  • I like your answer more than what I was gonna type up :P

Up until a couple days ago, I was using uBO & PrivacyBadger in tandem. Maybe I'll back to that, as I sit closer to your viewpoint vs giving ads any revenue stream. It's kinda in the same realm as why I'd buy a game using CDKeys vs pirating/torrenting. It's a morally grey area that makes it somewhat redeemable, but the point still stands. In AdNauseum's case, you really can't tell what ads are clicked on and therefore don't know what any revenue stream is going in to which pockets you can inspect the ads it clicks on after the fact, but the money for said clicks still go somewhere, even if it's in the fraction of a fraction of a cent.

Heh, I may just switch back. Thanks?... Yeah, thanks!

  • I've just started using AdNauseum, which I think builds off of uBlock Origin, but also silently clicks and hides ads instead of just the latter. So far it seems to work pretty well, although I did have to set some sites to strict blocking.

  • Dunno if it's MP compatible yet, but the newly released Day One mod attempts to simulate the first day of the Knox Event. Tons of NPCs (using a new engine instead of the built in AI), bombs dropping, different factions, etc. Crazy experience thus far, and you'll probably die faster if you're not careful.

Still can't wait for build 42 tho.

The Tennessee Star Releases 'Manifesto' Left by Transgender Covenant School Killer Audrey Hale - Tennessee Star
  • What Aiden did was a heinous and horrible outcome, but I can't get over the deadnaming and pronoun misuse, regardless their actions and motivations. Not defending their actions, killing is bad m'kay? They had a lot of built up hatred, and combined with poor mental health, not surprising if it was instigated by the Convenant School whilst they attended. Overall, however, it looks like they were confused and broken.

  • I'd be curious to see if you can install the patch that reintroduces the E3 graphics and how that's handled on the Deck. Not sure on the how-to with SteamOS.

  • Can someone give me advice on vacuum cleaners?
  • It's not a full size vacuum, but I just picked up a Roomie Tec Stick Vacuum during Prime days for $45. I just looked on amazon.de, and there's only one Roomie Tec vacuum, not the same as above, but it's been good enough for a 500+sqft basement with a few throw rugs and 2 cats worth of fur.

  • What was the hardest part of schooling for you?
  • Right there with you. Suffered with fractions in 4th grade, did okay from there until trig in high school (sophomore year?), then failed hard in calc 1 over the course of 5 undergrad tries. Finally got it, but damn, my brain could not handle the theoretical stuff. Maybe methods have changed in 20+ years, but that shit sits with you.

  • How often do you feed your cat wet food compared to dry food?
  • 4 cats. We feed them all wet food (Friskies/Tastefuls) morning and night, and have an auto-feeder for 3 of them. The 4th has a kibble addiction so the auto-feeder has a RFID tag which locks upon him getting close, and we feed him ~1/4 cup dry food early afternoon.

  • Braid: Anniversary Edition "sold like dog s***", says creator Jonathan Blow
  • I never finished The Witness either, but I kinda wished I would have, as the philosophical nature and puzzles were both very engrossing, such a unique take on the "walking simulator" style of game. Granted, it was much more than that, and I'd actually compare it closer to Myst and Obduction than such. The puzzles were repetitive but just incentive enough to be engaging and twisted in just the right way, though they got devilishly difficult later on. Sucks about the motion sickness though. Wonder if there was an .ini swing which could've turned the filter off?

Though, all in all, this was definitely a difficult "separate the art from the artist" scenario.

  • Not sure how or if it's mess up current saves or not, but if you've not considered it yet, is would recommend trying it A Tale Of Two Wastelands. Merges FO3's Capital Wasteland with FNV's Mojave via train ride. Keeps all the mechanics as well.

  • Braid: Anniversary Edition "sold like dog s***", says creator Jonathan Blow
  • Braid was a solid game all its own, and a remaster certainly wasn't needed (yet or at all). The Witness was freaking phenomenal, and I hope there will be other iterations of games like it to come. Blow can go blow away though. He's an anti-vaxxer and Covid conspiracy theorist, and that is something I can write off as anyone worth acknowledging. Plenty of other amazing games in the sea.

This is what happens when one mod has patches for other mods... I'm looking at Jk's Skyrim. I think it makes up 100+ esps on its own with all the compatibility patches.

