Then this morning, Scavengers Reign landed an Emmy nomination in the very competitive, high-profile category of Outstanding Animated Program.
Outstanding Animated Program
Blue Eye Samurai
Scavengers Reign
The Simpsons
X-Men ’97
I think this is Scavengers Reign's award to lose. Also who is nominating The Simpsons? Does it actually deserve this spot? Somebody who watched it let us know lol.
Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance
Hank Azaria (Moe Szyslak) The Simpsons
Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin) Family Guy
Sterling K. Brown (Angstrom Levy/Angstrom #646) Invincible
Maya Rudolph (Connie the Hormone Monstress) Big Mouth
Hannah Waddingham (Deliria) Krapopolis
Out of this list I think Sterling K. Brown deserves it most. Although I'm sad Lenore Zann wasn't nominated.
Scavenger's Reign is a breath of fresh air, not just as an animated series, but in general as a completely new idea executed brilliantly. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It can be very disturbing with body and existential horror, but it is absolutely excellent.
It's not a 3 act plot story, or even truly have a point per se, at least not that I could fathom. I think of it more as art that you interpret through your own lens.
Scavengers Reign was such a refreshing breathe of something different in a genre that has felt like it's been chasing ideas instead of leading. I really hope Season 2 materializes, even if it goes to another service.
This show looked interesting, so I started watching it. After the first episode, I was confused and frustrated. But, I really wanted to like it, so I watched the second episode. And the third. I should like this. I love Sci Fi. I love complex stories, there's a plot here somewhere, I can feel it! After the third episode, I gave up. Nothing made sense. I watched Blue Eye Samurai again, I enjoyed that despite it's flaws. I wanted to like this show, I really did. I just.... I'm missing something, but for the life of me I can't figure out what.
I'm glad you all enjoyed the show. Be glad I don't get a vote.
Generally the way the Emmy's work is that producers will submit a single episode for consideration. For Angstrom they submitted the last episode of the season where he's prominent throughout.
