  • if kamala wins those people are gonna be really disappointed when women's healthcare continues to be dismantled and she does fuck all about it just like the dems now, and always. Obama regime had for a while full majority in both bodies of congress and majority governorships and executive and a sympathetic to RoevWade court and could have enshrined abortion rights and contraceptive access right then and there (as well as LGBTQ civil rights protections and countless other things) rather than letting it sit in a tangential legal precedent. but they did nothing other than bail out the banks and allow the ruining of vast swathes of working class (and largely PoC) families. Then didn't pressure RBG to retire and also gave away an open seat (so 2 supreme court seats) for free to the Dems' "good friends across the aisle" meaning the veritable Holden Bloodfeasts of the Republican party. And now Biden is denouncing even the idea of expanding or packing the court and has done very little, close to nothing, against womens' and LGBTQ rights being stripped everywhere; and even kept on a bunch of Trumps' reactionary and corporate-thug judges on.

I've been trying to explain this to people so hopefully if/when that happens they can become radicalized because this shit is not working, has not worked, and will not work.

  • they've been doing this since Obama's 2nd term. Honestly even since the bailout but especially through the 2nd term. And the 2016 primaries radicalized a lot of people too. Now all of Bidenmala's rightwing policies and genocidal lunacy and ignoring/talking down to and berating protestors and dissenters etc. and furthering this "outside agitator" trope that's always used by white supremacist government and their pigs to justify crushing protests. They did it for MLK even and Wehrmacht Walz used it when sending in the army to crush the George Floyd uprising in Minneanapolis

  • the Muslim ban wasn't even stopped by dems they did fuck all about it other than finger-wag like always. It was the courts that stopped it; the same courts the federal supreme court of which Obama gave a seat for free to his "good friends across the aisle" and didnt pressure RBG to retire and which Biden refuses to expand or pack and even denounces the idea. And which for lower courts Biden kept on a lot of Trump's awful appointments ,like that Chevron lawyer who helped defend Chevron's destruction of Amazon and poisoning natives and helped prosecute Donziger

"outside agitators" to discredit protests and justify repression is old as dirt too; and often racist --- they did that against MLK even. Wehrmacht Walz used it to justify sending in the army to crush the George Floyd uprising in Minneanapolis

  • thats how I felt when I was recommended to read the Road to Serfdom by Hayek early on in my political development, when it became known I was studying different ideological constructions, analyses, and critiques of economics and political economy and theory and people suggested a bunch. Conquest of Bread was kumbaya idealist tripe (and that was before I even read much Marx) but it was whatever and had some nice ideas. But Hayek made me want to go back in time and beat him to death with his own book. This was a long time ago but I recall it started off right off the bat going "SOCIAL WELFARE IS SOCIALISM AND SOCIAL WELFARE IS WHAT MADE THE NAZIS HAPPEN WHO WERE SOCIALIST" it was a teeth-gritting experience.

  • my capacity for hate watching MSNBC is being eroded.

You ever had the capacity to do that?

Also fun fact about MSNBC, the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, the imperialist Trilateral Commission ghoul behind the proxy "Afghanistan trap" against the Soviets, is on MSNBC's Morning Joe talking to everyone's mom. She brought him on once to celebrate his "achievements." Brzezinski's son is also Biden's ambassador to Poland during this Ukraine proxy war (funny that)

  • For further reading:
Here's an article on the extremist childrens' books the CIA smuggled into madrassas:
From the US, The ABCs of Jihad
The CIA would then back death squads to do terrorist night raids, which included raiding and kidnapping and killing kids in madrassas and threatening them to never come back decades later in the US "anti-terror" occupation. This was under Obama Democrat regime btw
    The CIA’s Afghan Death Squads

And a coupla few articles on Azov and C-14's state-funded Nazi "education centers," Nazi "community organizations," and Nazi-youth military summer-camps

  • yes those masses and growing of homeless and those bleeding out in gutters in ghettoes and those being wasted away dying at 50 in lumpenized meth-addicted post-industrial towns and those in run down slum neighborhoods with poisoned water, and those lining mass prisons wall to wall in greater proportion than anywhere in history really 100% benefitting because of cheap oil and 2ndhand toasters.

