E-waste is growing 5x faster than it's recycled, says UN
  • How are we even supposed to know what's right anymore? Am I supposed to vote for the solar or the nuclear fanatics? I just wanna save the fucking climate, what should I do?

Edit: I'm sorry if this isn't phrased clearly, but what I mean to say is "solar fanatics or nuclear fanatics", implying that I feel right in the middle between the to and just want to make the right choice. People are arguing loudly from both sides.

  • Immutable distros and dot files / config files
  • That is what I feared. Using another user is a solution but it feels inelegant. I wish there were some middle ground, like being able to pin the home folder or something. I'll take a look at your github!

  • Immutable distros and dot files / config files

I'm using Fedora Kinoite since a while, and I really like it. There's just one thing I don't understand, and have a hard time finding an answer to.

What happens in my home directory if I rebase to Silverblue? Like, Gnome and its apps comes with a lot of config files. If I then roll back to Kinoite, will all those files and folders still be there? How can I prevent this cluttering of files and folders that I don't want to keep? I guess the easy answer would be to create a new user and then delete that home directory after rolling back, but I'm wondering if something else will happen. Thank you!

    Boxers or Briefs?
  • Oh wait, I might be behind on my terminology. What is the difference between boxers and boxer briefs? I think of boxers as the ones with legs, but they are tight. I just realized, according to american movies, that the shorts-style boxers might be popular? Boxers that are not tight fit. Am I correct?

  • Boxers or Briefs?
  • Briefs, absolutely. The boxer trend is ridiculous. It's getting hard finding briefs here at all, in Sweden. Imo, it all stems from middle school insecurity. We were all told briefs were gay and so now everyone is using boxers.

  • US spends billions on roads rather than public transport in ‘climate time bomb’
  • Classic America to be fair: butcher every public service until it's unusable and then use that politically as a demonstration of how terrible it is and how we should just hand it off to private companies.

This is happening in Sweden too right now.

  • Passkeys might really kill passwords
  • I export my passwords from my manager regularly and keep them on paper in a secure place. At worst, it would be massively annoying if the password manager somehow blew up. But you can't hack a paper. On the other hand, like some other person wrote, it's incredibly easy to break your phone screen and then you're screwed until you can fix it.

  • YouTube now allows monetization on videos with breastfeeding nudity and 'non-sexually graphic dancing' | TechCrunch
  • Funnily enough, I can't be bothered looking at a video becouse I can't glance through it. It takes too long listening to "please like and subscribe thnxxxxxx....." With text, I can quickly scan through, and easily find what I'm looking for.

  • When was the last time you cried?
  • I cry almost every day. Two kids under two can be exhausting sometimes, and I have a lot of stress and anxiety. They are awesome, I just can't handle it all the time. I'm lucky enough to have an awesome wife who's very supportive, so we'll get through it!
