  • @THED4NIEL Use whatever tools you want for yourself, EXCEPT for communication. For communication it needs at least two people and the other party now has to use software that doesn't respect their freedom just to communicate with you.

  • @matricaria There is a community around XMPP. Of course you will find most of them in public XMPP channels, but many are also active in the Fediverse/Mastodon. I don't have any Apple devices, but a few of my friends use Monal ( @Monal ) which seems to be the most reliable client on iOS currently.

  • @baselessdiscourse The gold standard has always been XMPP. It's the IETF Internet Standard for messaging, no walled gardens, ability to self-host, no phone numbers required and modern clients use the same end-to-end encryption protocol as Signal does.

  • @goampu Making content just to have content makes very boring content. Also talking about how many users are on Lemmy and how it is not Reddit.

  • @Cevilia @TendieMaster69 XMPP Matrix. Proper IETF internet standard, less bloat and not dependent on venture capital funding.
