1.5 years and going strong.

2019 was a shit year for me, I got mycoplasma just before going abroad on a work trip, I thought it was just a cold, and remember thinking in the taxi that it was going to be a shit week having a cold the entire trip.

Well, it was worse than that, much worse, I could hardly work at all, and nothing I did made me better.

The only relief I got was taking a shower and cough up phlegm sonthst I could sleep, only the hotel reception called me sbout flooding the floor I was on (this was a fancy hotel), and when a technician came up to look at it he half accused me of "splashing and deliberately using the shower outside the bathtub", something I never did, so I got terrified that I would loose my job because of that since I had used my company credit card (as I should).

But i got a few hours if sleep, and decided I needed to get into a shower again, so I did, and was very careful, but the reception rang again, and sent out a new technician, this guy was way better and actually took a look under the bathtub and found out that the sealing agaibst the wall was fucked, I have never felt such instant relief, it wasn't my fault!

I got a new fancier room for the last night, and the flew home.

A week later I was diagnosed with pneumonia in one lung, and got penicillin, the pills were too big so I could not swallow them, I tried to dissolve them in water to drink them, but the taste allmost made me throw up, so it took about an hour to slowly drink the penicillin every time.

I didn't get better and got to hospital, I was admitted and stayed for two nights, I got penicillin striaght in to the blood ans well as drip and finally started getting better.

When I was discharged I got stronger penicillin pills that dissolved easier and didn't taste revolting.

All in all I was out sick for 1,5 months.

Then in 2022, that year sucked as well, got double heel spurs, flat feet and a bad knee.

It took me a year of painkillers and walking home crying from the bus every day to get it sorted, new inlays and excellent Brooks shoes to get it sorted

A guy I made friends with a little under a year ago who recently died. One of the best friends I've made in the last 20 years. I still catch myself wanting to text him. Grief fucking sucks.

Lost my mom over a year ago. When something good or bad happens, i still reach for my phone to call her. I don't know when that ends. I kinda hope never.
- "I don't know when that ends". I remember this feeling when I lost my own mother 15 years ago. A friend told me "It's not really about getting over it, but getting through it." It stuck with me - I hope it may help to hear.

Got severe food poisoning and ended up in the ER after eating a tainted wrap from a deli

This was the second time

Got a pretty bad case of food poisoning last month. Didn't really eat anything for a couple of days.

My SO had it worse. She was throwing up almost everything she ate for over a week. After about 4-5 days, I was like. I'll drive you to the emergency myself, but I can't force you to go.

She ended up waiting like three more days after that and calling her primary care physician.

She's mostly better now but it was the worst I've ever seen her.

For better or worse, she did lose a decent amount of weight during that week+ of being sick.

My second bout with Covid. Wasn't nearly as bad as the first time. All I did was watch Legend of Korra and Fargo season 5. All good now though.

Glad you bounced back. Fargo S5 was my favorite story since S1. John Hamm was fantastic.
- I really liked the immortal dude. Sam Spruell stole the show. I did have an issue with the Halloween episode though. Like Dot went through all the trouble of changing the street signs, but she couldn't wear a mask on Halloween? Classic smart character does something stupid so the plot can happen.

So they put me on hydromorphone:

Do not let anyone find out you have dilaudid, your probably taking the pills, but injected it is one of the most sought after drugs
- I didn't know that. I got two doses of Dilaudid when I had a bad response to an iron infusion, and I was still in so much pain that the clinic sent me to the ER.
- Oh yeah, it was the IV version in the ER, pills at home.

I'm still bouncing. I hope.

What from, if I may ask?

Me, I've been on a multi-year roller coaster (more like haunted house ride, really, with the rattling and the spooks and the lack of upwards motion...) involving asking for help in what turned out to be the wrong place, causing me to lose my job, kids, spouse, dream house, future dreams, sanity, and damn near my life.

Still, I'm still here, still hoping for things to get better. You know, eventually.
