White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that President Donald Trump is exploring legal pathways to “deport” U.S. citizens to El Salvador, where the administration has already arranged to house deported immigrants in a prison known for its human rights abuses.

  Well, they didn't say that. They did say we need to kill tyrants, but the second amendment is not part of that. It's about defending the state, as militias were the standard military of the time, not standing professional armies like it is now.

- TBH its not very obvious. Immigration officials around the world probably still view the US as a democracy. If an American were to apply for political asylum in, say, the EU, for example, it would likely get rejected.
  We need something very concrete, like if 2026 elections get cancelled or martial law declared, then they would actually take asylum applications seriously.
  
  Maybe for trans people they would get asylum, since many countries have issued travel warnings to trans people from outside the US about traveling to the US.

  That doesn't sound like like a 9/9 slam dunk shutdown. It's a 5/4 vote to remind the administration they need some fig leaf of due process. The article goes over all the ways that this isn't really a check on the unconstitutional deportations.

Easy deport them to US
- Deported to a prison (aka: a forced-labor concentration-camp)

- Because once outside the US, the Republican position is that they no longer have recourse to the courts. So you can hustle somebody to El Salvador really fast, and then there is nothing they can do about it.
  Whereas if you put people through the usual trial process and keep them in a US prison, they can later be freed as innocent.
  
  So basically, point at person you don't like (like minorities) and say "You did a crime! To El Salvador with you!" and they're gone forever regardless of innocence. Great times.
