Why? I love Shorts! Takes me back to the days of early YouTube, when not everything had to be a 30+ minute video and you could still discover small unknown channels just from browsing. Shorts is the best thing to happen to YouTube since they added HD support back in 2010.

Just wanted to drop by and say something cause I know at least a couple of people were expecting me in the Discord today.
These past three days have been non-stop work for me (on top of my day job. edit: Not to mention all the time it took to get the website & station up and running). I appreciate all your song submissions and applications. They just keep coming which shows me that there's a real interest in keeping this thing going. But it's easy for me to get burnt out quick, especially since I have ADHD.
So today is a mental break for me. Tomorrow I will be back at it, processing more tunes and getting all the DJs who signed up on the airwaves ASAP, so that you're not stuck listening to the same songs every single day. Also planning on making some proper bumpers to replace the generic placeholders that just say "this is Radio Lemmy" every 4 songs or so. A few people have offered to make some; can't wait to hear them.
Also, themed days are in the works, i.e. dedicated days where only one genre is played for the day. I'm thinking we'd do this twice a week, maybe 3 times. Of course DJs can still play whatever they want on those days; this will just be for the Auto DJ that picks songs when no one's connected. I figure this will help add some consistency since right now everything from every genre is just playing on shuffle.
And that's just the stuff that I'm ready to announce. Big things are planed for the station. Thanks for your support; stay tuned!

There is a system in place to prevent a song from playing more than twice per day.
That said, every time I upload a new listener suggestion, the backend running the station resets the playlists, which can cause tunes to play more often than they're supposed to. Currently working on a fix.
Don't have exact numbers, but I'm expecting to pay about $40-60/mo.

I'm planning on it. Right now we average about 15-20 listeners at any given moment. It's not the most impressive number, no, but it's better than I was expecting for our first two days!

There is a system implemented that tracks every song played for licensing purposes. Anyone can jump on with their own music and I get sent the bill afterword. I'm more than happy to pay for the licensing fees for the time being. I'll probably start begging for donations eventually.

For the past few weeks I've been working on creating my own public radio station (it's been a dream of mine since I was a kid). Well now it's up and running but I don't know what to do with it. So I thought I'd see what Lemmy thinks about the concept, before I go all in and start investing in licensing fees, better servers, and more listener capacity.
If you're interested, we'll need curators to add songs to the rotation when no DJ is on air. It's simple and straightforward. Just click "Suggest" on the top right of the website and enter the Artist + Song Title on the form.
We will also need DJs and presenters to volunteer any freetime you're willing to give up and help make this happen. Click "Join" to get started.
All styles and genres are welcome. Hop on the airwaves anytime you want. Take requests, or don't. Mix and scratch, or just play one tune after another. Host a talk show/podcast if it suits you. EDIT 4: All DJ applications have been processed so far. Check your inboxes! Gonna spend the next few hours uploading more of your song suggestions. This takes awhile because I have to manually check every tune to make sure it's suitable for airplay! Upon approval, your tune(s) will play at regular intervals. It may take a few hours for it to play for the first time. BTW, remember to use the "Submit" button. "Request" is for one time requests when a DJ is live. I'm brainstorming ideas on streamlining this so that the tune always goes to the right place.

Update: Turns out that I didn't play far enough into the main quest. After joining That space adventure club thing and bringing Lisa Sarah with me I was able to finally get where I needed to be to complete that timed quest.

I just started (about 4 hours in) and the game won't let me fast travel to another planet. "Fast travel is currently unavailable to this location".
It's too far away to just fly to (flew for about half an hour before getting bored), so how am I supposed to get there to continue a quest? Am I supposed to just wait it out as I fly there in realtime? What am I missing?

OEM parts - Albert Hwang (alternate link for mobile devices) is a very reputable (and most importantly cheap) OEM parts dealer that ships OEM parts quickly and worldwide. Send him a message on Facebook, he is usually quick to respond and you will typically get your parts within a few days. I've personally used him multiple times and cannot recommend him enough. Don't pay dealership prices for OEM parts. His Instagram page for those without Facebook.
Rockauto.com \- always has a large selection and great prices. I suggest ordering things like engine air filters, cabin air filters, and oil filters in bulk from them so you always have spares. OEM oil filters are made by Mahle, it is strongly recommended to stick to OEM filters to reduce startup rattles.

SFR \- I've personally been running a canned stage 1 tune from them in my 2010 3.8 since early 2014 for over 200k miles on the tune alone without issues. Some people say SFR had bad tunes, some don't. Mostly positive reviews, some negative ones.
Alphaspeed \- probably the most common these days, usually done by an authorized tuner in your area. Mostly positive reviews as well, but still has some negative ones too.
