I don't know about you but I find these bot posts actually useful! And there's healthy discussion too which is the point of lemmy?
Youtube is past the growth phase, at this point it's about minimising cost and maximising revenue.
If you regularly use it with adblock but decide to stop using it because of this, then youtube would have succeeded. You weren't making them money and were costing them bandwidth, so good riddance.
If you really want to stick it to them, turn on adblock, find some long videos and play them on mute in the background at 4K/1080p60 resolution. Cost them even more bandwidth.
Even better, start randomly disliking videos or making nonsensical comments (not hateful or toxic ones, just comments that don't make sense). Enshittify it further.
Have you or your parents never used a phone book to look up businesses and ended up calling A1 Plumbing, AAA locksmith, etc?
Interesting... I switched away from Samsung and actually hated stock Android!
- I actually preferred One UI to the standard pixel, mainly because Google ruined the quick settings - they made each button unnecessarily big, and turning on/off the wifi requires two taps instead of one now (Internet > Wifi). That's something I can't change without rooting.
- Some Samsung stock apps are actually a great alternative to the android ones (I use Samsung Notes a ton). The only downside is they force you to download it through their own app store.
- Samsung doesn't really have much bloat now, and the few pieces of bloat i found could be uninstalled
- Samsung is still the only phone manufacturer with triple camera setups in a small flagship phone
Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect, but the issues I had with Samsung were solvable (e.g. uninstalling bloat is a one-time thing) while the annoyances I've had with a Pixel aren't solvable (quick settings, no third camera).

So basically, bosses can't deal with the fact that they can't step out of their room and yell at people, and therefore still want to inconvenience everyone.

TBH I truly think it was a boomer invention that died in the 80s, because nobody I know ever did anything like this willingly.
That was for a different time and era when company loyalty was a thing. When you intended to work for a company for decades, forming relationships with your boss actually meant something.
Nowadays employees are just disposable assets, so why bother forming deep bonds with your coworkers?

I think everyone is agreed that the site is a cesspool that deserves to die. The issue is that getting ISPs to voluntarily block sites based on advocacy is bad. As the provider of a "digital human right", ISPs should NOT get to decide who gets their service and who doesn't.
The EFF isn't supporting hate groups. What they're saying is that an ISP block is a dangerous precedent.

This is why we need to raise awareness of strike. Help them amplify their voices and generate the negative publicity that the studios are desperately trying to avoid!

Thanks for subscribing to /c/workreform@lemmy.world ! Now that we've grown (and are growing) so quickly, I've had some calls to discuss what this community is for!
What we stand for
As the sidebar says, Work Reform aims to increase the share of rewards reaped by the workers (as opposed to capitalists - be it shareholders or owners), and make work more equitable. We do NOT aim to abolish labor altogether - I personally don’t think that’s a viable societal system. There is no known system in human history where majority of the population can subsist without doing anything in return.
What we need to do
I see a few things necessary to reform the current economic system - let’s call it Awareness, Advocacy and Action:
- Awareness means getting people to realise that the corporate propaganda they’re hearing isn’t the whole truth.
- Advocacy means going out and telling people to join the cause, form a local union, etc.
- Action means taking organized action - writing to politicians, organising dialogues and strikes, etc.
What this space can be used for
In short, all of the above!
- To raise Awareness, you can post anything that talks about the issue of wage disparity. That means venting about scummy practices, that means posting news that counters corporate propaganda, and that means posting memes and screenshots of relevant tweets.
- To engage in Advocacy, you can post news about organised action taking place elsewhere that we can celebrate or contribute to.
- To take Action, you can start a local chapter of your union, organize/engage in online campaigns, etc. This space can be used to help gather people for that purpose.
I personally think the most important thing now is to get more people to rally behind the cause (which means Action and Advocacy). But some of you have really good ideas on taking Action. So feel free to use this space for that purpose.
As it grows, we can discuss how best to use this community as well, so the rules may evolve over time.

Why YSK: DON'T bring it somewhere to 'save' it unless it's in immediate danger - you're probably just kidnapping it from its mom. People find baby deer or rabbits with no parents nearby and think they're abandoned, so they bring them to shelters to try to "save them". In reality they're just forcibly separating the animal from its mother and greatly reducing its survival chances.
Infant rabbits without their mothers don't do well. Even in professional care settings, they have about a 90% mortality rate. Taking them away from the nest should be a last resort, only when death is guaranteed otherwise.

Why YSK: It helps when calculating percentages. If you want to find out what 2% of 20 is, do 20% of 2 instead and you'll get 0.4. So, 2% of 20 also equals 0.4.
