The Youtube comments on Rich Men North of Richmond are just as bad as you'd expect
If "false consciousness" was in the dictionary, this would be the example image

I don't need or want any hand outs
WHY THE FUCK NOT?! What's wrong with you?
Because it's a sin.
That's literally it. They equate it with sin. The sin of sloth. Not that they think in those terms (filthy Protestant heretics, the lot of them) but it's taboo because they think of it as stealing, because they don't see the whole picture, because it's been deliberately obscured from them their entire lives. If they were to understand just how much was being stolen from them every time they go to work, they'd know who to direct their anger at.
Being poor, needing welfare etc. has been characterized as a moral failing, so people think this way.
"Why would I need welfare? I am NOT lazy, I am a GOOD person."
it actually makes me kind of sad
how do you become so dead that you reject the basic human urge to help other people, to let people help you?
It'll only lead to a sad, lonely life.

Individualism has made people think that it's part of human nature to not help eachother but rather only yourself. It's depressing how cynical my society has become.
Right? I've been on disability for a decade. I will take literally whatever anyone offers me. Like, someone tells me "hey, you ever need anything, let me know" to be nice or whatever; well, they're getting hit up, cuz I need shit.
It's hard not to fail when you keep being systematically murdered by the state using the wealth of imperial exploitation
The american left are too busy being class reductionist, patsoc, and whitewashing pieces of crap to be of any use.
Its going to be a long road to revival.
I am xx years old and I do [insert shitty job here] and I very much enjoy this song
