Only 53%? Weak and pathetic, like your MAGA Canadians.
You do realize the American government threatened to take over your country TWICE in three months? You do know the American government told you to go fuck yourself when you tried to tax American tech companies?
You know we put more than one Canadian in a concentration camp?
53%. Pssh.
Bump it to 99%. Americans deserve it.
According to this CBC article:
Global Affairs Canada said it's aware of roughly 55 Canadians in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, though it said that the numbers can fluctuate.
Fifty five kidnapped Canadians that they're aware of.
Meme description: Wolf of Wall Street Meme with an image of Matthew McConaughey’s character saying “You gotta pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers.”
I hope 47% aren't drinking then!
I have skipped all the U.S. booze. So 100% from me fam.
I have half a bottle of Southern Comfort, the only American booze I've bought in a long time. For reference, this was bought before Trump was elected. I may have to find an alternative.
But…who was drinking American booze to begin with?
I'm guilty of a High Noon here and there.
I'll just crush sours instead. And let's keep this shit realistic, I'll struggle to finish a 12 pack between here and Christmas. >50% of this households alcohol purchases end up pouring down the drain half a decade+ later
US booze? Bah. I'm here skipping US cauliflower.
Weirdly, because Molson bought Coors, even some of the large American beer brands are Canadian, after a fashion.
I'm the beer guy for the hockey team. When I'm buying beer for the hockey team (in MB), I sale hunt, and it doesn't need to be good. Sometimes it is Coors Light (made in Canada, owned by Canadian-headquartered firm, but US brand). Sometimes it is Labatt. Occasionally Moosehead or Sleeman 2.0. Whatever is on sale. Target price is about $1.60 per can and I can usually get close.
When buying for myself for pleasure, it is inevitably something actually Canadian, and often local. I'm a sucker for the Moosehead Radler. Or Trans Canada Brewing Bluebeary. But occasionally we buy Corona or 1664, sometimes in their non-alcoholic forms. No US brands in sight.
There are so many good options for just about anything you desire, but I feel for the bourbon connoisseurs.
We've got some good stuff up here, I'm not surprised.
I do.
Did before coincidentally too, but now it's on purpose
Hasn't the LCBO made an organizational decision to boycott US products?
That's not a consumer-level decision and I imagine accounts for a lot of it (assuming the self report is accurate).
I am sure the 47% are from Saskatchewan and Alberta. Moe and Smith have said fuck it we will sell US booze.
Only half? C'mon, Canada, you can do better than that.
Here is the breakdown:
So the headline is potentially misleading. I also don't love the survey options, and it's a pretty small sample size
thanks for posting the actual info from the article. For clarity the question was:
I am amused by "I've been drinking less" because it is not at all mutually exclusive with the 2 "Yes" answer. And some scenarios are not even possible
I also highly doubt 12% of people are drinking less. I wonder what the baseline self reported rate of "drinking less" is at any given time. I imagine there is seasonal variation.
Sounds like 17.3% are traitorous dogs
I haven't changed my habits. Since I've not had big label beer much to begin with, and American mass-produced beer tastes like shit anyway. I haven't had American craft beer only because I'm not over there to get it.
There are smalk towns that often don't have any alternatives than the big American brands.
But that demographic can't make up 47% of consumers, surely.
They have Molson and Kokanee
That's what I love about having the state run alcohol stores in Sweden. The fascist-"conservatives" complain about it to no end, but it means no matter what remote bush you live in, you have access to the same range of alcohol as city folks. And if your local store don't have it in stock, they'll order it for you at no additional fee. Now that home delivery is more of a thing it's even easier.
Let's just hope the right isn't able to destroy it in the name of "choice and freedom (freedom to exploit)" before we manage to get social democrats back in power.
Especially when we have a lot of good booze locally made already. No matter your style. Whisky, wine, beer, coolers, we have very good stuff in all categories.
Surely Canada lacks the climate for growing good wine grapes?
