  • This is very well said. So many people make this out to be a men vs. women power struggle when it is really focused on whether a fetus is human or not. That's why well-informed women can be pro-life, and well-informed men can be pro-choice.

  • You have no basis for your claim of false rape accusations being statistically insignificant. Only 2-5% of rape cases result in a conviction, which is the only provable statistic that is relevant, which suggests that 95%+ of rape accusations are false (obviously the legal system isn't 100% just, my point is you have no evidence or basis for your claim).

"I care about the increase in human suffering". Like I said in my first reply, this is the same argument used in the original post, which everyone in this thread is shitting on. Take a good long look at your morals because they seem to be very extreme and unstable.

  • You really invalidate your position when you state that you wouldn't even care if more false accusations increase. You are making this a men vs. women issue which is it absolutely not. This tribalism is not only unproductive it's destructive. I know plenty of informed women who are against abortion and plenty of informed men who favor it.

You have an awful lot of faith in humanity if you think any law won't get weaponized for evil when possible. But I guess a man wrongfully going to jail for 10-20 years for rape isn't evil in your eyes, or you have gaslight yourself into believing that men are never victims.

  • Random question but I'm just wondering your position on this. Is the burden of proof on pro-choice or pro-life advocates when it comes to the humanity of a fetus? In other words, should abortion be legal until we can prove that a fetus is human or should it be illegal until we can prove it isn't? Just genuinely curious.

  • Their point was that incentivising rape allegations as a means to permit an abortion will lead to a non-zero number of instances where false allegations will occur. This is correct. Men weren't being victimized, and comparing this guy with a rapist is immature and downright disrespectful to victims of rape.

If you are ok with a few more instances of men being falsely accused of rape for the greater good of women, then your thinking is analogous to the person in the original post who was ok with 1 person being raped to stop the killing of thousands of unborn babies.

  • Ty for actually having evidence to support your claim. That being said, a poll of 2k representing the entire nation is a bit sketchy, but regardless it's still a much higher number than I thought.

  • I live in a largely Christian community and have never heard anyone push for the US declaring a national religion. Is there some specific celeb or smth you hear say this? There are certainly people out there who believe everything you listed but that isn't even close to the majority of Christians, and most right wingers aren't even Christian.

  • That could be cool as a sort of competition, players would have to balance speeding ahead of the other player to find better items with not getting so far ahead that the mobs are too strong for them to handle.

  • But you realize that he can only do what people let him? Things like the second amendment exist so that if the people want to disband/replace the existing government they can. Everyone in the military is a person with free will too. And if he tries to run for a third term, I think that there will be more than just 2 or 3 attempts on his life. It's valid to believe he will try, but there is simply nothing meaningful or lasting he can do. He's just another millionaire after fame and fortune, I don't think he's willing to get shot for it.

  • ... We the people... Remember that one? The only things that give Trump power are a piece of paper and US citizens. That piece of paper doesn't do much once people turn against him. I don't like Trump, but I also have a non-zero amount of faith in our government's structure. Next four years will probably be a downhill slide, but then there will be a rebound candidate elected in 4 years. If people in Congress vote in favor of all these ridiculously extreme amendments like you are saying they will, normal Americans will kick them out of office. Now the filibuster seems like a pretty good thing, huh?

  • So removing the filibuster 1. Can't happen while the filibuster is in place (because the left could just filibuster) and 2. Was a major pushing point for the left not more than 2 years ago. You either have no real knowledge of how the government works or think every American other than you has literal brain damage if you think that our system allows for such a radical change in 2 years. This "democracy is over" rhetoric has been said almost every 4 years like clockwork. If you think that the country is in a worse place now than it was in the Great Depression and WW2 you are delusional. I dislike Trump and voted for Kamala, because I can't stand stupid. Trump isn't Hitler. He's his own type of shit, but nowhere near as bad. It is fair to say that you think the country will be worse off with Trump as lead. But you have exaggerated it so much you look like a bigger clown than he is.
