Vision test
  • How long did that last for ya, if you don't mind my asking?

I've been in glasses/contacts since like 3rd grade? 5th grade? Somewhere in there. Always liked the idea of being able to wake up with perfect vision every day, but also wanted to wait for tech and techniques to develop a bit more. Figured there's a sweet spot for the procedure where I'll have the benefit during my squirrelly years.

Hitting them mid 30s now so I'm considering the procedure again. If I could get at least a solid decade or so before needing lenses again, feels fairly worth it. How has your experience been with it?

  • Hades II - Early Access Patch 2 Notes
  • Haven't had a chance to hit em yet but excited to. Felt okayyyy if you were patient enough to play it slow. My problem in general is being greedy and trying to speed through, which usually does more harm than good.

  • Hades II - Early Access Patch 2 Notes
  • Yeah Trial of Haste felt like a nonstarter for certain builds that weren't minimaxed for DPS. Nearly had it once, being maybe 10s off the mark (which realistically means I could've had it) but not mad about the rework at all.

  • Is Microsoft trying to commit suicide?
  • I'm flummoxed for sure. I need a computer to be a bit of a power house, ideally well equipped for music production software and live performance, DJ software, graphic design/animation/illustration, and at least for the desktop gaming. Been in the market for a laptop so I can take at least the music & design production on the go, but damn I hate laptop shopping.

Unsuuuure if Linux is compatible with the graphic/music production software I'm working with, or if there are viable work arounds. Windows 11 looks like a dumpster fire I do not wish to support. I'd really like to avoid Apple as I have my own grievances there too. Windows 10 obviously seems on the way out.

Long story long, feeling a bit lost on how best to proceed. If anyone uses Linux for similar creative endeavors, would love to hear your roses and thorns on the matter. Certainly open to recommendations for a sturdy war horse of a lappy as well.

  • Why Do You Pirate Music?
  • Pretty much this. I like to DJ, mostly a hobbyist over paying gigs these days, and have plenty of tunes ripped from the tube. Now I have the fun task of trying to replace everything with higher quality versions. Shitty rips are fine enough for a house party on a humble audio system, but proper venues with subs and high fidelity audio setup make it obvious you ripped from YouTube.

In a perfect world I would love to buy what I use. Problem is I would need an insane budget to grab what I want. I listen to a lot of a music.

  • 30 minutes or it's free!
  • Dumb guy so grain of salt, but my understanding is we'll hear sentencing in July. Quite likely not spending time in prison (but I'd love to be wrong). I just hope it's a harsher sentence than 34 wrist slaps, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Refreshing to see something productive here though. Quite sick of the circus by now.

  • Most annoying feature ever
  • As an easily-distracted multitasker I can certainly appreciate the inconvenience of clicking past it. Would be lovely to have a solid on/off in settings to omit the optional from playback.

More options almost always better than fewer in my mind!

  • Most annoying feature ever
  • Hot take but hasn't been a problem for me. Like, the feature stays off until I turn it on again, and I only turn it on when I'm trying to expand a playlist.

I use Spotify for discovering new songs, mostly for adding to the DJ arsenal. I listen to a lot of music. Enough that I make like 15-20ish playlists a year for various subgenres of tunes either released or discovered that year.

Since I compartmentalize my genres so methodically, smart recommendations tend to be on the money and more of what I'm looking for. But again, when I just wanna hear what I've assembled I just leave it off -- never on unless I turn it on.

Definitely been eyeballing alternatives though, since Spotty is getting deeper into their enshitty arc.

  • My Godzilla + King Kong Campaign

    First off, game is great!

So I made a Dragonborn for Godzilla, and got a buddy to help build an Orc for King Kong. (I'll try to upload a proper shot of my dudes later). Went lightning breath attack (mostly for the blue color) but maybe should be radiant or necrotic to better emulate atomic breath.

Godzilla is a monk/draconic sorcerer for unarmed attacks and various elemental damage. King Kong is a monk/barbarian for unarmed and rage, extra jumpy. Although sometimes he leans into Donkey Kong and hurls barrels.

Early game I've needed Gale for enlarge person. Should respec another buddy for a second enlarge. Ideally it would be peak excellence if I could make them colossal more reliably and shrink enemies for maximum size difference. I've managed to brew like 2 elixers, but still find ingredients a bit too few to do that often. Also [MAYBE SPOILER??] juuust tucking into underdark at level 5.

Wondering if anyone else has inspired ideas on how these Kings of Monsters can live their best lives. I also love how this game makes such an absurd run remotely viable in the first place!

Please also share any silly meme builds you've been brewing!

DJ's of Lemmy, where/how are you getting music for your arsenal?

Basically title. Been DJ'n for a hot minute and wondering how people are adding to their collections. Mostly mix House, DnB, Dub, Hip-hop, Lofi, and plenty of genre-blurring niche experimental biz.

Some of the stuff I have was inherited from others, some of questionable quality. Lately I've been inspired to tidy up my collection with high quality stuff. Fundamental issue is if I paid a dollar for every song I want to spin, I would be financially ruined forever.

Do you use a service? Do you pirate? Do you find giveaways? How are you filling your catalogue with proper high-quality ammo?
