Spinosarus
Spinosarus
Theory (it's possible): https://tetzoo.com/blog/2020/11/27/trope-of-the-buffalo-backed-dinosaur
The spines on a buffalo are a lot thicker and shorter. Any muscle attached to the spines of a spinosaurus would snap them in half.
76 0 ReplyAlso the buffalo's spine bones are elongated over it's shoulders, whereas the spinosaurus has elongated spine bones start after its shoulders.

An article describing the history of the theory and why it's not really likely: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/was-spinosaurus-a-bison-backed-dinosaur-12849430/

23 0 ReplyI love the idea of this, but the size of their chest cavity leaves me wondering if it's feasible.
19 0 ReplyWould there be heavy ligament anchor points on the bones? It seems like there would be evidence of a completely different muscle build, maybe simply by the size of the spine bones themselves. I'm no bonologist, though.
And yeah, that chest is gnarly (but I'm no chestologist).

Maybe but some modern lizards have spinosaurus like frills so we know it's possible.
6 0 ReplyThough that image of Spino looks shrinkwrapped. Must be old.
5 0 ReplyInteresting idea. Aren’t these huge neck muscles mainly for supporting their huge head while grazing?
5 0 ReplyWrong, it's for yeeting lesser mammals

The Yeetasaurus. Majestic.
4 0 ReplyThat's... probably more plausible, right? Just add feathers.
