Teslas Can Still Be Stolen With a Cheap Radio Hack—Despite New Keyless Tech
  • Where I am from It is very common that people break in and only steal the loose valuables inside the car. Not the car itself. If you don't even have to crack a window i would imagine it is very enticing to do so and specialize in Teslas.. with that said, I can't magine Teslas are more prone to this and other brands. What makes Teslas a bigger target is that their fleet is large and use very similar components and tech. If you hack one, you can hack into alot of them.

Apple Patent Hints At Foldable iPhone With Self-healing Screen
  • I don't know. I know some older midrange phones tried it out. I wonder if the main benefit is to heal the crease from the screen being unfolded or if it is to protection the softer screen surface. I hope it solves the former issue.

  • True, of course they have and shit happens. I guess I just felt justified after being told/implied Teslas issues are cosmetic only these are issues that again we're implied to be "solved". And then hit by, Tesla have THE safest car on the road, therefore.. again implied.. they never had any issues regarding the safety of the cars.

The steering wheel is insane, was it a one-off?

Thanks for your posts, nice to get some perspective on things 👍

  • Seatbelt completely detaching reported by, so far, 12 Tesla customers while using their car

Volvo: "The front seat belt fastening cable may over time suffer from reduced strength under certain circumstances." (Not failing completely i assume)

Very interesting how different companies handle recalls of similar issues. One seems to take responsibility and ownership of the situation.

Tesla claim to be the safest car, yet they let this slip.

Made a comment in jest/maybe bad taste like a week ago in the tesla community to the effect of "would be very on-brand for Tesla to have issues with the seatbelts. Got downvoted to hell and explained to me how tesla issues are only regarding fit and finish and they are THE safest car brand on the road today. Today I see this article...

    2nd hand ThinkPad go brrrrr
  • Thank you for the nice write-up. I agree that it is great and whatis very impressive. Also to see old hardware not going to a landfill. I have definitely "fixed" up friend and elderlies computers by installing Ubuntu, and more lately I tried fedora silver blue for a friend. And I too have second hand ThinkPads, a P53 6 core, 64gb, rtx3000 and a t440 and then my work machine is a xps13 (not secondhand). It runs great on all of these and linux is a real workhorse.

I think my point of view come from windows "techies" that seem to be completely oblivious to Linux outside of running it on a Raspberry pi or the like, and linux is only as a way to "save" a computer because windows can't run on it anymore. To me, Linux is a first choice for server, workstations, home use, gaming.. really anything, but I might be biased.. like most of us in this forum 😅😉

  • 2nd hand ThinkPad go brrrrr
  • I can recommend running it on new hardware. I love that it runs great on old hardware, but it is a bit of a disservice to Linux distros that people always experience it on raspberry pies and other old laptops or otherwise relatively slow hardware.

Linux on a brand new hardware is insanely good.

    Edit: software => hardware

  • Are you prepared for the ramifications of windows 10 EoL?
  • I do it already at work! Windows runs great in qemu.

There is a few things that we still need to move away from, app wise, that requires windows. But already I solve 95% of my work tasks in Linux. We will soon move all terminal computers in our production lines to Foss software and new stations run Ubuntu. Linux runs lighter and cheaper and easier to maintain and update and replace. We are super happy about it.

Best thing is, it will only get better!

  • [Threads] Musk demanding a $53 billion payout would be the equivalent of
  • Isn't this bonus based on the stocks performance? I agree that it is incredibly stupid. But if the contract checks out they should honour it. Tesla would probably not exist in its current form if it wasn't for Elon Musk.

  • The case for Tesla without Musk
  • Agreed. But the amount of power his word holds is kind of incredible. TSLA stock went from red to double digit black when he said there will be a cheaper model in early 2025. What do you think will happen to your investment if they 'loose' their charismatic leader? I believe Tesla is a strong enough brand to be standing on its own but the stock will take a hit short term.

  • Could Tesla Go Bankrupt? The Odds Are Rising
  • Oh. Thanks for the information, I read up about it after your post and it checks out. I will have to confess that most of my information come definitely from a fanboy at work, he told me they where something like 50% more efficient and producing cars than the rest of the industry. Although I never understood that number came from or what he measured against I also never questioned it. I just assumed the truth was somewhere between probably having a few cleaver logistical/production solutions and being just an average car producer.

  • Could Tesla Go Bankrupt? The Odds Are Rising
  • Yes, i mean I can only look to myself as a consumer. Tesla ticks alot of boxes, and the lower the prices get the better it gets. They are still competitive and I consider them. But I see what the others are doing and what trim levels you get from the competition. Now I can get my leather seats and foldable towbar and sounds systems and massage seats and all the other goodies I am used to in my vehicle. In the end Tesla can't solve everything with a OTA updates, and selfdriving is cool, but there are other options I want in my car that is not all about software. I feel they put all the eggs in one basket.

We will see when I am looking for my next car in about two years time! It will be very interesting, and I am not complaining about more options.

  • Could Tesla Go Bankrupt? The Odds Are Rising
  • Interesting read. I did not realise that they need 100B usd to cover the next 4 years. They burn cash very fast. Their vertical integration factories can bite back very hard if they can't keep up demand. So much for Tesla schooling The rest of the industry on how to build cars.. maybe the old dogs do know something after all..

I hope it goes well and they figure something out, oustin Mr Musk from the company seems like the best short term decision to save the company long term and definitely not paying the 55b usd bonus, that sounds more and more like an exit strategy for Mr Musk.

They have a strong brand, and had a strong lineup just a few years ago.. I think they can figure it out. They will wipe out many peoples 401ks if they go bankrupt, that will be ugly for everyone involved, and 140 000 people will loose their jobs
