> Today, one day after Microsoft announced that it would shut down four of its games studios, Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, held a town hall to discuss the division’s future goals. “We need smaller games that give us prestige and awards,” Booty told employees, according to internal remarks shared with The Verge. > > For some listeners on the call, it was a surprising goal: Microsoft had just shut down the Japanese developer Tango Gameworks, which was coming off the small, prestigious hit title Hi-Fi Rush. > > Hi-Fi Rush, which was a surprise release last year, was praised for its innovation and charm. The rhythm action game featured music by The Black Keys and Nine Inch Nails, with an art style that evoked the hyper-stylized games of the PS2 era. Just four months after its release, Hi-Fi Rush hit 3 million players. During the 2023–2024 awards season, the game went on to win a Game Award, a Game Developers Choice award, and a BAFTA.
Xbox hasn’t had something as vibrant as Tango Gameworks’ rhythm action game in a long time
A new report shows that half of LGBTQ youth who want mental health help can't get it.
I can see why Arkane Austin was shut down after Redfall failed, but I do not get why they'd shut down Tango Gameworks after the success of "Hi-Fi Rush" and being MS' only Japanese studio.
Well, this sure is a terrible time for the gaming industry isn't it. Now it's Microsoft turn again to close multiple studios.

House Bill 257, "Sex-Based Designations for Privacy, Anti-Bullying, and Women’s Opportunities," requires the state to investigate reports of people and institutions violating the "bathroom bill" law, but they left the submissions database wide open.
The move is the latest in a series of states that have tried to launch ways to report transgender issues to authorities; such attempts in other states have not been successful.

It may sound silly to some, but "Guilty Gear Strive" - i.e. Bridget - was very important to me. Once I realized that I was envious of a character from a game who could have something that I had not (a transition), it was the final crack in the egg. If I wanted to have what Bridget had, I had to pursue it IRL and I do since then.

Yeah, the "landed gentry" of the mods and the courageous admins fighting to freedom against their oppression.
Yeah, trans people in the UK are in horrible danger.
In regards to Hillary Cass I am not even sure how much of this is actual regret and how much is her trying to save her reputation in regards to her scientific credentials. It may be politically opportune to write a report full of bigoted pseudo-science that slanders the academic community who does actual science, but it comes at a price.
The benefit of use high-end cameras (like those from Arri) is that they usually have a higher range for ISO (light sensitivity) and aperture, which makes it easier to shoot without setting up lighting for every specific shot. Most people know this from smartphone cameras: Cheap ones struggle in low-light settings while better ones will still be able to produce decent pictures.
The original article that went with the picture spoke of "a new race of amazons" and calls the woman on the right, "Diana", which may be a reference to Wonder Woman (AKA Diana, Princess of the Amazons).
Oh yeah,... Now we get Seti@Home but shitty instead.
But you shouldn’t retcon established lore (even if it is problematic) with a tweet.
That is not what happened: The change was already in the last edition of the codex from last year. Per the article...
But the most recent 10th-edition codex includes a point-of-view piece of lore from Calladayce Taurovalia Kesh, who uses she/her pronouns.
The tweet only highlighted a change that had already been made.
I don't want to contradict you, but...

That codex was already published last summer. So it has already been lore for a while now, even though the misogynerds only took notice when GW tweeted about it.
It is the internal voice of the female-presenting person in the far left corner of the first picture. All of the text is essentially the internal monologue of the comic's creator, MilkyTrickster. He retells his struggles with his looks, until the moment he realized that he doesn't need to pass as a man in order to accept his own trans identity.
One of the keys to strategic success is picking your battles. When you have the chance to choose the enemy you'll face, don't let fate decide for you. At the end of the day, you are going to fight, so pick the fight with the enemy you think you have a better chance of defeating. Take this whichever way you want.
Of course, everybody responds differently to such things. For me... (spoilered for those who still want to play it)
description of gameplay
the moment when you step though one of doors at the end and the game uses the related pronouns was a very powerful one. I did not even dare to step through the "right one" the first time I played the game and was very emotional when I did during a later playthrough.
But ultimately everyone has to find their own way to figures themselves out. So I will keep my fingers crossed that you will find yours.
If you are in the mood for another game and have half an hour of time, I recommend checking out "What's your gender?". It's a short experience that made a big difference for me.
Yeah, Majestic was incredibly interesting because it was an attempt to create an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that was more than just a marketing campaign and could support itself financially. Its failure led to ARGs being abandoned as standalone games and ARGs mostly remained marketing which - ultimately - led to a slow, but inevitable decline of the ARG as a genre when the marketing money dried up.
