Oh Baku deleted?? It’s sad to see that. Top young bloke who didn’t deserve the cards he was dealt but continues to play them bravely.
I wish I could have been more supportive, I’m not too good at it and don’t have a lot of bandwidth left in my own struggles. All I could do was advise in dealing with rough co-tenants.
I hope he comes back or at least that he manages and life gets better for him.

Landlord has suddenly withdrawn any option of negotiation - her accountant has apparently told her she "has" to up her rent to match market rates.

110/week extra. 21% increase. 550/week. This system is just not bearable any more. I'm going to seek advice... at least as to whether market rates include typical real estate agent fees or not

Oh biggest hugs. That is absolutely so wrong. Near me there's a whole strip of shops that's now half empty because it's worth more to the landlords borrowing potential to have it on paper as "rental return potential is $x" even if that means it stands empty.

- It does appear that market rates are somewhat similar to what's being proposed (though idk if they take into account age of property etc - huge variation in this suburb)
  Key difference is there is no REA fee in my case, so I'm contacting Tenants Vic tomorrow on advice regarding whether that's included when benchmarking rent increases. Because if the 550 benchmark includes REA fees of say 10%, I should only be paying 500/week
  It looks like challenging a rent increase is free so I might just do it anyway. LL has taken the nuclear option so I might as well do the same

- As a single person with no chance of an inheritance and no family support in Vic, and who probably can't ever maintain a 5-day full time job for more than a few months at a stretch without burning out, I'm seriously wondering if I can afford to exist beyond being a financial conduit from my employer to the landlord
  Not saving that much moving to the outermost suburbs as there's less stock for singles and a jump in commuting costs and time. The only real future I have is to move interstate to live with family
We were notified our rent was going up $100/week. We requested it only go up by $75, and the landlord accepted. Small wins!
We're paying well above $550 though. That's a 1-bedroom apartment in my suburb. Even though we were paying that for a 4 bedroom house 18 months ago.
- Insane. This is why the only way I can envisage catching my breath is to stay with family for a while... It's absolutely unmanageable on one income let alone part time.

I had a dream that "we" (random people) were being hunted by a deep sea creature that would swallow people whole from below.
Then we figured out that it had been listening to Mariah Carey and "All I want for Christmas is you" had made it fall in love with people but it had interpreted it as literally needing to eat them to show its love. So then we were trying to escape while trying to brainstorm songs to play to convince the sea monster it could show its love by just waving from afar or something.
Woke up in a sweat but also WTF?? I can't even blame a cat..... :-/

I'm now annoyed that your torch button says "Torch". I've always been mildly annoyed that mine says "Flashlight". At least Google noticed that millions of people obviously had "Lumos" shortcuts and just baked that into default Assistant.
I'm going to devote braincells to getting my button to say "Torch" now I just know it.

Not sure on stockists but Ziera shoes are expensive but very foot friendly - there should be stockists in the city. Some of their styles are a bit grandma-y but they usually have good mary-janes. I'm in pretty dire need of a new pair myself.

Some 1930s Vittorio De Sica as actor movies. Amazon. These are charming rom coms. Can recommend. :)

La Terra Trema. Amazon. Saddest movie about hopelessness I've ever seen.

Mini at home Sam Rockwell Festival. Makes acting look easy. The movies are not always fun but always good.

A Bridge Too Far with commentary. I can really recommend this. I'd seen it a few times already but the commentary gave me wider understanding of the movie's place in recording WWII, about indie productions and how much work it is.

( side note, i see the failed military operation as a practice for d day, they were able to see where the needed to improve operations )

It's been a heck of an unproductive day. Been trying to make myself do paperwork things, and none of that is getting done with any sort of functional progress at all. It is a little frustrating in its own way, since it's something that I've been struggling with for ages with, but also can't seem to be able to get any help with at all, which makes it particularly bothersome, since it does feel like being stuck in the gap between being able to get help because you're obviously and clearly struggling, or not need help at all.

Anyone got a tip to try and help with things, or at least, a pet to try and distract myself with?
