I just ordered a 3ds from AliExpress - Wish me luck.
  • I've bought a lot from AliExpress. Most of it was just random little things but I did order two CPUs in the past a 3600 and a 5700x. Both showed up in a few weeks and both were as advertised thankfully!

  • If you didn't have to work, how would you spend your time?
  • Spend most of my time with my family. We'd do lots of fun day adventures. I'd also get out on my mountain bike more and try to get back into shape. It would also be nice to hang out with my close friends more than once a month.

  • Area Man Unsure If He's Male-Bonding Or Being Bullied
  • I've known a lot of my friends for a long time, 20+ years. We hug each other every time we see each other. We also rib one another. Don't be afraid to show your friends love. Hug your bros, life is too short.

  • Men over 30, how often do you see your friends?
  • I'm very lucky to have grown up in a neighborhood with a ton of guys around my age. There are 10 of us from the ages of 29-35. I've known all these guys for 20+ years and consider them my brothers. A few of them moved away so I unfortunately don't see them often but we still talk regularly. The rest of us just had kids or have had their second kid and we all have careers. We get together maybe once a month when time permits sometimes it's a bit longer but we try and make a point to get together with the whole family as our kids are all months to a year apart in age. We all talk a fair amount in group chats and also play games together when we can. It's not like when we were in our 20s that's for sure. A few of us rented a house and we were always together having a good time. Growing up is weird. We are all very different people now with our own lives and problems but any of us would drop everything for one another if someone was in need. I love them all dearly. It's super cool that our kids will get to grow up with one another and hopefully be as good of friends with each other as we are. I consider myself so lucky to have so many friends I consider family. A lot of people don't have one best friend. I was blessed with 9.

  • What android phones do you recommend and why?
  • I've been using Motorola phones for about 5 years now. I don't want to fork out the ridiculous amount of money for the flagship phones, nor do I want to lose my "bring your own phone" plan price. They have an assortment of phones in different budget ranges and I love some of the features they come with, specifically the karate chop flashlight feature. Haven't been let down yet. I will say I use my phone mainly as a texting/calling and browsing device so I can't comment on how they do in games, as I never play games.

  • My PSP with 11 years of use, still strong today!
  • I loved my psp. It's kicking in a box somewhere in the house. I have fond memories of ad-hoc'ing Untold Legends with my friends in my buddies garage. Good times! Also as a young teen, having an internet browser at my fingertips for porn was a game changer 🤣

  • People of Lemmy who have either "reinvented themselves" or gone through a mid/quarter-life crisis, where did you start off and where did you end up?
  • I'd say go for it! Going back to school was the best decision I've made in a long time. The only thing holding you back is yourself! Hindsight I wish I did it years ago but that doesn't matter now, I did it. Do it for yourself if its what you truly want to do. Time keeps on moving, there is no point in putting it off. I did that for years, oh maybe next year... Well this is going on maybe next year.. go for it now! I believe!

  • People of Lemmy who have either "reinvented themselves" or gone through a mid/quarter-life crisis, where did you start off and where did you end up?
  • Little over a quarter life crisis. My job was slowly killing me. It was destroying my mental health, I knew I needed to do something about it. I was always on the mindset of "I'm to old to go back to school". Having gone to post secondary in my late teens and early 20s but promptly dropping out. Decided I needed to go back to school. Went back for engineering. Passed with honors and now I have a child. Life is far better than it was, it has its new up and downs but I'm much happier!

  • Anyone else gradually stopped drinking alcohol?
  • I would drink on the weekends, most every weekend. Didn't matter if I was alone playing games or out with friends. Ever since I had a kid 6 months ago I rarely drink at all. I'll have a beer when going out for supper or a beer when out with friends. I mainly stopped because I didn't want to feel shitty while trying to deal with a baby. Now I find if I have more than a couple beers in a night I'm feeling crappy which is crazy considering 6 months ago I was drinking 6+ a night on the weekends. I don't miss drinking at all and much like yourself I find they just make me feel kind of bad.

  • How journalist view modern gamers
  • I agree. I picked it up a few days ago and have been playing, man do I ever get smoked, people are insanely sweaty. I thought maybe it was due to me not playing a ton of FPS games lately and getting a bit older... I decided to play a round of battlefield and did much better. People are sweating their ass off, I'm sure it also doesn't help that I don't know the maps yet.
