This is true, which is why people should stop telling others not to point out how ineffectual Democrats are. If the left gave them a Sanders-like platform, which lays the blame for most of our problems at the feet of rich people, we could tap into that anger and use it to get some shit done. The strategy for the last 20 years has been to tell voters that everything is fine. That doesn't work when they're telling you "no it fucking isn't".

Why do I immediately assume that dude from South Carolina has already announced he isn't seeking reelection?

That's certainly not a good thing, but are we still under the impression that people learning about climate change is the primary hurdle to addressing it in a meaningful way? It seems pretty clear to me that we don't want to address it and new information has no impact on that prevailing attitude.

They manufacture a significant portion of the transport hardware that makes up the backbone of the internet. They also just acquired Infinera who had another sizable chunk of that market.

Theoretically. I doubt he would. Still, even in that case he has to make a significant time investment. I could reasonably be called an expert in my chosen field but I'd still be justifiably angry with you if you intentionally made me use the skills I've learned in my field under threat of financial or other legal repercussions.

Sure, but you shouldn't have to. Your response makes it sound like the person who appears to be getting money stolen from them is acting unreasonably when they are most certainly not the party acting that way.

I don't think anyone can do anything without fear of prosecution anymore. That's a big part of this administrations strategy. Merit of a lawsuit has no bearing on the situation if it costs you hundreds of thousands of dollars to prove your innocence.
