How do you cheer yourself up after a rough day? Or a rough year?
  • I go take a walk. Beach would be ideal, but nowadays even at the park or lastly at the mall. Anywhere relatively safe to just walk and listen to music. I find it improves my mood.

Eating good food and taking a shower after a rough day helps a lot too.

  • What movie did you rewatch most often?
  • I only usually rewatch films whenever I feel like I'd need a pick-me-up. Something light-hearted, so I'd usually go for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

But during my recent movie marathon, I discovered more films which are actually good contenders for a rewatch such as The Fundamentals of Caring (highly recommended) and The Land of Steady Habits.

  • What genres of music do Lemmites enjoy?
  • I'd say I used to listen to metal, but nowadays, I still listen to metal lol. Huge fan of Progressive Metal/Djent/Thall bands. Not much into Deathcore/Doom Metal lately however.

At work tho, I tend to listen to a lot of instrumental stuff and genres vary greatly: mathrock, jazz, electronic, game/movie OSTs, blues, fusion, and among others.

During drives, mainly depends on the mood, but mostly revolves around the above given genres.

To name a few artists, I usually listen to the below (in random order):

    • Jakub Zytecki
    • Chon
    • Plini
    • Periphery
    • Necrophagist (when r u guys coming back 😔)
    • Dirty Loops
    • Up Dharma Down
    • Joji
    • Tycho
    • Sleep Token
    • Lorna Shore
    • Tom Misch

Would love to share some more, but these are what I thought of at the moment.

  • What's the best fucked up movie you've ever seen?
  • Agreed lol. Finally had the heart to watch it last weekend (after having known it was by A24 films). Suffice it to say, it fucked me up at different parts of the film. Amazing juxtaposition between cult/psychological horror and colorful, vibrant scenery. Great film, but probably won't watch it again.

Have heard a lot about Hereditary too, but not sure if I have enough courage to watch yet.

  • Does anyone actually enjoy working out?
  • I do light workouts at home, and it's honestly a hassle, but I enjoy the benefits of it (especially walking just to take my mind off of things). So I kinda just suck it up lol. I'm still working towards making it a habit (if not already), so what I do is also watch videos during sessions.

I find that being active along with having a balanced diet makes me feel energized throughout the day, and also make me sleep better at night.

I also look forward to cheat days. I work hard and in return, reward myself with something good. Whenever I find myself feeling lazy, I try my best to push through with it. Feels kinda bad to skip tbh so I try to make it up the following day.

  • Reddit Refugees on Lemmy, how are you guys liking lemmy so far?
  • Liking it so far. It's like stepping into another reality (or instance? am I doing this correctly) where people are just decent and not all the time spiteful. It's such a breath of fresh air. I kinda feel more at ease here. I noticed that I have shared more of my feelings here than the long time I spent on rexxit. Maybe it's cuz I share the same experience with my co-refugees. Maybe it's also the upvotes that makes me feel that people are actually reading lol

  • What are some of the best purchases of your life?
  • I'd say probably a Kindle and an electric toothbrush:

    1. Kindle Paperwhite (~130 USD) - Was addicted to social media for a while so I decided to get into a healthier hobby, and I'd wanted to get into reading for quite some time. Instead of a tablet or an actual physical book (I have nothing against it; I actually prefer it but I have storage issues), I opted for a Kindle cuz it has no intrusive notifications, and I can bring it anywhere, at different times and lighting situations.

    2. Oral-B Electric Toothbrush (~25 USD) - One of the best purchases. I like brushing my teeth in general, but having an electric toothbrush feels even better cuz it makes my mouth feel cleaner than before without having to exude much effort, and the strokes are not inconsistent.
