Hey Lemmy give me an album to listen to

Here’s my 100 most listened to albums on last.fm for reference of what my taste is like, don’t let that stop you from recommending me things you think I won’t like though I’m trying to expand my horizons.

I also like listening to small artists, I write a series of artist features all about people less than a million Spotify listeners so if you have any recommendations for that lmk.

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love trying new things to keep the joy of it alive. So Lemmy, what are your favorite Halloween traditions?

I’ll go first. I love watching Over The Garden Wall every October, either on Halloween or a bit earlier. What about you?

Most of the trick-or-treaters have been skipping my house, and I finally figured out why
  • Me and some friends of mine went out “reverse trick or treating” tonight, we carried around a door knocking at houses and giving them candy, and doing the same for any trick or treaters, that kind of thing. We were really disappointed by how few people we saw, and a majority of the houses in the area just had bowls. It made us feel quite sad actually.

I think we were just in an older neighborhood, full of mostly empty nesters with a few younger couples. I hope anyways. There’s a part of me that’s worried that Halloween is like a dying holiday I guess, but maybe that’s just because I’ve gotten older and have a different perspective. Who knows.

  • Made my matrix.org account by signing in with google (big mistake)
  • You're a lifesaver. I feel like they should really make that an easier process.

  • In the era of remakes and remasters, what niche game would you like to see receive the treatment?
  • That's crazy, I had no idea. I'm definitely gonna have to check that out. Thanks for letting me know

  • Thoughts on Chromakopia?
  • Working on a review of it right now, i'm absolutely blown away. I definitely think it's AOTY, and probably his personal best album.

  • Made my matrix.org account by signing in with google (big mistake)

What's up, I'm new to matrix and have just been getting into it, I'm trying to replace discord with it. When prompted to make an account I stupidly chose the "continue with google" option. This didn't seem like such a big deal at first, but now as far as I can tell it's impossible for me to sign in on my phone. The element client on IOS doesn't have an option to continue with google, and since I chose that I don't have a password, and I can't make a password without providing my existing password (which I don't have). Does anyone have any ideas? should I just make a new account and start fresh?

In the era of remakes and remasters, what niche game would you like to see receive the treatment?
  • I’d love to see Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask get a full remade release, bundled together into one game ideally. Sure we got the 3ds remakes but I wanna see it back on home consoles, like tp and ww HD.

  • Considering switching to Linux, looking for some input
  • I’ve heard a lot of good things about bigwig, but I had no idea it was made by ex Ableton devs. That’s super cool, I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Considering switching to Linux, looking for some input

Hey there Linux community. I’ve been interested in Linux lately and have been considering switching to Linux Mint from windows 11. My main pc is a Surface Laptop Studio with an intel i7, 32g ram, 1 terabyte ssd, and an rtx 3050 ti gpu. I’m thinking about trying out dual booting to see how I like it, but I have some questions.

I use my laptop for a lot of creative work, video editing, web design, music production, photography, etc. I’m not too worried about it because I’ve come across many promising FOSS alternatives, but there’s some software I’d like to ask about specifically. I ditched Adobe Premiere in favor of Davinci Resolve a while ago and I know that there’s a native Linux version of Resolve, and I’m just curious about how well that runs for the people that use it?

As far as music production goes I’m an avid user of Ableton Live. It’s been my go to for years and I know that support for it on Linux isn’t the best, if it’s even there at all. I’ve seen a few people claim they’ve gotten it working but it seems a little suspicious to me. So to anyone in the music space, what are the best Linux supported alternatives? Or, in the event I decide to switch, should I maintain my dual boot setup to just stick with Ableton?

I’m also pretty locked into the Microsoft ecosystem with OneDrive (I get a terabyte of cloud storage for free so it’s where almost all of my files are). I’m in the process of trying to setup my own cloud storage with nextcloud or something similar, but until then I’m curious if I’d be able to set up OneDrive live file syncing in my Linux environment, similar to how it works on windows? If anyone has any experience with that I’d love to hear some input.

Not something that’s absolutely necessary, but I’m just curious if the touch support of my laptop would be maintained. Since it’s a surface device it’s actually a really nice touch screen, and the pen input is great, my wife borrows it for digital drawing sometimes and loves it. I don’t use it all the time but I do occasionally and it’d be a huge plus if it still worked just as well.

I think those are pretty much the only things holding me back from fully dedicating myself to switching, so I’d really appreciate some input. Thanks!

What do you like/dislike about lemmy?
  • I have loved my time with Lemmy so far. I feel like people are much kinder here compared to Reddit, it feels like a genuine community of people that are willing and able to help one another out and chat and talk, without the people of Reddit that just bully and make fun of for no good reason other than just because. I think that’s the biggest reason I prefer lemmy over Reddit, along with the benefits of being decentralized and federated.

But I miss the near infinitely larger user base on Reddit and the things that come with that. On Reddit I can find a community for pretty much anything I can imagine. I’ve always loved using Reddit as a tool to help me learn, because regardless of what it is I’m learning I can find somewhere that I can ask any question I could think of, and 9/10 times someone out there out of the millions of Reddit users can give me a decent competent answer. That’s my favorite part about Reddit. That is, if they don’t just call me stupid and tell me I’m an idiot or something like that.

But I feel hopeful that Lemmy can get to a similar point some day.

  • Hey Lemmy, what's a movie you think everybody should see at least once?
  • Hell yeah that’s my favorite movie ever

  • If tomorrow you had 24 fully uninterrupted free hours to do with as you please, how would you spend your time?
  • I have adhd and I’m currently unemployed, so this is how most of my days are spent.

  • People of Lemmy, what games have you been playing lately?
  • How many rooms do you currently have?

  • If tomorrow you had 24 fully uninterrupted free hours to do with as you please, how would you spend your time?
  • I’ve been unemployed for around six months, that’s actually part of why I asked is to see what other people do with so much free time.

  • If tomorrow you had 24 fully uninterrupted free hours to do with as you please, how would you spend your time?
  • If I may ask, what kind of music, what would you read, or what movies?

  • People of Lemmy, what games have you been playing lately?
  • I’m so glad. I’ve heard that’s a good one

  • People of Lemmy, what games have you been playing lately?
  • Classic dead space or remake?

  • People of Lemmy, what games have you been playing lately?
