  • this is never going to work, they need to get a friendly general to blast him

  • i dont really get this metaphor but for sure this should be an eye opening moment for people who think that policies and procedures matter when a president willing to ignore them outright.

  • european racists have much lower tech than american racists. this is like 90s tactics.

  • Looks like nostalgia bait for the late 90s geocities/angelfire personal webpage era complete with the lofi SVGA aesthetics.

  • don't worry, they can multitask

  • x is just going to be the most expensive personal phpbb of all time by the end of this

  • This is such a weird boots on the ground tactic for cost cutting that I’m actually kind of impressed Elon thought it up.

It doesnt seem very durable of course but if you do enough damage it’ll take a long time to reverse.

  • I don't really buy it. Unwinding the US empire might be a side-effect here but I don't think it's their primary goal. I think there's a couple things going on. First you have Trump and Elon who are probably just looking to enrich themselves and their buddies. They aren't really true believers in anything but they see a smash & grab opportunity. And then second in the background you have the Heritage Foundation in there handing Trump & Elon the hammers to, hopefully, smash their way to a Christian Libertarian paradise.

Trump has had expansionist rhetoric that seems to contradict the idea that they want to get rid of their vassals. In fact the only reason the Canada tariffs seem to exist is to coerce them into joining as a state - which yes would get rid of them as a vassal but in practical terms doesnt change the relationship much since like 80% of Canada's trade is with the US.

  • i think -2% in futures may translate to a bigger drop at market open

  • I don't think they can. Like politicians can do all the trade deals they want but the infrastructure doesn't exist to get shit to ports that dont have the capacity to handle all the shit. Don't get me wrong Canada SHOULD be able to do trade with other countries but they got complacent.

  • Turns out Trump isn't Hitler after all, he's Mussolini.

Also tech has been like this forever. Youtube was the video winner because Google was ok with losing infinite money until all the competition went out of business, for example.

  • looks like they're doing a retaliatory 25% tariff starting tuesday, so it's gonna go both ways

  • it's "activity" so I'm guessing it's literally any action including upvotes and comments. So likely this is just a chart mirroring reddit's american userbase activity, excluding weekends and holidays.

  • if i remove all the data i dont like i end up with data i do like

  • how does this guy run a company with like 80,000 people and not realize you need to release communications to all employees publicly as well because there are fucking 80,000 people receiving whatever it is you're saying so leaks are inevitable.

  • one surprise though is that the canadian subreddits are surprisingly amicable toward china compared to how they normally behave.

  • even like 40 years ago people would use checks and their bank accounts wouldnt update instantly so theyd have to track their money manually.
