Yes. Hence the rest of my comment. I should've probably put a "/s" at the end. :)
We could have markets run the hospitals but heaven forbid people would consent to their economic interactions.
"Hello! My mother is clutching her chest. She may be having a heart attack. Could you please email me an estimate for the treatment? I'm talking to two other car dealers, and I've read all the posts about the 4 square method online, I'm on to your tricks."
You do need some checks and balances because what's to stop a hospital from profiting off the insurance companies by asking for a CT scan/whatever of every single patient just because they can.
I suppose we could have the government run the hospitals too. But noooooo, that's never going to work out because communism or something.
Maybe we should try effective altruism and accelerationism instead? Let's just hand over all our money to a few tech bros and then we can go beg them to pay for the scans. And if they don't pay for it, surely someone will come up with a cheaper technology to do the same. Yes, that'll definitely work.
I'm new here, and I've been calling it "go-dot". What's the correct pronunciation?
Nope, there's no screw or anything mechanical holding it in place.
Thank you for the advice.
Hey, apologies if I'm not using the correct terms, I'm going to do my best to describe the issue.
This is a photo from my shower. There's a glass "wall" and a glass door. The door is connected to the glass wall by a hinge. The glass wall was glued to a metallic frame but it looks like the glue is not holding it in place anymore.
Is it a DIY job for a new homeowner after the millionth thing broke down this month and is ready to step into traffic? Or should I just hire someone? What profession am I even looking for to get it fixed?
If it's an easy enough fix, what keywords do I use to look up a fix and the materials needed?
Any other useful information or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
Update: thank you all for the comments. I don't think I have the skills to do this project by myself and don't want to risk glass all over the bathroom floor. I've contacted some people who fix windows and stuff, and they've agreed to this work at a reasonable price.
Bro, which company expected you to do a take home assignment that took 2.5 months? Name and shame the fuckers.
Solar, wind, and nuclear energy: are we a joke to you?
I had to get a new battery for my OP6T after using it for over 5 years - exclusively charging it using the fast charger. I'm sure that I can get another 3 years out of this phone, at the very least.
The battery + replacement service fee was around 40 USD.
I don't expect much more from the battery TBH.
The ads come at different entry and exit points for every user.
They're not referring to the YouTube ads, but the "let's take a minute to talk about today's sponsor nordvpn that I used on my trip to Antarctica." This is a part of the video file itself, and it starts and ends at the same time for all users.
solely for being nazis
At what point do you think it's okay to punch a nazi?
I just checked out fWallet and it doesn't support importing random PDFs so that's a huge downside to me since a lot of events I attend only send a PDF with barcodes/QR codes.
Remember when realtors were allowed to self regulate?
How are China's stringent lockdowns explained in this conspiracy theory? Also, where do I sign up as a member?
Awesome, thanks!
Where does something like "use a DC motor to build a tiny little fan" stand, in terms of safety?
Thanks, fire safety concerns have definitely played a major role in why I haven't actually started building stuff. I'll keep this in mind.
What you said makes sense. To provide context for why I am/was looking for the exact opposite --
I have a long string of failed hobbies and junk accumulated from all the stuff I've bought for them. I carry a ton of guilt because of this.
I guess I'm too hesitant to buy parts and have them lying around if I don't end up using them all if I abandon this too. That's the reason why I was hoping to buy a fixed set of parts for specific projects so that way I can at least convince myself that I used it all at least once.
Thank you!
Background: I took some 100 and 200-level courses on electronics in college over a decade ago. I still remember some stuff (Ohm's law, Kirchoff's law), and I can recognise the basic parts in a circuit diagram.
I am also happy to pick up a beginner friendly text book and go through the theory by myself, if there are any recommendations.
However, I've never even held a soldering gun. I am a blank slate when it comes to any practical applications. I get overwhelmed trying to figure out what kit to order on Amazon.
So, is there a course/tutorial you'd recommend for learning the hands on parts of it? I'd prefer as much handholding as possible. Ex -- if someone sells all the components to finish the projects in the course that would be the course I pick.
People (including me) complain about monopolies all the time for various reasons. At the same time, I've noticed a ton of complaints about the existence of multiple streaming platforms. But isn't that a good thing at the end of the day? If streaming platforms consolidated into 2-3 companies, there wouldn't be much stopping them from raising prices even more.
I am currently logged into my account on lemmy.world. I'd like to view the home page of literature.cafe (or any other instance), view all the communities there etc.
I could just tap on the instance name, or even add instances that I wasn't signed in to on liftoff which no longer works.
Is there a way to do this on voyager?