to say nothing of capitalism's contradictions being definitionally impossible to outrun. The rate of profit always falls. Anti-imperial and de-colonial struggles will always continue until they win. China is only growing as well and actively has been speeding this up for ages. Monopoly capital being financialized in globalized firms and stored in swiss banks etc. does jack shit for many but the few who own it and the tiny number of middlemen. This just smacks of a detached and privileged position that comes from not spending a lot of times in truly poor and destitute and broken and left-behind areas even in the US in the 'heart of the beast' so to speak. Idk how anyone who's lived and worked in these kinds of places could say this kind of stuff and the other ultra handsitting stuff you said elsewhere, which also erases a long history of struggle which prompted multiple waves of reactionary crackdowns and criminalization and both bureaucratized and street white terror campaigns for a reason.

  • totally shameless hand-sitting opportunism, and ignores the multiple waves of mass radical and communist movements which were the reasons behind things like the multiple red scares and COINTELPRO etc. in the US. Rome and bread and circuses? This is silly copy paste idealism. half a millenia ago. these are fundamentally different worlds and different societies with fundamentally different economic and political structures and relations. different class relations (and very intermingled class relations compared to the slave empire of Rome), different information and media dispersal and connectivity between regions and capabilities of elevated consciousness, greater ability to bridge linguistic divides, all kinds of huge differences that make this nonsense to say. And also, is opportunism definitionally. And spits in the face of those who have been and are in the struggle every day, organizing workplaces, communities, prisons, students, etc. many who've given their lives and freedom for the struggle and continue to struggle.

  • yeah you usually have to build it up bit by bit too I've found, with foundational topics relevant to their lived experience. A topic at a time to build out the Marxist framework. It is why it is important to have studied and struggled with the theory enough to be able to speak confidently and coherently and formulate analyses in real-time on a given topic that is relevant to the living reality of the modern day (not just copy/pasting vulgarly from past writings to today as if conditions and circumstances are the same). You need people to accept basic axioms before building things out. And that isn't too hard in of itself. Working people I've found are in general very receptive to foundational principles like propertyless proletarian class position vs capitalist class position, wage labor, capital, value and surplus value extraction; because they live it every day at their shit jobs with shit bosses who do nothing while being paid the most and you can draw a pretty easy line with it. Richard Wolff has done this with a lot of people (though I disagree with him on further extents of his politics, his co-op market socialism stuff). Once they have an understanding of this basic essential axiomatic framework it becomes much easier to build on it and situate it in a historical continuity for them etc. and connect it to broader realities. And as always people involved in struggle with you by their side will be more receptive to having their consciousness heightened than otherwise.

  • Voters matter for the mandate, not for the policy. You're conflating the two. Votes don't change policy but the reason Dems are freaking out over 3rd parties and sending lawyers to purge from ballots and doing such a media blitz for Kamala against Trump is because they need the mandate from voters, especially in the swing states. There is always an aspect of doublespeak in public statements for both the donors and the voterbase, as well as backdoor and personal meetings to court donors. Saying they don't need voters makes no sense; they only need a certain margin of voters but they still need them in order to be given the mandate for their wing of the political establishment to take power.

  • I think the phrase is backwards

If you support the Democrats you are not a leftist, you are not progressive, you are Trump with a blue coat of paint.

    rather:

If you're leftist/progressive, why are you supporting these policies, or supporting the politicians who support these policies? Where do you stand on immigrant rights? Did you dislike when trump did x y z? Obama created those border cages first, and was known as "deporter-in-chief" among immigrant rights groups and socialists for being so draconian. Then, with Kamala as "Border-czar," Biden deregulated the border camps, allowed them to be privatized, and issued an executive order to totally shut the border which when Trump tried to do it it was so extreme the courts blocked him on multiple separate levels.

Then you're getting positive engagement, actually having them tell you what they believe and having conversations about it, and challenging the politicians to pull the worker away from hollow faith in jackals.

Rather than just accusing people of things, calling them names, and acting in a gatekeeping way pushing them further from ever accepting leftist positions because you're actively telling them that they don't and aren't leftists and basically insulting them and condescending to them for being misled by the agents of empire who have total media and social media narrative supremacy. which might make you feel good but does nothing to convince anyone and does nothing to grow socialism.
