  • Nice. Is this an intel mac or an Apple silicon one?

  • discrimination against the people of ICE.

  • watching someone switch to linux

    They install gnome

they install extensions to make it look like windows

    gnome breaks

    repeat.

  • Subaru get that bucket off your head.

  • That remind me I should finish the audiobook of it soon, I only have half an hour left.

I remember the example of a soviet newspaper that were outraged that their press wasn't be subsidized by the state so they costs skyrocketed and parenti said that they expected to reap the safety net of state socialism while also enjoying the luxury of capitalism.

  • Yes but can it Linux and GNU? HarmonyOS doesn't seem to be published anywhere. The specs are absolutely wild though as most Chinese OEMs are.

  • It's more his father than anything. AJ is just a neglected neurodivergent kid who never got help.

  • You can always tell its trump posting through his magnetic prose.

  • The one piece anime by toei is a very horrible adaptation that ruins most of the series through poor pacing (1 chapter or even less per episode).

There is a community led project called one pace that redistributes a edited down version of the anime minus all the padding.

This is not directly related to what you said but the one piece anime is an example of capital subsuming all critiques of it.

  • Anime is corporate dogshit of capital trying to milk revolutionary aesthetics.

Manga is pretty good with some dated problematic stuff.

  • The government hammers this home by keeping costs for beauty products and treatments low, even offering pro bono cosmetic procedures to North Korean refugees looking to assimilate into their new home.

Communism is when you're ugly. Capitalism is when you're desirable.

  • It's really funny that you have chuwi making laptops with the most high end screens imaginable that you can't find anywhere else in western OEMS and then attach it to a multiple generations old x86 CPU and a weak 35 watt battery.

Apparently the weaker batteries are there because Chinese students dont often use their laptops in class and only use their laptops around 3-5 hours all around the day, go figure.

  • My main complaint about Gnome is that extensions will often break or no longer work whenever Gnome gets updated.

There's a JSON file that controls this and most extensions just break because their authors don't update that variable for the new version when they're perfectly fine otherwise. Plasma 5->6 broke every script/extension but it's never put on the spotlight because GNOME advertises desktop extensions far better than KDE because GNOME is so conservative with major changes.

  • KDE folks have it the worst with this. Calling KDE Plasma a windows clone makes me hurt so much because of how much they contributed to the entire field of computer science and how Windows had copied them as well.

Windows is the ripoff privatized version of KDE.

  • Underrated part of GNOME is that dconf is so easy to interface with compared to other bespoke configuration languages.

It's so programmatic in all the right ways.

  • Using KDE has made me realize how distracting feature creep can be and has made me infinitely grateful for GNOME's hostility to shipping unfinished or band-aid fixes (though it does have its drawbacks).

KDE will always have more mass appeal just because of current computing culture (and that's a good thing, we need someone to take the fall for Windows and Mac refugees) but imo GNOME's design fundamentals is so rock solid and nice to use.

  • Why do you think so?
