nur Messwerte" hat meine innere Wissenschaftlerin völlig fertig gemacht. Wissenschaft ist nicht objektiv, sie kann nur versuchen möglichst nah an eine objektive Darstellung heranzukommen. Aber zu sagen, dass das ganze meinungsfrei wäre, ist bullshit. Vor allem, weil er ja dann auch noch den ethischen Appell bringt, dass man Hühner etc nicht schlachten soll. Ich bin da voll seiner Meinung und für mich ist das Schlachten von Tieren tatsächlich Mord. Aber dann zu behaupten, man würde hier nur Daten zeigen und keine Meinung ist dann halt komplett abwägig. Vor allem, weil dieser Punkt ökologisch völlig egal ist.
Und bei glaube der vorletzten Folie, wo es um die verschiedenen Gerichte und ihre Schädlichkeit fürs Klima geht, erklärt er, warum Fleisch und so viel klimaschädlicher sein soll. Aber die Y-Achse gibt laut Grafik nur den Anteil an den verschiedenen Gerichten an.
Im Ganzen stimme ich natürlich inhaltlich größtenteils mit ihm überein. Und wahrscheinlich können weniger analytisch-logisch veranlagte Personen mit dem Vortrag viel mehr anfangen als ich. Aber die Ausführung fand ich persönlich echt schlecht. Schade :(
Benecke ist in allen Vorträgen so, auch wenn er nicht zu Finanz-Heinis redet. Ich denke, dass das einfach sein Stil ist. 🤷 Aber ich versteh dich da absolut. Obwohl ich ihm in den meisten Punkten zustimme, finde ich seine Vorträge immer sehr anstrengend.
Edit: weil ich nicht ungerecht sein möchte: er scheint ziemlich erfolgreich zu sein mit dem, was er tut. Von daher soll er bitte weitermachen. Wenn es diese Art braucht, damit etwas passiert, dann bin ich all in.
Wenns funktioniert, soll er ruhig weitermachen. Da stimme ich dir zu. Aber es regt mich halt auf, dass er so viel Quatsch dabei erzählt, der so sehr vereinfacht ist, dass es schon falsch wird. Ich glaube, ich stimme ihm ideologisch zu, aber nicht inhaltlich.
Bei Konsumkritik muss man schon unterscheiden, ob es da um die Deckung von lebensnotwendigen Bedürfnissen geht oder um Luxusartikel. Deine Beispiele sind alle auf Nahrung gemünzt und dein Punkt ist auch korrekt, dass ethisches konsumieren da schwierig ist. Aber ich vermute, dass im Vortrag eher der Konsum von nicht notwendigen Gütern gemeint ist: Tausende Klamotten, ständig neue Smartphones, Autos, irgendwelche sinnlosen Gadgets usw. Da bedienen Unternehmen den Markt, weil er besteht. Ich habe wirklich ein paar Leute in meinem Umkreis, die die Glücksgefühle von ihren Shopping Sprees als Copingmechanismus verwenden.
Zusammengefasst: Bei lebensnotwendigen Sachen muss die Industrie klimafreundlicher werden, die Richtung kann man mit Kaufentscheidungen steuern, wie der Boom veganer Produkte zeigt. Bei nicht lebensnotwendigen Dingen kann man als Konsument auch mal darüber nachdenken, ob das Produkt wirklich benötigt wird.
Er geht dabei schon ziemlich spezifisch auf Ernährung und nur gelegentlich auf Kleidung ein und legt auch beim Essen den Fokus ziemlich auf den Kosument. Begründung: Die Mechanismen wie wir sonst den Konsum beeinflussen würden sind zu langsam. Entweder es machen jetzt genug Leute mit oder es wird halt nichts.
Ja klar, das meinte ich ja in meinem Kommentar schon, dass natürlich gut ist, Konsument:innen nicht so leicht davonkommen zu lassen, indem die Industrie alleine Schuld ist. Aber wie auch im restlichen Vortrag argumentiert er hier sehr einseitig und unter Verlust von jeglicher Komplexität. Und das regt mich halt auf, dass seine übermäßig starken Vereinfachung im Endeffekt zu einigen Falschaussagen bzw falschen Schlüssen führen.
Und nur um nochmal auf dein Beispiel einzugehen: inwiefern sind solche vermeintlichen individuellen Entscheidungen wie shopping sprees tatsächlich durch individuelle Veränderungen lösbar bzw inwiefern sind sie nicht Ausdruck eines strukturellen Problems? Ich glaube schlicht nicht daran, dass plötzlich die Mehrheit der Menschen aufgrund eines moralischen Appells ihre Lebensweise ändert. Und dies, obwohl diese Lebensweise ja eine Ausgeburt des Kapitalismus ist, der uns ja alle entfremdeten Wesen macht, die ihre Erfüllung statt in sich selbst im Konsum suchen. Jetzt vorwurfsvoll an Menschen heranzutreten führt eher dazu, dass sich die Psyche noch mehr in dieser Doppelmoral verliert. Wie viele Menschen wissen all das schon seit Jahrzehnten, aber machen sich dann trotzdem über Veganer:innen lustig und essen trotzdem Fleisch? Es wird immer schwerer, das Bild von sich als guter Mensch aufrecht zu erhalten, während man immer bewusster darin wird, dass man schlecht handelt.
