yeah, there's a difference between west wing sorkinites and people who are borderline uninvolved in politics but vote blue because red is vocally unhinged in a way that blue (usually) avoids. like a lib who works at wal mart is much more reachable than a lib who works at raytheon and it's kind of ridiculous to pretend that's not the case

it's the level of absolute derangement she causes in libs that got me. can't go wrong either way, neither the Greens or PSL is going to win (though there must be a tiny chance of 5% for the Greens if they're calling in VOA) but both send the message and for left of democrat reasons.
retail/customer service lifer here (got a dreaded blue hair sjw degree with no postgrad) and i can sympathize deeply. it's a job type that traps you in via CV but it's not a "career" because you're not gaining any "skills" (you're certainly gaining all sorts of skills but your position is all cost to the bean counters). you make nothing financially and you gain no social cache and you likely will be called "lazy" or whatever by button pressers and email jockeys.
it can be (often is) deeply painful and like you said, the only real benefit i've found is in the general comradery vs. what people report in their cushier jobs. If nothing else, take pride in being a true proletarian as much as any hard hat guy (much more in many cases). With more knowledge of theory and organizing there is fertile ground in our milieu and as conditions deteriorate retail/service workers will form an indispensable part of any mass movement.
