Rafah death toll surges as Israel rains down white phosphorus [May 8, 2024 | The Cradle]
  • edit: word

I do not think that is a healthy way of looking at the world.

The working class are just pawns in these never ending wars we somehow keep finding ourselves in.

This is all [due] to the owner class pushing for more profits and more infighting within the working class.

The real war should be the class war!

  • Corporate media's complicity in Gaza genocide: with Max Blumenthal [48:42 | May 07 24 | Jedaal English]

    >Since October 7th, the corporate media has done its best to mask Israel's genocide. These stories have not been innocent mistakes or, at best, biased reporting on past events. They have been powerful weapons in the hands of the Israeli army, strategically used in critical moments as complements to military moves. Few independent journalists have tried to debunk these stories and unmask this genocidal war for what it is. The Grayzone is one such organization, and Max Blumenthal is one of the examples of such journalists.

Florence + The Machine - Dog Days Are Over (2010 Version) (Official Music Video) [3:39 | Art Pop, Alternative Rock, Chamber Pop]
  • Wow!

Thanks for sharing about the cover!

I just added it to 'post to lemmy later in the near future' folder, hahahaha

    Another random but interesting? info:

This cover of the Ben E. King classic serves as the main theme of the RPG video game Final Fantasy XV.

In the announcement trailer, Florence described “Stand By Me” as “one of the greatest songs of all time”; explaining that it was impossible to ‘improve’ upon, so “you just have to do your own!”.

From the plot of FFXV, the song can be interpreted from the perspective of the protagonist and only playable character, Noctis Lucis Caelum. “Stand By Me” is Noctis’s way of expressing the feelings of gratitude in his heart that he can’t say straight out. source

The classic Final Fantasy prelude is integrated in the song’s intro and first verse.

  • Why are you trying to convince me to vote for Trump...

Or at least that is how I am seeing it...

I do understand that in the US we can vote for anyone and be proud, while also sitting out of the election, can be seen as a proud act as well!

I hope this view has helped you understand that many do not see Trump/Biden the same way you do!

We must contiue to question and be highly critical of those in power, especially those in gov't that have much money/influence!

  • Careful mate... That foreignor wants your memes!
  • Too many topics we can talk about...

...but meme can be taken as, people with power/influence use their influence/power to create propaganda so as to keep the working class fighting each other.

Mass immigration is caused by wars/famine/gov'ts, which in turn keeps working class fighting the foreignors instead of the people that caused it.

It goes back to the people in power seeing humans<profit

Any thoughts on any of this?

  • Rupert Murdoch

I would wager the duopoly as a whole has done much more than just one person, we can even go further...

Looking at the handful, which is made up of and by the owner class, that control our media and policy as a nation; legalized bribery which is just lobbying and much more!

But careful going down rabbit holes, hahaha

The abyss tends to look back.... but just punch it in the face?

“You look into the abyss and the abyss looks back,” I said, shrugging. “Then you punch the abyss in the face.”

    — Larry Correia

  • Careful mate... That foreignor wants your memes!
  • I would highly encourage you to talk to and learn from people that do not think or agree with your views!

We must remember that being human include trying to be empathetic that those we do not like or agree with as well!

I hope we continue to grow and learn as we head to the future!

  • [Explicit] MACKLEMORE - HIND'S HALL [2:48 | Rap, Conscious Hip-Hop, Protest Songs, Politics]
  • I am for 3rd party, I was voting for duopoly in the past though, Bernie Sanders era and all that...

Winning or taking a loss, duopoly still fcks the working class.

Sorry to say but fascism has been here for a while, let us continue to pay closer attention to what goes around in our communities!

I hope you one day come to a different conclusion than just keeping people in the duopoly.

Let us continue to talk to people we do not agree with or think like, we can all learn fro them and teach them!

Thank you for sharing your views though!

  • Florence + The Machine - Dog Days Are Over (2010 Version) (Official Music Video) [3:39 | Art Pop, Alternative Rock, Chamber Pop]
  • “Dog Days Are Over” is a single off of Lungs, and is considered the band’s first big hit in both the US and the UK.

This harp-based track is about suddenly finding happiness, and disbelieving that it’s actually there.

According to one interview, the song title comes from an art piece by Ugo Rondinone.

The song was released as the album second single in 2008 with “You’ve Got The Love” as its B-Side. However, after the album’s success after its release in 2009, the band re-released the song as single in 2010. This time, the B-Side of single was a remix of “Dog Days Are Over”.

Here’s the 2008 original single cover of Dog Days Are Over:

  • The Ghetto - Too Short [5:02 | G-Funk, Rap]
  • “The Ghetto” is a 1990 single by Oakland rapper Too Short from his album Short Dog’s in the House. The song was featured on the fictional radio station Radio Los Santos in the videogame Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The instrumental was based on the Donny Hathaway song of the same name. The song discusses the struggles of living in the ghetto and the difficulty of getting out of the ghetto to live a more successful life. It also discusses issues such as drug abuse and racial pride. Too Short is mostly known for his raps relating to sex and women, however he did have some songs with a deeper message and serious economic and social commentary. “The Ghetto” being an example of this.

  • Nas - Life's A Bitch (Live at #VEVOSXSW 2012) ft. AZ [3:07 | Boom Bap, Rap]
  • Life’s a bitch and then you die

Can’t say it much better than that. Nas and AZ get existential and reflect on their lives and life in general.

As well as being AZ’s debut on wax, this song is notable for the trumpet solo at the end, performed by Nas’s father, Olu Dara.

Nas wanted to sample Mtume’s “Juicy Fruit” but producer L.E.S. brought The Gap Band’s “Yearning For Your Love” instead, which was fortunate since The Notorious B.I.G. would use the Mtume sample on his single “Juicy” released the same year.

L.E.S. provided some background information about the track in an interview with XXL:

AZ was there. Nas was like, ‘A, you got something for this?’ A just went in the booth and spit it, and Nas came right behind him. AZ had a chorus. They vibed, and before I even blinked, I left the studio, went back to the projects, and niggas was like, ‘We love that Nas joint.’ I was like, ‘Damn. Word? How they get that?’

    AZ added:

After the hook was there, they was like, ‘Damn, you gotta spit, dawg.’ I was like, ‘Aight, fuck it. If you like it, you like it. You don’t, you don’t.’ I did it, and everybody liked it. That was it. It was history made.
