He might have done the coolest secular stuff ever. I don't know whether or not he envisioned something that would be completely good in practice, and I disagree with some things like what he said about free will, but I wish he influenced a lot more people, and the venus project is worth trying. I actually felt disappointed when I learned that Venus Snoasis was an april fools joke.

Reddit and lemmy didn't seem to change that much. Maybe I got used to not being on it, but probably not. The alternative sources of stimulation have changed a lot in the change to adulthood and being at college. Also I'm now remembering that this break felt hard for a little bit in the beginning, so now idk if it got easier.

I just finished another break (commenting in the lemmy dev ama was an exception). Last year it felt hard. This year it might have been too easy a little bit.

The stack is overall amazing, but not perfect. Waiting for the Rust code to compile is sometimes very annoying, but I wouldn't want to use a different language. And we had to implement somewhat complicated things that existing Rust libraries did not do. For example, I made the "i_love_jesus" library so Lemmy could have cursor pagination that uses indexes well and allows bringing back the "back" button, we have a few custom QueryFragment impls because of diesel's limitations, and we have a custom migration runner to do fancy stuff (see crates/db_schema/src/schema_setup.rs).
