Does Lemmy World block the Programming Dev instance?
  • Wondering this as well because on the self hosted community it says there are 6 posts when on that instance but when I visit from a different instance it'll show there are thousands of posts.

  • Spin Rhythm XD
  • It's not just spinning and lining up the notes, but it's pressing (different kinds of) buttons as well. I find it pretty difficult compared to some similar games but that means it's all the more rewarding to find myself getting better at it. There are a lot of accessibility options as well so you can customise it the way you want.

  • Spin Rhythm XD
  • Oh really? I wasn't aware they (some of them) were the same devs! That's pretty cool. It seems the community of the game is pretty small but pretty active for its size. I really like that the game is still being updated and everything. It's such a fun game!

Yeah spinsha.re has tons of great songs!

  • Spin Rhythm XD

I vaguely remember seeing this game on Steam ages ago and thinking it looked interesting, but then forgot about it. Now, during the Steam rhythm fest, it caught my eye again and I immediately bought it. And it's so, so much fun.

So first of all, if you're into rhythm games and haven't played this, I'd highly recommend it!

My question though, is if anyone else here plays it? What are your favourite songs, or do you mostly play custom songs?

I'm currently trying to get better at playing songs in Hard difficulty but tend to accidentally mix up the beats and taps. Still trying to get used to the controls, but I love it so far!

The single most thing that improved your ADHD?
  • Meds. Everyone reacts to different meds differently so not all ADHD meds have the same (positive) effect for everyone. For me, Concerta works super well, but it might be something else for others.

Aside from meds, a routine works wonders. A routine with all of the day to day activities happening in the same order at roughly the same time (such as taking meds, doing the dishes, cooking, walking and feeding the dog, going to bed/getting up in the morning, etc). Or on the same day every week (such as cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, etc). If I need to add something to my routine it takes some time to adjust, so I preferably only add one thing at a time and other activities within my routine may get a bit chaotic for a while but as long as I stick to it it'll eventually become part of my routine.

The only downside to this is: if anything is different from my usual routine (it could be something as simple as the order of activities changing) it might mess up the routine for the rest of the day...

(C22) How do you usually organise your districts?

In Cities: Skylines 2, how do you usually organise your districts? What makes you decide an area should be a district? Roughly how big are your districts usually?

I feel like I might be overusing the districts a bit and it's getting a bit messy.

Road Builder Mod for C:S II - Trailer
  • It's so good so far! One thing I kind of wish could be done though is manually categorising the roads. Because I sometimes just want to add 1 or 2 lanes to a small road for an intersection (so basically an alternate version of the vanilla asymmetric road) but it'll list the new road under Medium Roads instead of Small Roads. I'm assuming it's because of the number of lanes, but I'd still like for it to show up under Small Roads.

Just a tip if anyone is having trouble with UI disappearing when having certain mods enabled while using the Road Builder mod. What seems to work for me is this:

    1. Exit the game after enabling the mod(s).
    2. Reload the game.
    3. Open the Mods screen in the main menu.
    4. Go to your active playset and click 'Reset Load Order'.
    5. Load your save.

This worked for me for mods such as Better Bulldozer, Anarchy, Line Tool and the Traffic mod. I haven't tried other mods yet, but I hope it'll work for those as well!

  • Why are so many people so fixated on Lemmy's growth?
  • I don't think it's the size but more the number of communities and how active they are. So if there are more people here it hopefully means there will be more active users as well. And perhaps more niche communities.

  • What's your favorite roguelike to play on the Deck that no one has ever heard of?
  • There's one game I recently discovered that I think deserves more love because it's such a good and addicting game (don't tell me I didn't warn you). The game is called Tiny Rogues and if you're a fan of roguelike/lite games (I've seen it being compared to Enter the Gungeon and Binding of Isaac a lot, but I haven't played the latter and only played a few runs of ETG so can't really compare them myself). It's really good!

  • What version of the APK to install?
  • Thanks very much for the explanation. I ended up having to uninstall the app first (instead of updating the current one, which normally works) then I installed the version you recommended and restored my backup. That seemed to do the trick!

  • What version of the APK to install?

So I normally download updates from the Github page and it works fine. It could be because I just woke up (heh) but I can't for the life of me figure out which version of the APK release (arm64, armeabi, universal, x86, x86_64) I should install on my Android (14) phone. I tried the universal one but it says it's not compatible with the current app I have installed on my phone when I try to update it.

Could anyone advise me on this? Thank you so much!

Do you prefer Reddit or Lemmy?
  • I prefer Lemmy, but unfortunately it is missing a lot of the communities I liked on Reddit, and there doesn't seem to be as much content. When I'm looking for information on a specific topic I'll still check out Reddit but I haven't logged in since the Reddit drama and don't plan to. I do hope Lemmy gets bigger, though.

  • Summer is the worst season of the year, isn't?
  • I love the spring and summer. I have fibromyalgia and the pain and fatigue is much better during the warmer months. I like the sunny weather as it cheers me up. The people outside make me feel like I'm on a holiday even when I'm not. It's the time of the year I feel the most motivated to do anything and I actually have the energy to do it.

Aside from that, the summer heat doesn't bother me that much. It's much better than the freezing cold for me. Unless it's almost 40°C, but I don't think anyone likes these high temperatures.

I agree with you about the mosquitoes, though.

  • Just started; what to expect?
  • Thanks for your response! I have asthma, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and Raynaud's. I was on a high protein diet a few years ago and worked very well for me. However, during flares I found it to be difficult to handle the restrictions (I put on myself) because when you have an autoimmune disease you can't diet like healthy people but also need to listen to your body's needs. As in, sometimes I need the extra energy / calories to just function. So I always listen to my own body in this.

I read that 3 to 4 times a week should work well, so that's why I'm trying this routine but I'll adjust this if I feel my body needs it.

Is the 14 (or however many hours) hours mainly to restrict the time window in which you can eat, to help with limiting your calories? Because I do track/log my calorie intake and am pretty good with staying within those limits.

  • Just started; what to expect?
  • The thing is, I often tend to forget to have breakfast so end up eating pretty late in the morning (at around 10 or 11, usually). So I figured I'd start at 8PM and end at 10PM. That way it wouldn't change my routine too much.

  • Just started; what to expect?

I just started IF last week as part of my weight loss journey (I'm on a high protein diet which worked very well for me before, but haven't done IF before) and decided to try IF since I heard good things about it. I'm fasting 14 hours for 4 days a week (I also have health problems, so I'm not going for the full 7 days).

I'm going for IF from Monday night until Thursday night (so basically it ends on Friday morning). I'm on my second day since I started Thursday night. On Thursday I felt pretty good, but last night was a bit of a struggle because, despite eating enough calories (and proteins) I suddenly felt rather hungry at night even though normally I don't. Maybe it's because I can't eat that I'm suddenly hungry? You know, when you can't have something you suddenly want or need it? Haha.

What can I expect? Is there anything I should watch out for? Any tips?

    Printing in grayscale in POP!_OS

I'm trying to print some documents in grayscale / black & white but it keeps printing my documents in colour instead, even if I select grayscale in one of the drop down menus in the settings (under Color > Color Model).

Does anyone know if there is a specific setting I need to change for it to print in grayscale correctly? If it helps, I have a Canon MX420 printer.

Thanks so much for your help!
