that's cool i'm glad i got a monkeypox vaccine like 2 years ago when it was first a concern among gay men so i don't have to wait for the inevitable slow rollout in the US. don't tell me it is a new strain and disrupt my serene state of mind thanks!!!
There's a nee strain of the more virulent version although not sure if that would render the vaccine less effective.
The mpox vaccine was actually the smallpox vaccine so I'm not sure how relevant strains are in general
I'd recommend this thread. It's from a senior vaccine researcher who developed the COVID vaccine and posts regularly about the science behind vaccines.
TL;DR the existing human smallpox vaccine (that we both got) is at minimum 86% effective against mpox.
Ah yeah....most people born after 1980 didn't get that...
I got the first series of the vaccine, and it fucking hurt and sucked. So, I didn't get the second. o.O
