Does anyone use emacs as their main terminal emulator?
  • Vterm not working well with evil was actually my motivation to drop evil completely and embrace emacs key bindings.

It was the best decision I made. I don't perceive a any measurable impact on my ability to efficiently write code or edit text, but I've seen a significant improvement on my ability to use emacs in general

  • New old toy (iPod 5th gen)
  • I'll never forget actually winning a 4th gen iPod through one of those "shock the monkey and win an iPod" things.

You had to sign up for some magazines or some shit, and then get five people to do the same thing under you.

At the time I had DSL that gave me a new IP address every time I connected. So I was able to pretend to be six people and do it all myself. I couldn't believe when the fuckin thing actually showed up at my door.

The Internet in the early 00's was fuckin wild.

  • Shower thought: Linux would be more popular if we could all agree on a distro
  • First off nobody can agree on anything, ever, so this is some fantasy world that will never exist.

Second, I've seen this complaint for at least 20 years and yet the Linux ecosystem is stronger than ever.

Fragmentation is a strength, not a weakness. There are amazing developers who would never have had the opportunity to contribute if development was monolithic like you are proposing.
