  • The strangers and the family.

  • Lol, they cannot get my preferences from my sex, gender or any meaningless pieces of information.

  • No idea, just interpreted it as what they meant.

  • Well, that's a fault of the client. Really it should be working on such basic functionality, if it doesn't have it already.

    What do you mean?

  • Sure, but the problem is that people aren't taught those skills necessarily. So it does help when people are willing to help out in case those skills or ability to do that or for many other reasons aren't possible.

    We get that not everybody can or wants to, but a quick "I'm unable to help you" is fine, yet we see so mahy people being rude instead. Leave space for those who can or want to help instead 🙂

  • Please read our profile.

  • We all have to start somewhere, it's better to help than gatekeep.

  • the most important this to have when pirating is common sense

    We disagree actually, it's to have well written tutorials and not to rely on the idea that people can just know things from nothing.

    We get the frustration in this meme but honestly, we never liked this kind of attitude in tech spaces, it's exclusionary, gatekeepy and harms people. We understand not wanting to answer every single question but some well written tutorials etc to link to are better than having everyone starting in ignorance and getting in trouble or being harmed for it.

    Especially if said tutorials keep up to date and add more answers to people's questions over time.

    After all, being helpful actually helps the pirate community in that more people seed, so helping others is actually win-win. There's really no downsides whereas expecting others to know everything or being rude stops this from happening and thus is a loss for all of us.

  • I don't think it's a an inherent trait or anything. Just that men can be problematic in two ways either they do or say

    <bad thing>

    or they don't stand up to refute/challenge when other men do or say

    <bad thing>

    . If they aren't either of those then that's good then.

    I'm not interested in talking about other groups at the moment as this is only about men, please stay on the subject, if you intended to compare or contrast that isn't helpful and is just a distraction.

    Ultimately what I want is for men to work on themselves and each other without either blaming other groups of people, or requiring other groups to sort out their problems for them, and for them to stop harming others. Yes I don't think that this should stop other groups or individuals from those groups caring or helping if they want to but it shouldn't be an expectation.

    Hope this clears that up.

  • If you mean just video games, then yes we agree.

    TTRPGs can be this way, but don't have to be.

  • Seriously though, there's no need for this on most sites, forms etc. We wish they'd just do away with such things altogether.

  • The problem with video games and being 'evil' is a lack of nuance or exploring the space.

    You can either be 'good' or 'evil' and there might not be much middle ground nor realistic reasons for being either.

    TTRPGs are much better places to explore this dichotomy in because you can have actual reasons and it's not just about being a mustache-twirling villain or goodie two shoes.

  • Yes and no. It's good if people have critical thinking skills yes, but either not everybody does, or they can still be tricked. Block lists etc allow people to avoid harm. So whilst I personally do not like Shinigami Eyes for many reasons, other tools where information is shared on who to block or ignore are useful.

  • Whisper networks are only useful if you're part of them though. They often exclude newcomers and actively allow them to get hurt, then blame them for doing so.

    Warning for talk of S.A. etc:

  • Finally. That thing is a damn privacy risk and is used frequently for revenge because some peopke don't like certain realities others face such as trans men/masc people existing or experiencing hatred.

    There is zero accountability from the creators either. It needs to either have the right to be removed permenantly or stop being a thing.