  • AM5 B650M USB dropouts on cold boot

EDIT 9/13/24: Forgot I never updated this. Unfortunately I ended up having the RMA the processor, which AMD promptly and smoothly replaced. I even got a spare Wraith cooler out of it :)

That said, ASRock never got back to be throughout any correspondence short of their forum moderator, who checked with the help desk but they said they couldn't find my ticket. 4 emails worth. Nary a response. Dropped ASRock going forward. I ended up with a similarly priced Gigabyte B650M board and haven't had an issue since. RAM clocked at full 6000MT/s, stability and performance on par with benchmarks, etc. Granted, I ended up spending ~$200 more than intended, but it could have all been resolved by a competent help desk team. Maybe a little bit harsh, but they had plenty of chances to find my correspondence. 2 emails and 2 tickets, with nothing to show for it. So there you have it. Bittersweet ending but at least I can play Cyberpunk 2077 with that sweet, sweet RT now.

Hey all, just recently treated myself to a new computer build after ~3 years, and I've been having nothing but trouble with USB dropouts. Had I done more research prior, I would have known about this issue that seems to have been prevalent since the AM4 days. Thing is, I've had great success with my prior build (AM4, Ryzen 7 3700x, 32GB 3600, RX 5700XT, Asrock Steel Legend mATX), so I wasn't thinking there'd be issue. Been nothing but frustration.

    Specs:

    • Asrock PG Riptide mATX Gigabyte AORUS B650M mATX mobo
    • Seasonic Focus GX Gold 80+ 750W
    • Ryzen 7 7700 AM5 (replaced via RMA)
    • G.Skill Trident Z 32GB DDR5 6000 (Samsung chips)
    • Asrock RX 7800XT 16GB
    • 500GB Inland Pro NVMe (OS) - 2TB Samsung NVMe - 1TB Crucial MX500 SATA - 1TB WD Blue HDD - 4TB WD Blue HDD
    • Windows 11 Pro
    • Thermaltake Core v21 Case

So to start it off, the USB dropouts have been... odd. They only seem to happen from a cold boot. It starts with a simple stutter where both my KB+M (wireless 2.4GHz) start lagging and stop any input, then pick back up. Then comes the audio stutter. Slowly but surely, within about 3-5 minutes, the whole system locks up. Upon having to hit the reset button on my case (as everything seizes up), everything works as if there's no issue whatsoever. Nothing in event viewer to coincide any Windows problems. Hell, I played Starfield for ~6 hours almost non-stop yesterday with nary an issue (although Akila City decided not to load in at once point).

The other thing I find rather strange is that I could not get my RAM to reach the XMP 6000 settings, but if I set it to that and then downclock to 5600, I'm stable. Standard frequency is 4800. This issue happens even at the baseline.

I've tried BIOS upgrades and downgrades, CMOS resets, tweaking the BIOS for the "known causes" of this bug (C-states, RAM timings, etc), and yet no change. I just hope this isn't coming down to an RMA of the board or whatnot. If there's anymore info I can provide, please ask.

EDIT: I can't say for sure, but moving my regular USB 2.0 devices to the USB 3 slots seem to have resolve it. I'm still wary.

EDIT 2: I unhooked all currently unneeded USB connections (including internal front USB3.0), with only my USB hub for BT and 2.4GHz dongles and my wired Xbox controller (2 ports total). I also read that one of the "solutions: back on Am4 for this bug was to turn down PCIe speeds from Auto or 4.0/5.0 to 3.0. I'm still being cautious, but right now I did a full shutdown, power cycled the PSU, and then rebooted afterward. Running RAM at 5400MHz.

EDIT 3: Changing the PCIe speeds did not change a thing. USB seized up without any input. Upon reboot I reset defaults to the BIOS, and then, a new thing happened! Seemed to hang upon retraining of the RAM. Shut down via rear power switch, and upon this reboot, Windows refused to launch anything, even Task Manager. Multiple reboots and another BIOS default later, and I'm back to functioning (at least this boot). I'm actively shopping for a new motherboard, though choices are limited. I also can't return this mobo as it's my 2nd from Micro Center, with the first Riptide having bent pins.

Recommendations on replacements welcome. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
