Layoffs hit Japan as Final Fantasy Brave Exvius developer asks 80 employees to “voluntarily resign”
  • It's just how they word layoff and severance package. In Japan voluntary resignation can be also entitled for severance package depending roles/duration of employment, and this gives larger package than regular voluntary resignation is entitled to, to make them resign "voluntary".

  • A Cool Guide to Protein Sources.
  • Just to check, did a quick search on usda.

Values aren't off that much, tho meat protein value seems to be overstated. It's still likely propaganda, since they're not calorie-wise protein which gives better outlook for balaced diet.

  • United Airlines launches personalized ads on seat-back screens
  • I think they can retain customers' past flight records and maybe list of media played in flights. That said it's almost guaranteed some ad marketing corpo is behind, and EULA is always vague enough to allow sharing external party...

  • Japanese use JIS but A size is the same with ISO so there's no confusion here. For B size there's slight difference in JIS and ISO, but as end user I hardly print anything other than A4 so haven't encountered problems myself.

  • Some mushrooms can be poisonous after 24h, just in case. angel wing mushroom shows no digestive symptoms but encephalopathy after 2 day to 1 month of latent period. The mushroom was known to be edible for a long time. Were it not for full screening for encephalopathy cases (enforced due to SARS spread back in 2004), it could've remain "edible" still now.

  • shrimp colour drama
  • So its like they're living compressed png world chosing 4bit as color depth (it's 16 colors tho). I'm no retro gamer but some old graphics presents unbelievable level of expression with limited colors, so it's possible they're seeing something amazing still.

  • Germany: Citizenship law could prompt 50,000 Turks to apply
  • From a country who strips one's citizenship if one gets another (Japan) and following the court cases to allow dual citizenship I say the motivation for dual citizenship is not because so that they can work for their origin country. Duties and rights of citizen work in both ways.

From what I can tell the main motivation for citizenship is a) directly related restriction in job market ( eg. operating license for the field) or b) to legalize and secure their right to stay with their family members. Immigrants have financially attached to the country of living and their decision is often practical, and their vote is dependent on whether the policy is beneficial to them, like people with single citizenship.

It needs proper background check for sure, but the argument of foreign interference is fear mongering and often xenophobic imo.

  • A 3d printer is basically just a really fancy hot glue gun
  • Not all printers are, but FDM printers are. SLA printers, the one uses projector and resin to makr high detailed figurines or parts with precision are basically fancy nail polish and curing light combimed.

  • This
Japan is on its own wavelength.
  • You are likely to only refer more than current era. If you're writing govmet grant application, renewing licence or certificate, chances are you mention events hapenned in previous era. You look up table for when the previous era started and ended, which era said year falls into, then convert for each year, each era. Extra minutes wasted every time instead of simply writing in Gregorian year.

  • Japan is on its own wavelength.
  • Reiwa era enters the chat

Most of Japanese hates the arbitary currender year resetting at each new emperor enthronrment. The conversion is ass and no one knows when it changes (bound to emperor's health) . Worst is its official year that govmt body accepts.

  • Greebles!
  • I only encountered once, but when it happened I had to realize how old science field may have been different. The exact detail I was looking for should be in [20] ... but "[20] to be published" (presumably by the same author). I couldn't find any papers by author's name other than that but the author was so sure getting published.

  • Space is starting to look like the better mining operation | Mining in space might be less environmentally harmful than mining asteroids on Earth.
  • And all the mining waste are dumped in space, where people thought out of human's reach so it's safe to leave it there, until proven otherwise. I may be pessimistic, but if such technological advance made it will likely expand region of human activity and thus history repeats.
