  • Took some days off and decided to fuck off to my hometown for a few days. Time stands still in a weird way here. Like, life moves on but at the same time almost nothing changes. I see the same people I saw years ago when I still lived here. The stories people tell me are the same stories. It's as if they outside world has no influence on this little area of the world. It's both comforting and yet extremely boring at the same time. I feel at home while at the same time I feel like living in some sort of dream state like it isn't real life.

  • It seems the reporting on this changed throughout the day but at the moment I posted this I saw several news sources (some of which in my own language) claim what the title claimed. Guess you can really never trust them.

Trump accuses Ukraine of starting the current conflict

  • The downside of working for an org that is trying to help as many people as possible is that I see a lot of people and I am once again sick. I used to never get sick but ever since I see a 1000 people a week my body decided to say fuck that.

  • Hello it is I, Ruben Brekelmans, asking you to risk your life for our clog loving country

  • It seems the EU is actually butthurt by the US-Russia negotiations and they are now willing to send troops to Ukraine, which is just waiting for incidents to happen.

Liberal politics: my city is contemplating hiring external security firms for and blocking access to metro stations

  • Crazy how Lenin came up with these lines man

  • Ngl with the edit this is a funny troll

  • Lmao yeah that was funny to see, so incompatible with what they stand for. I was also there when the egg throwing started. They were secured as if all the nation's gold reserve was stored in the building.

Did you go for your workplace or just a different org?

  • Like what is the point? They are not rich. They will never be rich. And their leaders slash their retirement funds to shreds, make their healthcare unaffordable. And yet they keep going after them like sheep. 'We absolutely need to buy new tanks man otherwise PUUUUUTIN!!!! Well we actually spend too much on healthcare so we need to cut back a little, it will be tough but necessary. Billions in tax cuts to rich people? Billions in paid dividends? Never heard of it.'

    I fucking hate liberals

  • Well one thing that could help is to just focus on a day to day basis. Saying: 'Iwill not drink today' is easier than thinking about forever.

  • Just came back from the protest. Several parties involved say there were 100k people, though police says 60k. The truth must be somewhere in between.

    As for the protest itself:

For reasons that are still unclear to me I decided to take the offer of an edible made by one of my coworkers. I am no stranger to edibles but this thing just slapped me in the face right at the beginning of the protest. Life started to move in slow motions, everything felt kinda warm and I was really feeling the vibe. It was cool to see so many people come together against the government. I think it is the biggest protest I ever attended.

For a large part I was walking behind a female antifa block which looked very cool. They were chanting and singing and it was rad. They look rad too, like they could kick my ass any moment.

Somewhere during the protest we stopped at the office of one of the government parties and people started throwing eggs and stuff at the windows. Police got involved and some tear gas was dispersed but no serious injuries it seems. I was hanging around the action at the time lol.

Then: In Brussels you have this street full of embassies. Most of them are just a six story building with a fence and a flag. Not the US Embassy my friends. It was made up out of several building, with a fence with spikes, a heavily guarded personal road and another fence at the normal street level, equipped with dozens of camera's. I thought that was really funning and telling of the state of this world. Like, not even the Russian embassy was that heavily secured.

All in all I had a great time and the vibe was amazing. And we are not done yet as another general strike is coming up in a few weeks.

  • Fair enough. I have been sober for half a year now and it can be a hard thing to do. I had several attempts in the past.

Recreational usage should be fine as a goal. Not everyone wants to stop forever and if they can control their drinking why should they?

  • Today is the day of the big strike in Belgium. We are expecting tens of thousands of workers in Brussels and it should be massive.

  • Unemployment is sucha bullshit thing to measure tbh. I work in the unemployment sector and 95% of people I see are on and off the job again, working shit jobs for low wages for two weeks, getting benefits for the other two weeks of the months. They live in poverty.

They are not included in the long time unemployment category though. But there is nothing great about their situation.

  • Do online communities count as support groups? I hope so, especially for trans people who are often shunned by their direct surroundings.

  • Proper marvel brain liberalism

  • I currently work at a union and it is the most mentally taxing job I ever had. The pressure is insane. The managers are insane. I have never seen so many coworkers crying, on the brink of a burnout. It is absolutely mental working here.

I don't want to discredit the good work out union does but on the inside it is fucking vile and I am honestly considering quitting.