Wir brauchen dafür sicherlich Menschen, die früher merken, dass das so nicht weitergehen kann und die sich dann für einen Wandel einsetzen. FFF und ähnliche Gruppen sind dafür richtig gut. Aber man sieht ja auch, dass Gruppen, die zu sehr an dem Selbstbild des guten Menschen rütteln, wie z.B. die Klimaaktivistis, die sich auf Straßen kleben, direkt starke innere Widerstände in der Gesellschaft rühren.
Und abseits von all den individuellen Konsum-Entscheidungen, die man so treffen kann, gibt es halt auch industrielle Zweige, die nicht so einfach über die ebene des Individuums lösbar sind. Sagen wir mal, die Mehrheit der Menschen würde eine nachhaltige, ökologische, vegane, fair erwirtschaftete Landwirtschaft bevorzugen. Aber wie kann sie denn jetzt über ihre individuellen Konsumentscheidungen irgendwas beeinflussen? Also schon mal gar nicht irgendwo in einen Supermarkt gehen, da kriegt man wirklich nichts, was diesen Standards entspricht. Einzig alleine so kleine Bioläden sind vielleicht OK. Aber auch da gehen natürlich nur lokale Produkte und da wir über die Mehrheit der Menschen sprechen, können die sich das a garnicht leisten und b gibt es garnicht genug für alle. Und dann noch, wie sollen die ganzen Menschen auf dem Land denn am Leben teilnehmen ohne öffentlichen Nahverkehr? Wie können sich Menschen ökologisch verträgliche Heizungen und Strom leisten? Wo bekommt man bitte auf der Welt wirklich faire Elektronikgeräte her (selbst das fairphone ist nicht 100% öko/fair) oder sollen plötzlich alle aus dem Internet raus? Und was ist generell mit dem Konsum im Internet? Wir, die wir hier über den Konsum von Menschen urteilen, wissen wir wie viel Umweltschäden all die Serverfarmen auf der Welt anrichten? Oh, und sollten Menschen irgendeinen Müll haben, wie stellen sie sicher, dass der nicht wie bisher einfach an arme Länder exportiert wird? Es gibt einfach so viel, was nicht auf individueller Ebene lösbar ist, das sind nur die Sachen, die mir gerade eben einfallen.
Deshalb denke ich, dass es beides benötigt, strukturelle Veränderung auf politischer und gesamtgesellschaftlicher Ebene. Und aber auch eine gesellschaftliche Bewegung, die diese Veränderungen schon für sich umsetzen und von der Politik einfordern.

Um nur mal diesen einen Aspekt herauszugreifen: Ja, die Zustände für Erntehelferys in den Mittelmeerländern sind nah an der Sklaverei. Da ändert auch der Bioanbau nichts dran. Woran es aber was ändert, ist, ob die Erntehelferys sich beim Ernten durch Pestizide vergiften oder nicht.
Mit der Schuldgeschichte hast du natürlich Recht -- ich finde es braucht beides: einsichtige Konsumentys und staatliche Regulierung hin zu gutem Verhalten (und idealerweise auch einsichtige Produzenten).
Ich gebe dir völlig recht, dass man natürlich versuchen sollte, so gut es geht zu handeln. Mir ging es bei meinem Argument aber darum, dass Mark Benecke behauptet, Menschen, die überhaupt noch unethisch/unökologisch konsumieren, hätten die ganze Verantwortung für das Fortschreiten des Klimawandels. Aber selbst Benecke kann ja nicht umher, als unethisch und unökologisch zu handeln. Und wir alle müssen dieses Scheiß System navigieren, in dem wir die ganze Zeit zweifelhafte Entscheidung zwischen kompletter Selbstaufgabe, Leugnen der Konsequenzen oder unaushaltbaren Schuldgefühlen treffen müssen. Ich verstehe schon, dass man die Leute wachrütteln muss und deshalb würde ich Benecke auch nicht direkt absprechen, nicht damit Leute auch zu erreichen. Aber hier in ner progressiveren Bubble, wo wir sowas detaillierter diskutieren können, können doch feststellen, dass da ein grober Denkfehler vorliegt. Wir haben, auch wenn wir ein Teil der Verantwortung tragen, es eben nicht komplett als Konsument:innen in der Hand den Klimawandel aufzuheben.
Wahrscheinlich bin ich einfach nur salty, weil ich mir seit über nem Jahrzehnt schuldig für meine Existenz fühle und versuche, möglichst keinem Lebewesen bzw dem Planeten was zu Leide zu tun, aber dann eben ständig an der Unmöglichkeit dieses Unterganges scheitere. Und dann gibt es so Leute, die wollen mir ernsthaft erklären, es wäre ja ganz einfach, den Klimawandel und das Leid in der Welt zu lösen. Es müssten nur alle besser und vor allem weniger konsumieren.
Ich hab dazu spontan das hier gefunden, vielleicht kannst du darüber mehr finden? Keine Ahnung ob das eine gute Quelle ist oder nicht, aber die erwähnen ein paar andere Quellen aus der UK und der UN.

Ah ok, danke für die Quelle! Hab mir auch schon gedacht, dass die Bodengesundheit sich von Region zu Rgeion unterscheiden muss. Ja gut, aber die Zeit geht schneller rum als mann meint. Ich mein 2020 war vor vier Jahren und ich kann jetzt nicht sagen, dass in meinem Leben weltbewegend viel passiert ist.
